Great song and dance tributes to iconic musical showstoppers. It was such an homage to the original artists by a whole new crop of talent. Well done Houghs! I give this TV film a 7 (good) out of 10. {Musical Tribute}

Made a joke of all those movies that inspired everyone who wanted to get into movies. Also made a joke of all those involved in making musicals what they were then, and are today. A good idea, terribly done. Modern musicals are for the young. The musicals of the past were for the young, and are remembered by those of us still living. WE have no link to how those musicals are perceived by the young, THEY have no link to how these musicals are perceived by those of us who grew up with them. The young see them as fun, we see them as they were for us, LIFE. WE don't understand nor want to see THEIR modern musicals, we don't relate to them; as they don't relate to ours, except as musical history. Even remakes don't make a link because, age tells. A story can only be retold so often, then it's gone. The story should remain with the period, not be rehashed.

This is very rushed. It packs so much into 42 minutes, so many classic dances. I would have loved them to be complete without truncating the songs. There stuff between the dances is also largely a load of fluff. But the passion that the Hough's have for these great classic dance works is palpable and it is enjoyable experiencing them along with them. Dirty Dancing for the finale was the highlight. Definitely worth a watch.

Full disclosure. I come from a family of musical theater people, dancers, singers, actors. This is such a great show both for those of us for whom the numbers are old favorites and for our students who can discover these iconic numbers. I hope and pray that we will see this become a regular occurrence. Like, once or twice a year like the live musicals? Than you, Mr. And Mrs. Hough, for giving us your amazing kids!

On the heels of the series "The Real Dirty Dancing"---which was a competition designed to celebrate the now-iconic film---comes this offering from Derek and Julianne Hough. "Step Into" is a re-creation of many classic movie dance scenes, and it succeeds wonderfully. The brother-sister team, as producers and stars, have created a beautiful tribute to the dancing of "Singin' in the Rain" and "Saturday Night Fever", among others. The production values are high. The cinematography and editing are beautiful. And the dancing itself is superb. Derek and Julianne surpassed my expectations. I have only two complaints: I would have enjoyed a classic Astaire-Rogers dance number. And some of the dances were so good, I wanted them to continue. Well, you can't have everything. But I hope this production was successful enough that they come back with another, longer tribute that is even better. Special mention to Kenny Ortega who, besides lending his credibility, displayed such emotion and enthusiasm for the project that it was touching.

What kind of car were they driving going to the directors house? It looked like it was a futuristic car. And probably electric. Really cool................

My only complaint... not enough of it ! Could probably fill several hrs. Of iconic movie dances :) there are so many wonderful dances & dancers on film I just wanted it to go on and on . I could have watched it for hours ! It was the best feel good thing on television in a long long time ! It's not fair to require 150 characters for a response when " just Fabulous " or " the best thing on television " or " very worth the watch" or any number of phrases or words could sum up what a great program this was it was just way to short !

Loved the tap dancing! I wish they would have done more dancing from before the 70's...starting with 20's...both Derek and Julianne so talented! The 80's we're so fun and so much more could have been done for that era.

I adore Derek Hough. Julianne also but Derek for all the OBVIOUS reasons. Man is he dreamy. What I love about him is also what I love about this special. He is a throwback to a time when men were sexier, suaver, and oh so fabulous. I am also a fan of ALL the old Hollywood musicals. I WISH HOLLYWOOD STILL MADE THESE! Enough with the Superhero crap and some garbage... Let's revitalize real artistic expressions and dancing and singing. I would watch unlimited episodes or movies like this.... I want to see them pay homage to The Sound Of Music, Mary Poppins, Cinderella, Xanadu, etx. Moulin Rouge is my all time FAVORITE MUSICAL EVER.... I would LOVE to see all the numbers done by Derek and Julianne. PLEASE SOMEONE GIVE THESE 2 THEIR OWN WEEKLY VARIETY SHOW... a la Donny and Marie in the 70's!
