.... a strong contender. Four really unlikeable dudes wander round the moors farting and calling each other names whilst being hunted by a big cat. I was rooting for the cat TBH.

I expected a B grade monster flick. What I got was a great buddy movie filled with very funny dialogue and one- liners mixed in with action, comraderie, and a creature to liven the hiking trip these men take together. The actors in this were wonderful and played off each other well. They were very believable as a group of friends coming together for fun and bonding and then having to deal with "the creature" together. I was very pleasantly surprised by what a gem this turned out to be.

Made in the style of Dog Soldiers but fails to come anywhere near to it. The script is out of a 14 year old boys classroom and the beast is over mysterious for too long. Didn't even make full use of a Scottish wilderness which can be awesome on its own. Characters on the verge of death are within minutes sitting around having long conversations. I've seen worse but that alone does not constitute a success.

When four friends embark on a reckless Stag Weekend across the vast and uninhabited plains of Dartmoor, they are unaware that the local legend of a monstrous wild beast thought to roam the moors is terrifyingly true. That is until it starts to pick them off, one by one. Stag hunt is a film that knows that its cheap, knows that its not going to get much acclaim, and knows pretty much as soon as its released, it will end up on someone's 'you may like this' list. Which is exactly where I found it. And from the plot summary, i was expecting something in the vein of 'Doghouse', 'Wilderness', with a little bit of 'lads' comedy thrown in for good measure. And i got exactly what I expected, and with the calibre of the aforementioned films, it was painful at times to watch. We have the four stereotypical friends. The mouthy one, the sensible one, the by the books one, and the token fat bloke. The majority of this film features our Fab Four walking along the moors, stopping to rest and drink beer, and be abhorrent to each other, because wahey!! This is a stag weekend, and all blokes are like this. Every other night, the gang hear a roaring noise, and one by one, they become more concerned by the growling, so they do what any sane person would do, brush it off and carry on. And that's the main problem with the film, there is no regency or thrills to the narrative, and you get tired of the fat jokes very quickly to the point that you want the aggressor to be the next victim. Effects wise, it's your basic screaming man being dragged away by cameramen from a decent angle, and very quick glimpses of a creature. But as the film goes on, you amazingly become endeared to the characters, and start to cheer for them using your inside voice, and then the film drags to an end, an end that is very disappointing to say the least. It's not a terrible film by any means, it's just a highly unoriginal, seen it all before low budget horror-comedy, which will get lost in the 300 plus films this sub-genre has.

-1 Star For the endless natural gas sequence This movie did answer the question of when does a childish joke go on too long. -1 Star for the very next sequence....really? about the food? Please. -1 Star for even saying 'What's the Worst That can Happen?' after what has already happened Why don't we just make a stand??? Like in Zulu??? Okay am I going to make it to the end of this one??? It's pretty bad. Okay WOW I made it. This was just a horrible misstep of a film. It didn't connect with horror or comedy really. One to skip.

I hope these guys had fun making this movie!! But it was not fun to watch . The Jokes are terrible most off the time and the acting is also not that great. But the worst part is that you never see the Creature fully. You see a paw, some eyes, the tail and the face but even those parts look realy bad. And NOBODY DIES!!! These Dudes survive everything!! I was looking for a fun low budget Monster movie and I was not expecting much, but still got disapointed!

Ok I'm half cut but I enjoyed this. It's a lot better than some of the big budget Hollywood horror crap. Go into it not expecting much and you might be surprised. The acting wasn't half bad either.

It was a bit of a combo of genres, and comedy + horror can be hard to get right. But the humour worked for me for the most part, despite the one guy who was endlessly an total prick to the chubby guy. Yep, even the immature fart sequence got a giggle. It won't be everybody's cup of tea, but it's not a waste of time by any stretch. Give it a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised :)

I didn't really know what to expect from this movie, but as I was watching it, it was -- as another reviewer said -- a mix of two different genres (comedy and horror). However, I'd definitely classify at more as a comedy. The writing was clever and very funny, especially when the guys are discussing the plan to survive. If you're looking for a horror, thriller, slasher-type movie, this isn't for you. If you're looking for a fun movie with the horror aspect of it in the background, you might enjoy this. The acting was good, but you can tell from the cinematography that it was a low-budget indie. I'd advise you to give it a try. I've seen a lot of indie movies -- too many, really -- and this is a fairly well done movie. I was pleasantly surprised, though I doubt I'll watch it again.
