This film is based on an actual event which was covered by national media as it was playing out. People do not need to be religious to see this film, but it is a very compelling story about a disgruntled high IQ guy assisted by his gullible, lower mentality,esteem-less girlfriend. The man has a long planned scheme to force ransom money from the nation, with fragile hostages in mind. The actors were believable and the film was made on location where the event occurred, and while the event happened maybe a decade ago, the event might have happened just yesterday.
An absolute feel good movie.

Having seen much of Christensens work, I found this movie to be one of the best ones yet! The movie includes firsthand accounts of the survivors and is truly made to show that miracles do happen and prayers are answered. Many reviews rate this movie very poorly, claiming it's "religious propaganda." It's a religious movie. It's about miracles and prayer. The word miracle is in the title. So don't rate something as terrible merely because you found more religion than you were expecting. The acting is well done, the story makes sense, and I found the movie engaging and interesting. Give it a shot! It's worth the watch.

I am religious so this review is already biased according to some who are not. I find it sad how a few non-believers think that they are the only unbiased individual in the world and make it their goal in life to hurt and destroy other's happiness. It's sad that they don't see their own bias. Why would anyone vote a 1 unless they are angry. It's obvious they didn't even go to the movie.
I am reviewing this movie based on how I felt and how impressed I was with those involved in this true story. I was impressed with the courage it took for those who went through this experience to allow a story to be made into a movie. I enjoyed the story and the message of hope in a crazy world. It gave me hope in humanity and hope in the possibility of a greater power. Why would you not want to believe? The thing is that those who do believe in a loving Father in Heaven and that He will protect you, and we can live with Him again, can hep bring peace and solace even when confronted with crazy and horrific situations like this. What a great story and movie.

This is an excellent movie, obviously because there is a three day old torrent of this movie at KickAss Torrents that has been downloaded 39,482 times. If the movie was really that bad it would not have been torrented that much. It is actually the #1 movie being torrented right now on KickAss torrents as of now (5:26 pm Eastern Time). Go to the website and see yourself. If it were that bad there would not be all those people downloading it.
The ones giving the movie bad reviews based on "propaganda" look like the same person with multiple accounts. jmcdo-62542 is a new user, prokowski is a new user, and jazzpimp is a new user. Their style of writing is pretty similar. Obviously someone wanting to make sure no one will see this Christian movie. Too late guys, there are thousands of people downloading and watching this movie right now.
Go watch it. It's a good movie and is not anymore about "propaganda" than films that depict women as toys and "political" movies like All the King's Men.

This is the first movie that my wife and I (both in our mid-60's) watched twice at the main theater in the same week. Talk about inspiring! Both times at the end it sounded like everyone applauded in a 60% filled Harkins Theater, and everyone also stayed seated through all the credits. This was not only an amazing story - it was suspenseful, moving, and spellbinding. Anyone that doubts unseen aid should watch this if they want to remove all doubt. It was a miracle from the standpoint of many witnesses, including innocent children. What happened was impossible from every angle of analysis. Do not read about it if you don't know anything about this historic event. Keep yourself in suspense and you will enjoy watching it the first time that much more. We will buy the DVD when it comes out!

This is one of the best Christian films I have seen. It is on par with God's Not Dead and Heaven is for Real. I remember when this event actually happened and had heard about some of the events of the movie but I was struck by the incredible story and the intense scenes as well as the emotional impact this movie had on me. I don't know when I have been so impacted by a movie. A must see. I have seen other movies by T.C. Christensen but nothing he has done has been anything like this. The entire audience was riveted to their seats and I watched many people leave very emotional. I am going to track down the book and see if I can also research the story more thoroughly. I loved seeing the many children, now grown up, who appeared during the credits.

My wife and I saw this movie on 8 June 2015 and were extremely pleased with the first rate quality of story, acting, filming and especially the sensitive and convincing portrayal of the many miraculous events.
Believers will be inspired and non believers will be left wondering --"how could this not be an experience to give one reason to seriously consider that there is more to life than just what we see." We have some good friends who lived in Cokeville at the time of the explosion, and they have told us of the appearance of angels and deceased family members to the children. They said that the movie is an accurate representation of the events of that experience. Their son even said that he was told by an unseen voice three times to move over by the window. When the blast occurred he found himself outside the room not knowing how he got there.
Skeptics should simply see this film with an open mind. Perhaps they will be inspired and touched by this beautiful depiction of a true story as we were.

If i watch a movie about basketball... and i do not like basketball... then I complain about the movie having basketball in it. Then I should be considered a retarded IMDb movie critic...
A lot of the reviews here seem to put this movie in a bad light, AKA "Not a good movie". These bad reviews smell A lot like a anti-Christian agenda. Do not allow them to tarnish this film with false and inaccurate reviews.
This movie is based on a true story back in 1986. These people are real people, walking the streets right now. It was not a classroom of Christians, in a Christian school, living in jesusville.
This movie gave me a glimpse of the horror they experienced and their attempt to understand it. Great movie if you LIKE this genre (fireproof, God's not dead, heaven is real).

The Cokeville Miracle is the true story of the May 16, 1986 incident in Cokeville, WY, where a lunatic and his wife entered the local elementary school with a bomb and an objective to blow up its students into a better hereafter. Those who know the incident know that the bomb accidentally went off but miraculously only the bomber and his wife (the perpetrators) were killed--all the kids and teachers made it out alive. The movie entertains the notion that the event was a real miracle ordained by God, and much of the drama centers around the local sheriff's attempt to make sense of the incident.
The Cokeville Miracle is a completely Christian movie, and actually of a rather conservative variety. This means that whether you like this movie will substantially depend on your own personal beliefs. It is unquestionably a powerful movie in this context--the hostage drama is actually only part of a plot that centers around a crisis of faith in the Sheriff and the pain that this is causing his family. The story of a crisis of faith is a very old one, but is done well here, and for a Christian is of course the most important story that one can tell. Christians will find an incredible parable on the power of divine intervention and its potential to save souls- -it is right up the Christian's alley.
If you are an atheist, however, you will probably find yourself in completely unfamiliar territory. You may find yourself rooting for the Sheriff to not give in to easy explanation of "miraculous intervention" that the story proposes. Furthermore, the Sheriff's struggle to find his personal faith may leave you feeling very unmoved, to say the least. The movie has the potential to draw many eye rolls, especially considering Jasen Wade's very earnest performance as the Sheriff.
If there is a middle-ground, it perhaps lies in one's willingness to accept this drama for what it is--a drama about people in a small town and how they might react to this type of situation. In this sense, the movie is superb. I am not originally from a small rural town, but I did live in one for six years. As I watched the drama, I realized that so much of it was real--these people could have been my friends. The hostage drama was believable, if appalling. The tendency to explain the event as an intervention of God's hand was true-to-life, an essential aspect to how these folks would actually react. The story of the sheriff's crisis of faith, at least for the people that I knew (and cared for) struck me as spot-on and heart- rending in its context. There is much here that might offend or at least bore the outsider; to an insider, it is a really powerful movie.
