I gave it a 10 just because it was filmed in my hometown. I still see the flat black 75 nova driving around town once in awhile. Its a decent film. I like the killer car idea. Reminds me on the movie The Car.

I bought the 3d version on e bay which only played in 2d which was a bad start.I've seen worse produced films but it really is daft. You have to be some horror geek to even entertain this.

I wish to reinforce what several other reviewers have striven to persuade potential viewers of "Super Hybrid": that it is not a bad film--certainly not as bad as its low IMDb rating would suggest. I won't go so far as to say it's a great film, or even a very good one, but it does supply what so many other recent horrors do not: genuine entertainment.
A large part of the success is the kick-a** shape-shifting car. In what I presume is its 'base' form, it's a matte black '77 Chevy Nova (I think!). But it transforms itself into various other familiar muscle cars or pickups. If you love sweet rides, this movie will appeal. The driving chase sequences in the parking station are really well done also and the tire-squealing and rubber burning are further bonuses for rev-heads.
The car's biggest problem is under the hood. The CG effects for the big blobby gelatinous turtle-without-a-shell thing that is the actual creature 'unmasked' are pretty...um...poor. But hey! It doesn't matter so much. The whole film has a made-for-TV look to it, and some of the acting is pure daytime telly, so a viewer shouldn't really expect too much effects-wise.
Besides, the acting isn't so bad. The worst is the boyfriend in the beginning, but we don't see much of him. The a**hole boss, Ray, has his moments too, but you can put up with it.
One small thing I liked about this movie is that certain common sense idiocies that film makers often perpetrate, and which infuriate viewers, are avoided in "Super Hybrid". For example, when escaping the car in the parking lot, some characters run behind pylons to avoid being hit, instead of just running straight ahead to get chomped up; that's the smart thing to do, but so many film makers don't seem to like common sense choices like that. In one scene they try to ride some big dumb-a** police Harley (?) up some stairs. In "Ghost Rider" they may have pulled something like that off, but here the makers say, "No", and stupid ungainly bike just topples over a coupla steps in and riders are unceremoniously deposited on their a**es. As I said, it's a small thing--and there are plenty of other things that make no sense at all--but I noticed it and thought it was a smart touch.
Comparisons have been made in these pages with 1977's "The Car" and, while the earlier movie is far better in my estimation, it's not an invalid proposal. The key with both these movies is the car itself. As the stars of the show, they need to be as cool and bad-a** as they are. While not quite as awesome as the car of the earlier film, this shape-shifting mo-fo is still pretty darn cool and, as stated above, THAT is the real drawcard here. "Super Hybrid" is pretty much a success in this all important department. It's this coupled with decent pacing, well conceived and executed action sequences, and a solid score that elevate this above the dross it could so easily have been.
I want to mention the score once more. It's not something you expect to praise in a film like this, but I thought it was effective, unobtrusive when required, and well-suited to the scenes it illustrated. The opening aerial shot makes particularly effective use of the music.
So, for a silly, low budget, B-grade flick, "Super Hybrid" ticks the important 'Entertaining' box and a few others besides. Ignore the nay-sayers. Car buffs will likey and true horror fans (despite the lack of gore) will find something to enjoy. A solid 5.5 to 6 from me.

I haven't seen a movie about a killing "car" since Christine and I liked this movie from the first moment. Especially that black car from the beginning. The acting was mostly good. I just can't imagine anyone smiling and acting like he's the greatest, when anyone around him dies. The story was kind of funny, sometimes. I highly doubt, that it was intended this way. Nevertheless it was very entertaining and I don't really care about how it was meant to be, as long as I enjoy watching it.
There were a few things I didn't like, like some references to other movies. Once they speak about transforming robot cars and then about hunting the car like x-men. That's quite unimaginative and those references weren't even funny. They just seemed out of place.
After about one hour the movie started getting more exciting and there were even some interesting turns and events. The end was quite a surprise. I'd recommend the movie to anyone, who is bored from watching the same used up story lines, since the whole concept of "Super Hybrid" is rather unconventional. 8/10

