It's quite obviously low budget film, and the quality of actors is a little bit of a mixed bag. Little bit amateurish, but seems like a good good effort that's not quite there. Like there's good ideas in it, but it doesn't quite hit the mark, so the overall plot isn't super original. It's not a waste of time, but it's not a good film either. I think the film would have benefited if it tried to up the creep factor with the mood.

Yes it's low budget and some of the acting is possibly amateurish and I know there are historical inaccuracies but for me the single most important part of any movie is a good story and this is just that. A very very good story believable and really quite creepy in places. I really liked anabelle as a character she was lovely. Recommended!

Acting and sound very poor but I liked the story. Just a pity production and actors were poor. It would be great to see it done properly. It has a very amateur feel to it.

I enjoyed The Baylock Residence, the acting was good although at times, a little forced. The story itself kept me watching. Its your typical haunted house/mystery film that had a good solid storyline and a couple of good scares without over reliance on jump scares, something that can tend to be overused. One problem, and I think this has been mentioned before is, while it's a period piece, set in WW2, the costumes and hairstyles don't really match the period. There are some good scenes of air raids but while the clothes are made to look 1940ish, the hairstyles and general look don't and it's jarring. The scene set in the 1920's was worse, the dresses looked vaguely of the period, but no bob cuts and the hair and make up looked much more modern. While it is a small nit-pick, it took me out of the movie and for me, that is a problem. I thought the ending was a little rushed as well, but still it's a lot better than some of the movies I have seen lately. Still, I enjoyed it, but it won't be for everyone. Overall, not bad, they should have just made more of an effort to give the movie a more period feel and a little research on the styles and manner of speech back then would have benefited the movie a lot more.

The acting in this film is shocking! I felt I was at the local AD Society supporting the local effort! I honestly don't know why I wasted my time ... maybe because I had it on in the background as I worked from home. I should have checked the IMDB reviews first ...

Following her sisters' death, a woman attends her funeral with the rest of her family where she learns she's inherited a large gothic mansion in the countryside and moves in, only to begin to fear for her life when a series of ghastly secrets lurking within the house threatens to expose itself. This was a pretty solid and enjoyable if flawed supernatural thriller. What works best for this one is the general buildup about the main characters' mental state being in the house as the psychological impact here is what sells the film. Given that it takes place in the appropriate type of Gothic-styled house to do so, from the creaky structure, long corridors, billowing curtains and generally spacious floor-plans that drip with the gothic atmosphere the scares that emerge here begin to feel genuine. With the gradual decline of her sanity and growing belief that something's happening to her due to being in the house, this comes across rather nicely with the wholesale inclusion of some action set-pieces in the final trying to get herself under control about the situation that she's in. This is all that raises the film up for the most part. There's one main problem to be had with this one, though, that derails the film. That is the utterly abysmal job of trying to make the film interesting and worth caring about. Barely anything that happens here is worthwhile, relying on a dull and utterly drab feel that's not in the slightest bit interested in doling out horror viewpoints for the melodrama about her slipping sanity as the repetition about trying to remain calm despite her growing hysterics that say otherwise soon grows old. Likewise, the films' drabness also extends to the mere fact that it never for once feels like a period piece, as despite being set during the Second World War that fact can be entirely forgotten about without altering the film much, another example of some of the weak writing on display much like the lack of interest which all tend to lower this one. Rated Unrated/R: Violence and Language.

I found the movie to be of interest taking place in England from app early 1920s to 1944 when England is being bombed. The characters are credible, the pace not slow. From watching enough supernatural film, I rate this one to be good.

After the death of her sister, Patricia Woodhouse inherits her family's estate and soon discovers that something or someone has been haunting the home for decades and harbors a disturbing family secret that she must uncover. This is a remake of the 2014 movie The Haunting Of Baylock Residence. Patricia has been estranged from her sister for quite a few years due to a family feud, but still goes to her funeral. That's when she meets Annabel Blair, who informs her that she's inherited the house. However, there's a secret inside it that may cost Patricia her life as well/ Director Anthony M. Winson also created the film that this remakes. He bases his films around Nottinghamshire, England. This movie is all about how that country felt around 1944, along with the undercurrent of the supernatural.

The story is the classic gothic ghost story with an almost longing reminisce of the past and lost bygones. "The Baylock Residence" stays within a refined, romantic style of storytelling where showing a past history, even one that is dark, means more than the shock value of modern paranormal horror. It is a neat, subdued thriller with more melodrama and theatric characters with tone-down horror elements. The acting is pretty decent, it never reaches the fully developed attributes that make you truly feel these characters, but the actors know there lines and understand the material. I did feel the film lacked the atmospheric authenticity to make me really feel like I was lost in the time period. However, structurally, everything seemed to represent the time period "The Baylock Residence" is set. The cinematography is done nicely. It is straightforward, unexaggerated third person point-of-view. It stays pretty traditional. Honestly I felt this movie plays well in a Masterpiece Theatre, made-for-TV market. The horror is very mild, "The Baylock Residence" features the expected gimmicks and CGI tricks one would expect from stuff like 'The Ghost Whisperer'. Overall the movie won't appeal to the "Insidious" crowd but if you like period melodrama with a spooky edge then check it out.
