I gnenerally like Goldie Hawn and Susan Sarandon movies, but this one was a real bomb. The story line was horrible and the filthy language from Hawn made it hard to watch. Except for money I do not see why these fine actresses would want to be part of this movie.

Okay, so this isn't a knee-slapping funny movie. But women will get it. Even young women. It really isn't about what happens to the characters themselves, but what happens to women when they take on the responsibilites of life such as careers, motherhood, etc. Sarandon and Hawn are great and play off each other very well. I highly recommend this movie! Warning though-quite a bit of crude humor, so get it on a night when the kids aren't home!

I'm sure that I'm not the only one who recognized parts of myself in this movie. It's a real feel good film. You either know someone like or were yourself like either Suzette or Lavinia. Suzette living in her past and never growing up and Lavinia growing up and trying to forget her past. I LOVE Goldie Hawn!!! She's one of those actresses that I really believe is as adorable in real life as she is in movies. Goldies free spirited character and Susan Sarandon's up tight character played off each other so well. Jeffrey Rush was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!! Who knew he was so funny!!!!!!! I'd love to see him in more comedic rolls in the future. Run, don't walk to your nearest video store and rent this one tonight!!!!!!!!!!

The movie was an enormous surprise. I expected s0me 90 minutes of thin fun, and I got to see one of the best, simple small movies about the life we most often let pass by and let it to very few we usually consider half wrecks to live it, not understanding what we've done with what was given to us and we did refuse. I don't expect this review to help you, but it helps me to see it clearer. Most reviewers did understand nothing, and demonstrated so that people feel better when aging as working, seeing, loving, behaving as zombies, in other words like 90% of those who drove us crazy when we were 16 or 22. Thank you all very much for reading this! Besides Goldie Hawn who shines like a handful of diamonds the director succeeded to put together an excellent team of first class actors, they all together give you so many hands full with diamonds that you look like Shiva, the multi-armed Hindu God :-) Mihai-Robert Soran-Schwartz

Ugh. Hawn and Sarandon have either been blackmailed or physically forced to accept these roles. I laughed a total of two times in this film. Once at a Got Milk? Billboard and once when Vinnie runs over Harry (both scenes are in the last 15 minutes of this excrutiatingly long film). And I think it was supposed to be a comedy, but now I'm not so sure. There is not a single likeable character in this film. The real stars are supposed to be Hawn's breasts. Save your money and rent "First Wives Club", "Everyone Says I Love You" or "Stepmom".

There is a good deal of decent dialogue in this movie, and Goldie Hawn and Susan Sarandon know how to make the most of it. As a fan of old movies, I could never fault a script for being "formulaic." Let's face it, if you've seen a thousand movies, you've seen it all. As long as the writer gets it right, a movie can, at the very least, be admired. In this case, it can be appreciated. This movie is fun, it doesn't take itself too seriously, and there are some important messages: remember the importance of being supremely sure of yourself, of having a best friend, and of hearing Led Zeppelin in concert. It shouldn't be relegated to the category "chick flick." It is about a person who seems to drift aimlessly through life, and winds up portraying someone who makes a positive impact on many peoples' lives. Watching Goldie's/Suzette's face as she and Susan/Vinnie start to dance for the first time in 20 years also made me remember something important: when women friends dance together, it's different than men and women dancing. They enter into a partnership that says, for the next few minutes, we will do something cool together, and, sometimes, that's an important thing to do.

Spoilers herein. Yow, another formulaic movie that preaches breaking out of the formula. Another staid, riskfree production that promotes the taking of risk. Another film about filmwriting whose chief fault is the script. The setup is simple: comfortable but compromised person is confronted and sees the error of their ways and enters a richer life. Worked for Dickens in `Christmas Carol.' But here, it is not at all clear that capricious, obsessive serial sex with hundreds of dopers is superior to boring repression. The second story is a little more workable, and concerns a blocked writer freed by sex from the same angel. But this guy has clearly been mentally ill his adult life, and the implication is that the product of his writing is the execrable script we have been watching. An odd production, because these three actors are capable of something with power in these roles: Sarandon in `Thelma and Louise' and Rush in `Quills.' Hawn has extreme limits, but good comic timing, and has made a successful career out of being a lovable, elderly sexual cutie. I saw only two worthwhile moments: the opening of the bathroom door to reveal Susan with her new hairdo, and a couple moments in the sequence reviewing the photos. The absolute low point was the valedictory speech where the terminally damaged kid is now miraculously repaired, but still illiterate as she - to applause denoting a mass epiphany - directs the listeners to `whatever, do it true.' This old guy got a tinge of sadness from the billboard scene. The original event was a campaign by John and Yoko to end war and enter an era of peace merely by declaring it. The image of sitting on that sign was apt and carried great power for me. The `Got Milk' reprise denoted the relative powerlessness of this project perfectly. Eva Amurri created the best character. Lets watch her. Ted's Evaluation -- 1 of 4: You can find something better to do with this part of your life.
