When you see reviews with this many 10 star ratings you expect a movie like Ben-Hur (1959) or The Godfather (1972). Well, this isn't anywhere close to either of them. Some reviewers commented on how great the acting was. Obviously they were watching a different movie.
At about 14 minutes into the movie Dr. Donna comes home and hears someone in her house. Does she go back outside and call 911? No. She reaches into her purse, pulls out a taser, sneaks around a corner, jumps out screaming and brandishing her taser about 15 feet away from the intruder. Luckily for her it was only her ex-husband or ex-boyfriend. Had it been the killer he would have laughed then shot her.
Now we go to the laboratory and see a couple of thugs break in to destroy the research. One of them lets the door slam alerting Dr. Clyde. Dr. Clyde gathers up his notes and laptop and tries to get out before they torch the place. The thugs light the place on fire and leave. Dr. Clyde goes out the same door as the thugs about 5 seconds behind them. They see him but he gets in his car and drives away. Does he call 911 to report the fire? No. That would make sense.
Back to Dr. Donna. She's having dinner with her ex. The power goes out.
Back to Dr. Clyde driving his car with his dome light on. He hears on the radio about the first murder. He calls someone. Is it 911? No, it's Dr. Donna.
Back to Dr. Donna. She and her ex go outside to the breaker box. (Everywhere I have ever lived the breaker box is inside the house.) The ex turns the breakers back on then gets shot. The sniper takes several more shots but misses Dr. Donna so he takes out his pistol and follows her into the house. The bad guy comes into her house and she zaps him with her taser. Does she take his gun while he's unconscious? No. She runs outside. We see her ex lying on the ground still moving but Dr. Clyde pulls up in his car and she goes with him. The bad guy comes out and shoots several times at Dr. Clyde's car but it's bulletproof and the bullets just bounce off.
Now Dr. Clyde & Dr. Donna are driving away. Does she call 911 to get an ambulance for her ex? No. Does she call 911 to report someone trying to kill her? No, let's just put our seatbelts on. Oh no, there's a car following them. What to do. Let's drive into a ditch and hunch down in the seat. The other car drives by. It was some woman who also drives with her dome light on.
This is when I gave up on the movie. I don't care about any of the characters. In fact I was hoping the killer would shoot all of them and get the movie over. But when he pulled up in his car they were gone so he turned around and drove away. I went away too. I turned the movie off and watched something else.

Target List may not be a big budget Hollywood movie, but it does feel like everyone involved was giving it their all, from the actors to the director and everyone behind the camera. It looked good from scene to scene and about as well-shot and edited as a movie from a larger studio might be. The chemistry between the two leads, Rachel Alig and Justin Ray, is very charming. They have a kind of bumbling, comedic energy of two people way too deep in a situation they don't know anything about. It actually reminded me a little of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I just wish that had been the vibe from the get-go.
It's marketed as a crime/action movie but there really isn't a lot of action. The beginning really sets it up as a more serious action kind of movie, but there are a few gunshots here and there, a couple of pretty short chases, and that's about it. And not all of the dramatic plot points hold water under scrutiny. Then, once Donna (Alig) and Clyde (Ray) get together on the run, it clearly goes for laughs rather than tension or even logic.
All in all, I wish that either the comedy had hit harder throughout the whole movie, or that the action elements had been bigger. Even so, it wasn't a bad time! It's not exactly high-octane action, and some of the logic falls flat, but for all that, it is still fun to watch the characters run around and get out of wild situations by a wing and a prayer. So, for a pretty fun time, go for Target List.

Target List is a medical thriller about a groundbreaking discovery for the cure for cancer and the plot to eliminate it by big pharma. The story follows Clyde and Donna (who are great together by the way) on the run from an assassin hired by big pharma to stop them from making their groundbreaking cancer curing technology, the WAND, available to the world. There's lots of great interaction between these two. Moments of action and suspense with a comedic bent as well. This movie was a lot of fun. Way better than I expected for an independent film. Everything from the music to the cinematography, the story and the actors- especially the two leads was well done!

In Target List, we get a movie that delivers nonstop action, adventure, and cleverly timed moments of comic relief. Starring Rachel Alig and Justin Ray, this independent flick is all about the dirty deeds of a fictitious pharmaceutical company (Orphium) that hires an assassin to thwart the efforts of a creative team of doctors and scientists and their cancer-curing device called WAND.
Produced by Mad Wife Productions, Target List entertains and delights from beginning to end. The fictional story delivers a critical message to its audience by talking candidly about big medicine and the drug industry.
I almost got the idea from the film's writers that Target List is more about truth than fiction. The production gives movie enthusiasts an inside look at what probably happens in real life and behind the scenes of corporate medicine.
Is modern health care concerned with getting people well or keeping them sick indefinitely to profit from diseases never intended to be eradicated by big science, big pharma, or any other corporate entities? This is what Target List is suggesting to its viewers.
This is a timely film, and the movie addresses a subject in many people's minds. Running at 100 minutes, Target List is a gem, and I am glad I could watch it with my family.
