One of the best films I have seen in recent times. Such a simple idea brilliantly realised. I can't remember the last time I saw such a compelling performance that relied so little on words.

My advice is to anyone wanting to watch this is if you don't like films where there is very little dialogue and things that remain unexplained and left to the imagination then maybe skip this one. However the concept and execution of what this is trying to be was well done. Not sure why one of the other reviewers had to have a pop at the director / dad of the star of this as it doesn't really describe the film to the rest of us in any way. But If you like "film" and have patience and enjoy a little bit of horror and suspense thrown in there, you'll enjoy it.

I think the bad reviewers for this movie hasnt really being able to understand the chilling creep that makes this movie something out of the ordenary. The sailor do know how to handle boats yes, but that dosent mean that he know exactly how to pic locks. When you are stuck you sometimes really are stuck and thats it. The thing is to imagine yourself in the same situation and what you would do and not do at that point. Everything isnt realistic at all but still its on a level which makes it awesome in a mystical way. Also all the sounds has a huge role in this one and you have to be observed and focused with a lot of imagination to enjoy this movie.

I didn't expect much and it turned out to be quite alright. Makes you want to keep watching and maybe this is the effect of the current lockdown in 2021 but felt like it was intense and mysterious till the end. Always liked a sea film and this doesn't disappoint despite a one man, one place scenario.

The scissors could have been used to pry the door open, guy gets rescued by the other boat end of story. But not quite, the rest or bulk of the movie is just fluff. You're given a few moments where you doubt the guys sanity and or the boat's? It's as if the line that keeps the mystery from giving itself away is never known where to be drawn. Spooky noises and "other" people noises (the loud thuds) make you doubt the ship is "haunted", that there's a hidden player in all of this, then they drive the "haunted" notion back with the ship literally NOT BEING ABLE TO LET GO AND ACTUALLY RETURNING BACK. This level of absurdity is unmatched in recent memory, but you are treated to such characters as the unlockable door knob that makes a second cameo? The unrelenting sail that will sweep/knock you off your feet and who could forget the dolphin crew. I sat through the end so you wouldn't have to, but here's the gist haunted ship, keeps sailor prisoner, then says effit and lets him go, BY RETURNING HIM HOME TO HIS DOCKS NO LESS. I'll confess it hadn't quite ended when I was writing this review when I realized they cannot stop, the little boat comes back and it's alluded it may be haunted too now, the big boat comes back to make an omniscient deadly pan last appearance. LOLs will be had but not because it's a comedy, but because it's that bad. 2 star review because it will make you laugh at least.

Joe Azzopardi takes a small boat off of Malta and discovers a bump, dense fog, and an abandon sailing ship, the Aelous Valetta. Joe boards the vessel and soon discovers he is alone on the ship and his ride has left. On a historic note, in 1886 the Aelous was sunk when it collided with the Valetta. Things happen on the ship that tests Joe and threatens his life. He manages to avoid the large Sealand cargo vessel that killed Robert Redford and not soon enough. Sorry for that plot "spoiler". The film is slow-moving. And it doesn't give real closure. It does show a small cavern on an island if you know anything about Aelous, you might connect the two. Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity. Note to self: If locked in a room and the hinges face you try to knock out the pin

This was a big surprise for me since It's hard find any decent films to watch these days. I've watched it a few times and every time it got my attention throughout :) Great cinematography, score and editing! I've seen all boat/ship thrillers like Ghost ship, Triangle, Below, Dead calm etc.. and this ranks among the top. Looking forward for Azzopardi's next feature :)
