The story was so cheesy and shockingly unrealistic I had to turn it off with 25minutes left to go, and I really do love any type of sci-fi/space war movies... But, I'm not 2 years old. 1 - The 'federation can build interstellar fleets, but cant use simple scanning equipment or shoot a starship down. 2 - Earth has zero defenses and a wormhole right beside it, a single ship manages to rip them up and land on earth. 3 - The dialog/story is so bad I consider it insulting and the dumbness of the characters is really, really annoying(I'm being very, very nice here guys...). The CGI was great, this movie could have been epic, but the story was so... "hollywood" that it became just too painful to watch. I heard this movie had a budget of 9m or something, nine Million, what they did with that money is beyond me, they certainly didn't put it towards this film. I'll give it a 1 for decent graphics, its temping to give it a 2 but we have had good graphics for Years, it failed in every other aspect, I think the only explanation for this movie is that they are trying to make people hate sci-fi by making absolutely insultingly terrible films :(

Every sequel to the Starship Troopers movie I have watched, but none has come near the quality and excitement of the brilliantly creative original directed by Paul Verhoeven. This film was one big let down and disappointment. Other than the amazing fantastic original, the only one worth watching was the third. This film is all CGI animation, so it's like watching one tedious long scene from of a really bad and boring video game. And CGI in this one for the actors looks cheap and horrible. Horrible, I say! CGI cannot come close to doing the job and performance of what a live person can. I wish they would quit putting out low budget loser sequels in this film series, and put some effort into a real quality film for fans. Jerry Bruckheimer can do it. Paul Greengrass can do it. Paul Anderson can do it. Apparently the director/filmmakers making the sequels to this franchise for Starship Troopers cannot. What a big let down and shame.

If this would not have been Starship Troopers, the movie could have got a 4/10 for the action: Skip when they talk, watch action. Simple! The result is a doesn't hurting mind from story and dialogue. But no, it's Starship Troopers, so the whole thing was watched. They dared to put "A fast paced thrill ride, that tops the Original" on a poster for this movie. In what does it Top the Original? Certainly not in the character development, memorable scenes and foremost the political and social black humor and critic, that made Starship Troopers - the movie - what it was. It is a brainless, emotionless and forgettable experience. The well known one liners from the first movie were that badly presented in this one, that they can only be called bad copies. It feels almost like they ridicule them intentionally. Especially at the end of the movie there is a dialogue where i put my hand infront of my head, making a little pushing away motion towards the screen, turning my head to the side, really didn't wanting to look at this flic anymore. Maybe it's just time to read some books and write something of your own, and stop watching movies....

OK, I wasn't expecting Star Trek (the new one), or even Running Man...but what I got was worse even than Galaxy Of Terror (the gold standard of B Sci Fi), worse than the first Starship Troopers...if that was even possible. At least the original, while only sharing the name with namesake work, had moments of schlocky humor and decent special effects for the time. This film seems to fail on all counts, all while delivering animation that falls short of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within...and that was made at least ten years earlier. Add to it the crappy dialog and beyond gratuitous nudity, and the recipe is clearly for a dish best served to 12 year old boys with no taste or discernment. I would have even been happy if they could have at least synced the horrible script with the toon's lips, but even that was asking too much. Someone needs to go back to film school....

This is just a review based on watching the first 10 minutes which are available free online. Literally less than 5 minutes in and they are making stupid mistakes that any decent military consultant should have pulled them up on. All that "fire" coming from the guns? Google "Flash Eliminator" - when in combat the last thing you want is the enemy able to tell where incoming fire is originating from due to muzzle flash. We have them now & we'd certainly have them in the future. (In fact after Carl takes the ship you can SEE the flash eliminators ON the rifles!) Also calling Medic? Everyone gets basic and battlefield combat first aid training, calling Medic died out in Vietnam, it's why everyone DOES get the training - so anyone can treat most wounds. You might have a specific medic but everyone there should have first aid training. Also they aren't very well trained as combat troops if everyone is reloaded at EXACTLY the same time, who is providing cover fire during that moment? NO-ONE! If they can't even get the most simple things right is it even worth watching?

This movie brought me exactly what I was expecting. Soldiers killing bugs! This movie could have been better if they had bigger budget(I bet this movie had a pretty low one.) Animations was sloppy and it had some flaws. The story was good but the voices not so. Also.. The girls look like anime . Overall.. Not the best starship troopers movie.. But way better than Starship Troopers 2. Hopefully the remake of the original Starship Troopers from 1997 will be good. Worth a look.

