Great action movie - no, but a good one, after which I didn't feel as if I wasted my time. This movie reminds me a lot of a compressed season of "24", with Dominic Cooper's character analogous to Jack Bauer. Action was good, a couple of plot twists, casting was actually very good. Bad guy was very good - not an over-the-top characterization, but something more believable. The movie did play like a made-for-TV show, but not in a bad way. Less budget and special effects than a theatrical release, but still quite good. I'd watch it again. If you like "24", you'll like this.

A stellar cast, brilliant storyline and some of the most spectacular action scenes I've seen in years - this is the film of the year to see. A lot of reviewers have criticized various aspects of the film, but I could not be more impressed with the full package. Characters surrounded by smoke and mirrors mean you never know who to trust, but Dominic Cooper works as a perfect tandem with whomever is on screen alongside him. I think my only gripe would be someone larger than life against him, maybe Arnold Schwarzennnnnn

That phrase haunted me from the beginning, from the first fight scenes. Being chased by other cars, having Grenade launcher attachment at each gun, a bunch of spare grenades at the back, but yet not a single one was fired... even an innocent nun would have thought of that. I couldn't focus to watch the rest. Terrible, SBS should kick in the dorsal parts the director and the writer/s.

The new action thriller film Stratton based on the international best selling books by Duncan Falconer starring Dominic Cooper, Austin Stowell, Gemma Chan, Thomas Krestchmann, Tyler Hoechlin, Tom Felton, Connie Nielsen, Derek Jacobi. In Stratton following a mission in Iran in the Middle East which goes spectacularly wrong, Special Boat Service agent John Stratton (English actor Dominic Cooper - Captain America: First Avenger, Dead Man Down) is summoned by MI6 for another deadly mission. Having been presumed dead, former Soviet operative Grigory Barovsky (German actor Thomas Kretschmann - Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Hit-man: Agent 47) has gone rogue and plans to use deadly chemical weapons stolen from his former paymasters to take revenge. In a nailbiting race against time, Stratton and his team are dispatched to track down Barovsky before he unleashes terror on London, England. Amongst the other actors / actresses in Stratton includes Danish actress Connie Nielsen (Gladiator, 3 Days To Kill) as Sumner, American actor Tyler Hoechlin (TV Series Supergirl where he plays The Man Of Steel Superman the cousin of Supergirl, Road To Perdition) as Marty John Stratton's friend and partner in crime, English actor Tom Felton (Harry Potter films, TV Series The Flash) as Cummings, English actress Gemma Chan (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them) as Aggy, English actor Derek Jacobi (Gladiator, The King's Speech) as Ross, American actor Austin Stowell (Bridge Of Spies, Whiplash) as Hank, Israeli actor Igal Naor (Green Zone, Munich) as Tariq Alawi, Jake Fairbrother (Skyfall, City Of Tiny Lights) as Spinks, Ukrainian actor Olegar Fedoro (The Wedding Video, American Cousins) as Sergei Orlov, Italian actor Nico Toffoli (The Hidden Side Of The Things) as Nico, Ilan Goodman (The Imitation Game, Echelon Conspiracy) as Miller and Lizzie Winkler as Alice. Filming locations in Stratton includes cities, countries, places like Iran, Middle East, London the capital of England, Rome the capital of Italy, Europe, Ukraine, Europe. Overall Stratton is a good action thriller film filled with action, shooting, violence, suspense, explosions, things getting blown up, wrecked, destroyed, chases on foot and in vehicles like cars and speed boats, MI6 people, sadness, family, friendship, loyalty, togetherness, team work, arguments, falling outs, some close calls, on the edge of your seat stuff, crashes, snipers, thrills and spills, betrayal, covert operations, mind games and many other things throughout the film. So I will give Stratton an overall rating of 3 out of 5 stars and Stratton is worth seeing if you like action thriller films like the James Bond films, the Mission: Impossible films, Eraser, Survivor, The Rock, Con Air, Face/Off, Stolen, Welcome To The Punch, The Last Stand, Escape Plan, Sabotage, The Bourne films, John Wick films, Hit-man films, Transporter films, Crank films, Parker, Safe, Rambo films, Taken films, The Guest, The Equalizer, Ronin amongst others. So if you get the chance to see Stratton in the cinema then you should go and see it sooner than later.

