Man alive. Just saw this....
I LOVED MALCOLM MCDOWELL (sp?)' s performance in this!! He really convinced me he was the lucifer so discussed in Scripture.
A stellar cast giving some of their best performances, visuals that deliver beyond what I imagined, a perfect mix of humor, passion & tragedy, and a feeling of grandeur, scope & impending doom. Perhaps as an ensemble piece with so many characters & the inability to concentrate on any one except Satan's, it can't be measured against some of the classic character study films, but even the casual moviegoer can grasp the ideas & not get lost - who who win the trial? Now to the characters. All I can say is, "Wow." I was a little apprehensive about the casting at first; I'd created such real images of the characters in my imagination, I almost didn't want them spoiled for me. However, I was not disappointed in the least. Corbin Bernsen, though not one of my favorite actors, was believable.
So was Tom Sizemore (amazing!)

This film is Scriptural meaning there is a real being that opposes God. I appreciated this fact. Like in the movie, it sometimes appears that we Christians are underdogs. But someday, the role will be reversed. Every knee will fall before Christ. I enjoyed the topics that were raised in the film and my prayer is that the film really reaches out to the masses around the world. My prayer is also that the world finds peace in these troubling times. I like the ending of the movie in that all of us will emerge victorious against the adversary. Thank you brave filmmakers for making this film - may God bless your efforts greatly. Shalom.

I waited for ages to see this and no I did not 'illegally' download the movie - only those making less than $15,000 a year do that (and unfortunately they may only make that for the rest of their lives). Besides I LOVE seeing it on a big screen.
Despite my constant dislike to Shannen Fields in 'Facing the Giants', I was unable to disapprove of her acting in this film. She has improved massively since 'Facing'.
The film itself has an intriguing plot line which keeps you hooked throughout. The film includes humour at the start and fascination by the end. I loved watching this film and I enjoyed the smartness of the story. The film is cleverly done with jumps in time and different perspectives of events throughout which will leave you understanding the motives of each character more. The music is composed beautifully, the orchestral tunes accompanied with the clatter that a typewriter makes creates a beautiful piece of music that fits perfectly with the film itself.
'Suing the Devil' is structurally comparable to a three-act play, with a brief epilogue.
I admired "Suing the Devil" for how it looked and the ideas it had to express, but I think it's an uneven film that doesn't entirely work.

I received my DVD order VERY quickly and sat down to watch it the same night. Luke, a disgruntled, angry law student decides to sue the "devil" after the untimely death of his mother. Each side scores a few victories before the final verdict.
Satan was well played by Malcolm McDowell. He played the part very well, both serious and funny at times. Its a thriller, its a comedy and more but you will want to keep watching until the end to see how it all turns out.
It was a well done movie with a nice twist at the end. I won't post a spoiler but lets just say I didn't expect it.
I was unable to see this in a local theater so was very happy to buy it in advance of release on the website. I would also buy a soundtrack when it becomes available.

Movies about the Devil are always fascinating. Malcolm McDowell always turns in a magnetic performance, but this one is special. He makes his character by turns urbane, self-assured, sarcastic, professional and menacing.
Gradually, Luke, his inadequate attorney, and his poor wife start to pull together and to function as a defense team, because they have no one else on their side. Law is exposed as quite a pernicious practice in this film.
If the film is a stock courtroom drama pretty much like all the others, it certainly has qualities which set it apart. Outstanding performances from the stars, McDowell, Bronson to a lesser degree and his wife, make it a bit special. The denouement is very hard to believe, but there are things in the film which linger in the memory and compensate for the exaggerations of the plot.
The viewer is, from the very start, placed emotionally in the context of a severe situation which is both admirable and unnerving. Once the Devil decides to show up in court, he indulges in some sparkling legal jockeying. He is nobody's fool. The bickering between the devil and the main character is well done. The Devil's walk to the witness stand is a moment of high drama, with McDowell filmed from a menacing angle, emphasizing the formidable authority of who he is.
This clever, well-thought out film finally convinced me that Christian movies can be interesting, if the script and acting is good. I hope this review is helpful to you.

I was fortunate to see the sneak preview tonight at my church. AWESOME is the only word I can use to describe it.
It is in fact not only a movie but a cultural phenomenon, a bigger than life event. This film is a remarkable triumph because not only is the story moving and entertaining throughout but the Biblical story of Satan's fallout with God, his evil purpose for mankind is crafted to move and tell the story are so artistically powerful and universally appealing.
QUESTION: What movie today even talks about God? I just want to point out that a lot of people are pointing to the illegal downloaders as the reason for the attack that brought the score down from a 7 to a 4. Wrong. It was the devil and it's minions, I believe. Because like the other poster said we don't battle against flesh and blood (humans) as the Bible points out. The attackers will stand before God someday and give an account. In their pedestrian minds, I believe they truly don't care and that in itself deserves hell when they die.

Suing the Devil was just something different. It did not try to be deep and certainly did not take itself seriously making it good. It fortunately just follows its own path and throws you into a whole different world.
The acting in this movie was average at best. The lead actor was horrible to be honest, but Malcolm McDowell fit his character perfectly. He seemed to have more fun with this role more than any other movie he has been in, IMO.
He displayed a lot of the temptations we have inside of us. He kind of gave a glimpse of what type of person you would be when giving into those temptations and how it will just transform into something that is not human at all. The wife (Shannen Fields) also gave a very interesting performance as she falls apart because of her loneliness and illness. Probably frustration at being married to a chronic loser like Luke too! The only problem I had with her performance is that she seemed as if she had some sort of southern accent at the beginning but it quickly vanished as you get deeper and deeper into the movie.
Directing, cinematography and writing were pretty good. Not great. So much of this happens it feels as if this movie just spins out of control which is probably a mistake of the director.
This movie does not portray the devil as a really wicked being. In fact, he shows some charisma, humor, and sophistication. Certainly more likable than the main character, I'm sorry to say. It shows that the devil is inside of us but that our weaknesses are just as bad. We are actually our own worst enemy sometimes, even more so than the devil, which does make sense when you think about it.

Just watched this movie two weeks ago and really wanted to share my opinion especially after seeing the low rating. I think 17,000 fans on Facebook would disagree with the rating The level of acting and the intensity of all the performances have, without exception, always taken my breath away. It is a movie that I love and will never tire of watching.
You forget, as you watch the movie, that pretty much the entire movie takes place in one courtroom. Movies today, actors today, would not be able to maintain the level of suspense that this movie created and hold your attention for the entire hour and 36 minutes. It starts off slowly, and you become part of the jury in this brain-teaser, frustrated as one man holds out because "he is not sure" if he's Satan.
Malcolm McDowell gives an amazing performance as the devil but all the actors give tour de force performances, and you sit mesmerized as one by one they are all converted to Christ. The movie is also a good social commentary of the times, regarding the racial intolerance, prejudices and biases that governed people today. There are still faith-based bigots hiding behind a tree as evidenced by the low rating. And watching it again today, I would say not much has really changed! Excellent performances

Suing the Devil is an interesting film that starts ordinarily enough before becoming increasingly strange. It poses religious questions which can feel slightly pushed in your face like many Christian films and it certainly isn't subtle however it contains a great Malcom Macdowal performance that builds the film up above what it would have been with a lesser actor. I must admit the main protagonist is a little boring here, sometimes feeling a little off in his role but never nosedives into bad performance territory. The script works well and builds up to stranger and stranger events some of the dialogue also is done well. I am sure that many will not like the ending and many others will. I myself found it satisfying as the film was always leading up to a over the top ending. So enjoy it for what it is, a religious, fantasy movie with a message.
