Ah Bridget Fonda, you will always in my favourite top 10 actress. If you ever come back in the movie business, I'll be there I swear . God she's so amazing in this role, what a delight, so hot and elegant with anything she wears. The story is completely distinct and keeps you wanting more. Gabriel Burns is perfect in his role and the same goes to rest of the cast. Last but not least the music pieces are perfectly chosen for each situation and some reminded me of the music played in the movie Flashdance for whom that have seen it, remember the piano rendition with lady lady lady how it was so emotional, well lol, you know that feeling, the music will make you feel the same, weird right. Anyhow I know this movie made more then a decade ago but if you want to engage yourself to something completely different well this movie is perfect. Romantic with enough action and violence that it doesn't contaminate the story line. Good cinema to all

I am a great fan of the original 1990 French classic, La Femme Nikita, on which this remake is based. Unlike other user-commentators, I found that this American version of the film was done very well.
I still find the original to be the best. I am also a great fan of the now very popular American television series (La Femme Nikita). However, Bridgette Fonda gives a great performance as Margaret, a woman put into a situation she has no intention of staying in for longer than she can avoid it. As well, Harvey Keitel as "The Cleaner" gave one of his best psychotic performances to date (no offense Harvey, but you are the best!).
As others will see when they take the time, the two films cannot compete with one another. They are both, on their own, classics.

One of the funniest drug movies ever made was "REEFER MADNESS" and it was a Government documentary which portrayed pot as whatever drug MAGGIE was hooked on. Her attitude and violence must have been from Angel Dust,LSD and a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20.
Bridget Fonda was at her best in Lake Placid......a wealthy spoiled woman who had never lived real life. There's no TOILETS??? Tents,we're sleeping in TENTS????? As a burned out dope addict she just didn't fit the part.
My wife broke her collarbone at work and we started watching a DVD every night from the 100 or so we accumulated but she never really watched. Usually it's a What's this about review I supply from the DVD case and memory. This one was a What was that about after watching it but as a casual way to spend a couple of hours it's watchable.

OK telling of a recruited wild woman who is trained for dangerous undercover missions.
Bridget Fonda is sizzling after she styles her hair and shaves under her arms. Gabriel Byrne is the taskmaster who is torn between offering her tough assignments and hoping she doesn't get her pretty little head blown off during the next mission.
Good action with a solid performance by Anne Bancroft as Bridget's hardened etiquette teacher who may or may not be a lesbian.
I am somewhat puzzled by all the negative reviews on this forum; this film is worth a look for action fans and Bridget Fonda admirers.

Most of the changes from the French original are for the worse, but the movie still holds together very well, and Bridget Fonda is outstanding in it. Roger Ebert gave it 3 stars out of 4 (and admitted he might have downgraded it due to deja vu after seeing the French version).
I saw this movie titled "The Assassin", and can't help thinking this movie would have attracted a larger US audience if this title was used instead of the ho-hum "Point of No Return".

The script for Point is dramatically better than for Nikita. In the original, Nikita's behavior was laughable. This was supposed to be some evil killer learning to be a real human while training as an assassin? Give me a break! That one fix alone makes Point far better than the original.

I think watching this movie is nothing else but a waste of time. If you watch Point of no Return you will loose, pointlessly, two hours of your life. Oh sorry I've done a mistake. All the above are verified taken into consideration that you have seen the original film La Femme Nikita by Luc Besson. I am saying this because Point of no Return is nothing else but a chip remake of the original one.
As far as the directing is concerned it is alike to Besson's one. In my opinion remaking a directing with the same way is something stupid. Bridget Fonda performs badly in contrast with Anne Parillaud's performance. The only actor, whose performance is comparable to the original one, is Harvey Keitel. The screenplay is the same so I have no comment to add. In conclusion I give Point of no Return 6 out of 10 or * out of ***** stars.

At the beginning of the movie, drugs have reduced a gutter snipe named Maggie to a near animal state. Government agents, especially Anne Bancroft in a fascinating role, train her to be sophisticated assassin. But she is still only half human - an over-controlled being with many skills, but no conscience.
As she takes up her cover identity and begins work, however, she continues growing and eventually becomes fully human. In the process, the people who trained her are revealed to be sophisticated half humans themselves. They stay stuck in their half lives while she makes her escape.

This has to be one of the best action movies ever to be released. Bridget Fonda proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that size doesn't matter. You don't even notice her tiny frame because she gives off such an illusion of strength. I would have to recommend this film to all.
