Someone gave me this movie because they found it boring. I could not disagree more. I haven't laughed out loud like this at a movie in a long time. Yes the joke gets repetitious but the uniqueness at which each comedian tells it is what makes it funny. For instance Kevin Pollack telling it as Christopher Walken, The Mime, and Bob Saget the family comedian doing probably the raunchiest version in the movie. Some renditions had me crying I was laughing so hard. But like the warning says if you are offended by bad language, incest, defecation, etc - this movie is not for you.. Go read Family Circus

This film focuses on the anatomy of the comics' favourite story, but quickly identifies that the joke itself is not all that. It's the varied approaches of it that make it a brilliant litmus test of a comic's approach to comedy. Hats off particularly to George Carlin just for being himself and to Gilbert Gottfried for putting Rob Reiner on the deck at the Hefner Roast. If I was being really picky, I guess I would have shaved fifteen minutes of the lesser performances but I'm chuffed to have seen this and would recommend it to anybody who values stand-up comedy.

My wife and I rented this documentary from the local video store expecting a highly watchable film: a high score on IMDb so what could go wrong? Well on this occasion we've struck something we can't explain: an undeserved and puzzling rating (as of the date of writing it had a score of >7). If you enjoy filthy stomach-churning humour I'll admit that you may enjoy this film. However, most people - even those who enjoy nauseating humour - would desire more than a single 'joke' repeated over and over. My wife and I both rate this as an unreserved 1/10. If there was a 0/10 this would earn it. As I said in the summary: utterly unwatchable. Avoid.

The title of my post actually makes the movie sound interesting. Its not. I didn't even laugh the first time. Wave after wave of self-congratulatory comedy nobodies proving how useless they are. Its not a funny joke no matter how many ways you tell it. If you are actually expecting a film with comedy content I wouldn't even try this. It has no continuity and the camera guy cuts so many times between people that you get motion sickness. I only watched the first 15 minutes and fast forwarded from there. I somehow get the feeling that the joke is on the viewer. I think they are laughing at us for even watching. Even so, shame on you Robin Williams for even appearing. This is about an undescribably filthy joke, which is said to have been told among comedians through all times. Here it's told in many ways. Even by a pantomine artist and a card magician. Well, if these two are the funniest, you'll understand the level of the rest. The worst about it is the tiresome habit all these comedians have of laughing at their own telling. I thought that was a deadly sin. One wonders what some of them have been drinking. The joke has no real point, but the conclusion is maybe that filth isn't dirty (or funny) anymore. This movie isn't anyway. Can an audience be chocked today? Yes, by people who are laughing at themselves for the wrong reasons.

Rated NR(would be Rated NC-17(or just maybe R) for pervasive strong graphic crude/sexual dialogue). I saw the aristocrats about a year ago on the movie network.I had heard that it was a documentary film about a certain very dirty joke.The point of the joke is to make it as nasty as possible.The film basically has 100 different comedians telling their version of the joke.There is a short scene where Cartman from South Park(voiced by Trey Parker) tells his version of the joke.There are a few very funny versions of the joke but overall the film is very repetitive hearing the same joke just told in a different way.If you're favorite comedian is in this film, you might want to check it out but don't buy it or anything.

This is an extremely funny movie if you enjoy bathroom humor and the lighter side of rape, incest, and child abuse. You might also like it if you like to watch a bunch of guys congratulating themselves on their own "aristocatic" and "sophisticated" gifts, and a few women valiantly trying to keep up with the boys in an effort that might dissuade any young woman to swear off feminism forever. The few actual funny moments were the Paul Reiser and John Stewart bits which contained enough embarrassed irony to almost let them off the hook, and Sarah Silverman's interpretation which was a brilliant deadpan version of "the joke," that almost gave it some redeeming social (and comedic) value.

I've lost so much respect for all of the esteemed comedians that appeared in this film. They all got so caught up in the moment of trying to be cool and forgot to be funny. It's not funny to say "bad" words for no good reason. (or at least not since 6th grade) It was like watching a bunch of dorks sitting around telling an "inside joke" that was never really very funny anyway.The other thing I really hated about this movie was the horrible editing. The clips were cut too short and it was just annoying to watch. The one portion that didn't make me want to start a new crossword puzzle was the segment with The Smother's Brothers. All in all I would suggest doing anything else rather than watch this snore of a movie.