Starship Troopers is one of the crucial series in the SF movies industry. Although it had lots of luck with persons involved in the directing and production (Paul Verhoeven, Phil Tippett, Ed Neumeier), the bad luck was also present. This intellectual hard-SF journey is not for everyone, so it also can't be the multimillion blockbuster. Therefore the production team of parts 2 and 3 had to make miracles with the strictly limited budget. Marauder was a great success, so executives at Sony decided that the series deserves the next chance. Unfortunately, someone also decided that it should be CGI... So there it is. Finally, straight from the Japanese studios comes Starship Troopers Invasion. There are some good elements there. Indeed, the heart starts beating faster, when we see the Federation insignia on the soldiers' uniforms once again. This movie is neither a spin-off, nor a reboot, but an attempt to continue the story. Therefore we meet some old friends: Johnny Rico, Carl Jenkins and Carmen Ibanez. We have the same ships and the same bugs (with a few new ones - well conceived and designed). Also, the weaponry of the troopers is evolving in the logical way. Some special effects are impressive (zero gravity, deep space action). The plot (at least at first sight) seems interesting. Unfortunately, when we dig a little deeper and see the movie to the last minute, problems appear. Firstly, this is the CGI picture. No matter how hard the crew tries to create the real world, it is still "unreal", computer-generated. As with most contemporary computer games, it is difficult to treat this one as seriously as "normal" movies. This is the significant step back comparing to previous installments. Secondly, the story, written by Flint Dille, may be good for the computer game (his main specialization), but the movie requires another approach. It is difficult to watch the whole movie without yawning... Hundreds of bullets fired and tens of bugs exterminated will not change this. Thirdly, characters are flat and have nothing important to say or do... The only interesting elements in the character development refer to Rico, Carl and Carmen, but that's not enough. Fourthly, all previous movies had something to add to the political situation inside the Federation. There was satire, commentary to the war effort, propaganda, etc. Now it's all gone. There is only action without any deeper reflection. Fifthly, this is, after all, Japanese movie, therefore sometimes it looks like one of many anime products. This time it's definitely not good... The worst part to watch are the last fifteen minutes, where we see the classic mecha-style combat (where are Marauders????), which does not belong to the Starship Troopers universe at all... I understand that Asian audience is the most important (only there the last three parts were shown in theaters), but the far-east influences are too overwhelming in the movie. Besides, why don't Casper van Dien, Neil Patrick Harris and Denise Richards lend their voices to "their" characters? The construction of the picture resembles the second, least impressive part and is not convincing or satisfying (practically the whole plot takes place inside the starship). It borrows a lot from other pictures, like Aliens. Through almost the whole movie we have the impression that we watched all this before and it was better back then. If You are a Starship Troopers fan, You will probably receive the fourth part with pain. This was the attempt to push the whole story further, but it seems that it's not possible with CGI and Japanese as the production crew. It's definitely the worst Starship Troopers in the series. Let's hope that someone will give a green light to the next part, again with live actors and the budget high enough to show the great war with Arachnids as it deserves.

I've been quite against of watching any new ST movies in recent years, because both ST2 and ST3 are really unsatisfactory for me. However after watching this movie, I have the feeling the ST movies have started going back to the right track. Firstly, the movie has found the right audience. It's a movie for a simple story, a small incidence in the ST universe, not for deep philosophy. However, you have to admit that if the story writer can really put a little bit of philosophical ideas from the original novel into conversations and the environment around characters, just like the ST1 did, this new movie will be on a new level. And that's why ST1 is always way ahead of other ST movies. For the story, I give 7/10, with 3 marks off for the absence of in-depth philosophical ideas. And then, I like the design of weapons and ships and many tiny concept things. This includes very careful design of a fleet of starships that follows the style of ST1. Other things like the suit of mobile infantry. Weapon designs. Airdrop of mechanized MI. Main guns of the space station. I should say I have seen the shadows of the original novel, and you can tell the designer have really put a lot of effort to making these things look comfortable, and surely it's just very fun to watch how these men's stuffs to work in the movie. For the artistic design, I give 9/10, with one mark off for the illogical uselessness of the protection ability of the MI armor. In terms of the characters, everybody is poker-face. There is no room for showing the personality. There is also not enough conflict between characters as well. A good movie has to have conflict between characters, that's why Alien and Star Wars is epic. I can only give this part 5/10. Therefore, if you are looking for a simple, straight forward movie, with cool graphic and awesome boy stuff. You should watch this movie. If you want to see some philosophical content, then you better wait for the next ST movie, not this one.