As you may have guessed from the cover, this is another car gone bad movie. This car not only can repair itself, but can change into another type of vehicle. The low budget aspect of this film only allows us to "see" the morph once. Most of the time we just see it as one car one moment, then when the camera goes back, it is suddenly a different car! Oh the magic of cinema! Unlike Christine this car kills indiscriminately.
When the car was in an accident it is towed to the police garage where the night crew must combat the vehicle. Shannon Beckner stars as Tilda, a female mechanic with a jobless boyfriend, a nephew (Ryan Kennedy) who also works at the garage and their overbearing boss, Ray (Oded Fehr of various Mummy and Resident Evil movies ). We all want to see him die next. He provides the inner conflict within the crew because harmony in battling a man eating car isn't enough drama.
Tilda comes to work in her tank top and puts on a dark blue work shirt. After an incident involving said car, the blue work shirt suddenly disappears and she is back in the tank top. Oh the magic of Anchor Bay movies!
(Plot spoiler?) They manage to get the hood pried open and lo and behold we have the film's meager special effects as we see some sort of creature lives under the hood. They surmise this creature has evolved while living along side of a road, to the point it can change forms for hunting humans. Ray doesn't want any help hunting this creature, and prefers that the garage mechanics do it to the dismay of Tilda. Melanie Papalia, as the secretary is the other eye candy of this film for those who like fish nets.
The acting was good considering the weak plot and being an Anchor Bay movie. No Mercedes were harmed in the making of this film.
No sex. No nudity. I don't recall any F-bombs, but don't hold me to it.

This movie was excellent. A hilarious comedy great for all ages. The use of props to promote automobile safety greatly influenced me and my family along with messages of gun control and the harmful effects of profane language. It was also very educational, as I plan to hunt giant shape shifting squids in my fast approaching retirement.
My 25 year old army boyfriend was brought to tears when Maria lit herself on fire with the Molotov cocktail, a truly inspirational experience even though it made Marlon Brando laugh so hard he began rolling in his grave. The different types of cars really intrigued my two year old son. However, my fourteen year old daughter thought it was lame, but you know how teenagers are.
"Super Hybrid" was the best movie we've ever watched in the short amount of time that my family gets to visit me and my cell mate/lover at The Golden Trail maximum security penitentiary for the elderly. Definitely a 10 out 10 simply because an 11 is not allowed.

Hybrid (2010) this movie is also know as Super Hybrid" I didn't not expect much from this movie, I expect something really , really bad, so I had very low expectations with this movie.
The movie dose not take to long to get going, which I liked and the moving is very fast pacing and never gets boring at all.
I thought I would hate this movie but I ended up really enjoying this movie, I thought it was lot fun to watch.
There was tense scenes, with the Car trying run people over, Also liked the fact, that the car it's not what it is!
It's looked decent, well not scary also really enjoyed some of the deaths scenes, the acting was okay not great but more then a watch able.

Now a lot of people review this film as being serious bad or just bad but its not been given its fair due's. The concept behind this film in horror sense is the claustrophobic concept, where you trapped in a parking lot with no escape & something evil is out for blood. This is where it gets interesting because if you put yourself in there shoes knowing what a car looks like & should feel yet this one thing isn't what it appears to be this is where the real terror of the film comes into play. Yes it not the best or Oscar winner film & its not meant to be, this film is what its meant to be a well made quiet low budget film that entertaining to watching. It one of those rare film that mite seem really bad but its still a good watching film, mine that not everyone will think this film is good but its all down to the viewer watching the film. For me I found this film pretty good to watch its not scary but still entertaining.

There's only one word to describe this film accurately: STUPID!! This film makes no sense, the genius who wrote the screenplay must be 5 years old or less. The dialogs sound like a bunch of lunatics who just speak about random subjects that have nothing to do with what's going on, and the most stupid detail is the explanation one of the characters finds to what's going on: it was something he had already studied in school!! Amazing how someone actually paid to have this movie done. 1hour of my life lost forever (yes, at the end I was just doing fast forward)! I gave it 2 stars but after writing the review I'm giving it only one...
