A lot of detail I have not seen in other programs.
Interviews with psychiatrist, police and family members. Much more detail than other series. Mindhunter did a great job portraying him.

This show at 3 hours with commercials could have been shorten to between a hour to 90 minutes. Again they drag out long retired police officers and others who had some dealing with the killer! However much of what they add is not worth the time it took up in the show. Fact that one of the victims as lesbian and baked awesome pies added nothing to the this story. In fact one could just do an internet search and read more important facts this long convoluted take!

The presentation of this particular story is told in a back and forth manner that does a great job in the area of explanation, but massively overdoes it with unnecessary camera shots that do nothing but add length to the documentary. While most of the exposition in the interviews is important to understanding what was happening, there is still much that is again unnecessary, and prompts a viewer to lose interest.
What is treated as the highlight of this story is the sheer amount of taped confessions from the killer and his sister, yet it turns out to be the worst part due to being almost completely inaudible. If the filmmakers had isolated the audio of the interview tapes, we could probably understand it. Instead, we hear it with loud tape hiss, and is edited together with a music score, then combined with various sound effects. This of course makes it impossible to understand what is being said in these interviews, thus losing any possible dramatic effect they were trying for in the telling of this story, and causes the viewer to again lose interest. The simple addition of subtitles to those sections would do a lot to fix this overlong film.

I'm 1 hour and 13 minutes into watching this and can't believe the makers
of this documentary have not included subtitles when playing the recordings of the
interviews, I have no idea what is being said because the sound is so bad ,
which kind of makes watching it rather pointless.

Monstrous production about a serial killer monster of the 1970's. There are loads of interviewsegments that is so blurry and sounding as an underwater speech, so for my tinnitus and everybody elses withering chance to feel any kind of ''sympaty'' it should have been cc'ed or underline texted.
Loads of interesting historic film material, and the story of goliath vs the chanceless hitchhikers of santa cruz is chilling and heartbreaking in general, even more if audio had been digitaly enhanced.
