I cant believe how much this movie has flown under the radar! Is it going to win awards..no. But it has an originality about it that deserves a lot more credit and attention than it is currently recieving. It didn't feel the need to make every scene feel like a set up to an adrenaline rush, and yet you constantly find yourself on the edge of your seat. In a tiny cast Frank Grillo is his usual dependable self. But the credit in carrying this title has to go to the little girl Shree Crooks! This girl displays some acting prowess that leading ladies twice her age would be proud off. I dont want to say too much so as to give plot twists away, but her understated acting is masterfull! Do yourself a favour and check this out next time youve got a spare hour or two. And without a doubt we will be seeing more of Shree in the years to come.

I thought this was a great premise for a movie and it worked well because the acting and pace of the film was good. A good twist with a moral dilemma certainly kept it gripping all the way through. Definitely worth a viewing.

It has been a while since an horror movie actually made me feel scared until i saw this one! Wow the unknown at the beginning of the movie actually made me feel creeped out and wanting to know more! All the actors and actresses were excellent especially Shree Crooks! Very talented for her age! The movie promises mystery and some unpredictable jump scares i promise you that!

I've seen countless horror films so it can be hard to find one that is still unpredictable and scares. This one didn't disappoint as only a few of my predictions were accurate. I won't say anymore as I don't want to give anything away, other than the acting, especially from Shree Cook (Stephanie), is superb.

Wow! Where to start?! I think it's really a waste of time to even dignify this crap with a well thought out review. I don't know if all the reviewers watched the same movie I did but I don't understand the high ratings. The people involved with this film must have figured out a way to hack into IMdB accounts to make the ratings higher. I really like Frank Grillo because he seemed to have integrity. You got the sense he acted for the art alone, but now I know he's not into acting anymore to act - he's in it to make money and that's it. He's just acting in anything now. He's one step away from becoming a main player in the movies on Lifetime. So sad. He's enjoyable to watch on film but he was wasted in this. If I had to hear him say "You're my Princess" one more time. Ugh! Jennifer Lawrence needs to take a good look at the Mom character - cause that's her in 15 years but with better acting. This actress was so bad it was almost like she wasn't there at all. Not memorable except for managing to look like she was a worker on the film who they moved up to a main character because the other actress who was supposed to be in this came to her senses at the last minute and pulled out. They had to have a fill in so they just looked around and said, "Hey you! Over by the coffee pot...yeah you'll do. Be on set in 5 minutes." Finally did anyone else think it odd that here's a kid who no doubt climbed on a counter at some point in her life (because she's a kid) yet instead of climbing up on the counter where she could have no doubt secured the canned good she wanted she stacks books on a chair?! And then in a blink and you might have missed it shot she goes to get another canned good down and you see her kind of jump up and back down really quickly with no effort. I'm guessing that was the monster part of her which by the end of the film you can understand why that happened and then look back and see it made sense; but in that moment it was like "What the heck?! Did I just see that?!" I would recommend this movie if you literally have nothing else to do and I mean absolutely nothing else. Which everyone always has something else to do so please do that instead. This movie is so bad it was an hour and 15 minutes...the end credits took about 9 minutes. That's just lazy.

I don't remember if there were any jump scares in "Stephanie," because it had me always ready to jump, and that might be the best thing I could say about a horror movie these days. This is the sort of horror movie that could only be made with excellence today. It's low budget, but looks great. It takes place primarily in one house, but doesn't become dull. Instead of special effects, It depends on atmosphere and its actors' performances. In the few places where there are special effects, they don't invite doubt. I commend the actors, especially child actor Shree Crooks, who hits it out of the park. Was it possible before now to get child-actor performance this strong in a low budget horror movie? Crooks is in every scene and never slips. My only caveat: the first part might not appeal to some viewers, but if they spend the time looking carefully, they'll see that things are even more amiss than they seem. And if they stay with it, they'll be happy anyway. An excellent largely ignored film. They used to call these sleepers.

The acting is impeccable. She has a good future. The movie is really entertaining something different from other monotone movies.

Words cannot express how horrible this movie is. Now, I am a veteran horror and low budget film watcher, 35+ years experience in watching them, and I have seen many films with HALF the budget of this which have been much better than this (not to mention half the trash that Hollywood spews forth every year). Watching paint dry is quicker & more interesting. I had to give it one star because zero isn't an option.

Rhoda Penmark (The Bad Seed) has nothing on this little monster. The problem is, though, that there's no foundation in reality for this allegory, if it's not merely directorial * to turn yet another buck in today's Horror market. Anything goes these days, whether it makes sense or not. This one, like the unicorn book Stephanie reads, makes no sense. Was that the point of the film? To make no sense? Or are we to believe that children all over the world are now doors for unseen demonic entities who possess them and plan, though them, to destroy the planet from inside the family structure. See how confused I am? Look. Avoid this one unless you like dark rooms, dead bodies, Slasher scenes, jump scares, and watching people step on broken glass jars and slice their feet wide open. I give this one a three only for the little girl's acting, which was close to perfect. Check out Blum's The Keeping Hours if you want one of his films that actually makes sense and, well, is a keeper.
