This is a part of our history and I was thankful this story has been told knowing to what happened to the 24th Infantry of Camp Logan, TX. Without this portrayal I would not know that Nat'l Guardsmen from northern states were thrust into the Jim Crow south.
That said, knowing that the writers changed the names of all of the soldiers I was rather disappointed.
They also they dumped dirt on the driveways but made no attempt to cover the curbs or sidewalks. Oversight or lack of vision? Hard to tell.

This movie was very well done. The writing of characters, the visual shots created an emotional experience. The story line was focused... the actors performances was stellar!

What happened to these men is terrible, and I sympathise with how they where treated. But they keep pumping out all these race movies constantly, all we hear on the news or online is race again. All this does is make the people who are not racist become angry and then turn to racism. Constantly pushed down our throats all the time. Just tired of it all.

Better than I expected it to be and definitely worth seeing. The ending through me for a loop though....

This could have been a really good movie, but ends up being boring for the most part of it.

The acting is good to very good. But the story is told accurately and provides a balanced account of how racism - physical assaults/beatings and murder by the Houston Police (and some local people) - led to the events in Houston in 1917. The trial - both in real-life and in the film - was a sham.