This is OK, to a little less than OK. WTF is Connie Nielsen doing with some god-awful attempt at a well- spoken Brit? That was embarrassing and utterly cringeworthy to watch. A world away from her performance in Gladiator. Special effects are well below par - and a competent film unit from the BBC would have done far, far better. Indeed - Dr Who is better made than this for explosive FX. Fairly lame and clunky handover sequence during bus sequence from the entrance of Battersea Park to Millbrook Proving track! Boat sequence that preceded it was fairly good though. Sounds like the music owes a fair bit to the most recent Mission Impossible films (Rogue Nation) also... Overall - reasonable popcorn fodder. Don't expect too much from it - it's totally generic.

I have impression, that this movie has been made 30 years ago. Stupid situations, that would never have happened normally were OK in 1987, but not in 2017. Sry, but a big no no. Feels like a really bad attempt of making yet another action movie. I lasted only half of it. I am a big fan of action movies.nits OK to watch if there is nothing else around, but not recommended

I do wonder how so many bad (and I mean really bad) films get made - surely the people in charge must have some idea about film making otherwise how and why are they able to raise money for this kind of mindless nonsense? I wish there was something - anything - good about this movie but I can't think of a single thing. Everything was wrong from the basic premise to Connie Nielsen's accent (she is wasted in rubbish like this). It had the look and the feel of some low budget US TV 'thriller' along the lines of Scorpion. I've just thought of something good - it was only 94 minutes long!

After reading many reviews about this movie, I was a little hesitant, but ended up being pleasantly surprised. Somewhat understated instead of the crass flash-bang of most American films in the genre, Stratton put up a believable story-line with a worthwhile cast. The moaning and complaining about Dominic Cooper is puzzling, with constant gripes about his lack of physical presence. Anyone with an inkling of the nature of Special Forces soldiers, especially non- American ones, would know that they aren't all 6ft plus full of rippling muscle but are frequently 'normal' looking blokes who are capable of extraordinary things, much like Cooper's portrayal. Mark Donaldson, the Australian SASR VC recipient is a classic example. As for his firearms skills, another sage suggested that "Half the time he uses a weapon he seems to be trying to emulate John Rambo, hip-firing at any opportunity.". I'm not sure what movie that individual was watching, but Cooper, Hoechlin and Stowell all shouldered their weapons sighting through the optics attached as is the usual case with modern operations. One 'expert' reviewer mentioned the use of 7.62mm NATO rounds being incorrect. I'm guessing a little too much time spent playing CoD here. Sorry, wrong again. Gemma Chan's character quite specifically mentions a sniper rifle, with this chambering being quite popular with the application. Equally so, Connie Nielsen's 'atrocious' accent. I couldn't see the problem myself. She spoke with a grace and dignity one would expect from a woman in her role. The action scenes were 'action', the drama as so and the humour or lighter moments equally appropriate. One might think the amount of negative reviews were from opponents of either Dominic Cooper or Simon West or those who were disappointed with Henry Cavill's lack of appearance. Either way, horses for courses and this course suited me down to the ground. Recommended.

I like Simon West as a director and think he really know how to direct big dumb-fun action movie with some of the best i see from him in the past like:Con Air(one of my favorite Nic Cage movie) and The Expendables 2(The best of the trilogy). His new movie Stratton (2017) although is not as bad as people said but still a pretty meh movie at best. The plot is very genetic, there some good acting but still suffer from one dimensional character.Nice cinematography and few good action scene with clear shot is the only saving point for this movie. If you like past Simon West movie you will highly disappointed with this movie
