Gabby St. Claire had to drop out of school before she can complete a degree in forensic science to help her family. Instead, she did the next best thing: she became a crime scene cleaner. When a routine cleaning job uncovers a murder weapon the police overlooked, she realizes that the wrong person is in jail. But the owner of the weapon is willing to do anything to keep Gabby quiet. With the help of her neighbor, Riley Thomas, Gabby plays detective. But can Riley help her before another murder occurs?
Yes it's the typical female lead who investigates, gets a warning from a detective not to pursue this snooping and even thinks her suspicions are wrong, and the criminal proceedings aren't accurate, but it's quite enjoyable, engaging enough to hold your attention. Plus there's some bubblegum romance. Even the killer came out as a surprise.

I have read the book many times and honestly, this movie is a huge disappointment. None of the characters are portrayed the same as the book. Major plot hooks are missing.
Riley is not the calm, intelligent person from the books, he is a little weak and whiney.
Gabby would never have her hair down to clean a crime scene, let along no goggles and mask for half the jobs. Her Mum is dead in the book which is a huge thing to why she does what she does. Her Dad is supposed to be a washed up, drunken surfer. These things actually make a difference to the purpose and flow of the characters.
Parker is supposed to be a rich, good looking guy who spends a lot of time flirting with gabby and not taking her seriously, doesn't work the same with a woman detective.
Sierra is just all completely wrong.
I would suggest people just skip this movie and read the book.

Why on earth would you use the title and characters from a great book series and not make any of it like the book except the names?? The movie Gabby is nothing like the book character. Gabby has curly, wild red hair, loves kooky tees and flip flops are a main stay in her wardrobe. Sierra has a hippy vibe and hello!, she's supposed to be Asian! Also, there is no humor in this movie. Humor is a big part of the books - characters and situations make you laugh along with the seriousness of investigating murders. And lastly - where's the faith factor?? Riley and Gabby are both Christians. They are imperfect and sometimes struggle with their faith, especially Gabby. Faith isn't something banged repeatedly over one's head in the books, but is definitely included. In this movie -- non-existent. The chemistry between these characters - also non-existent. The writers and director managed to take a great, fun book story and turn it into plain pudding. Not even vanilla - just plain boring nothingness. I can't believe author Christy Barritt signed off on this. Yes, it's great to have your novel made into a movie but at least make sure it's a decent one.
I know I'm very opinionated on this, but I've read the entire Squeaky Clean book series avs loved it and the characters. This movie is a joke.

I enjoyed this movie and really do hope they make other episodes. I mean it's not a movie is ever going to be nominated for an Academy award in the actors are the best in the world, but they're good, and it was enjoyable with some humor.
I seem like an American taken Australian show that I watched, but that was only one season.
Was unfamiliar with all the actors and actresses, but I enjoyed them all. Also nice is that it appears to have actually been filmed here in the US instead of Canada I'll never understand why when they film a movie in Canada they try to pretend it's the US why can't they just say it's a Canadian location?!

Let's see...a supposed semi-brilliant female lead with amazing sleuthing skills, a weenie and mostly unlikable male lead who just happens to be an attorney, an air-headed and screechy sidekick, a grumpy lead police investigator, a loveable father figure etc etc. Same tired recipe, just a different cake. I had hopes in the very early going something good might come of all this, but no such luck. Absolutely horrid acting by cast of totally forgettable actors. I also must agree with the earlier reviewer about so many simple and unnecessary mistakes. For one, in addition to the poor cleaning techniques already listed...an unsecured security room...gimme a break. I'm giving it a 3 star rating, but only because I also like the setting.

Spoiler alerts following
We loved seeing something made in a location other than LA or Vancouver! We were really excited to see the small town and neat countryside, but as soon as the two cleaners started cleaning the scene with breezy banter and moving around bloody pillows like they were throwing teddy bears.
Here is a list of the things we noticed that were completely wrong:
1. Who wears their hair down when they're cleaning ANYTHING??? As they rolled up the bloody rug, she had her hanging down. I would think a "cleaner" would be concerned about getting blooding her hair.
2. Felons cannot be crime scene cleaners
3. Blood dries brown. It doesn't stay bright red.
4. The gun in the open fire box with the key still in it is too much.....
and we couldn't take anymore after that!
This could have been really good, but the details need to be more believable.

No wonder people liked the location! Arkansas is lovely especially with its rolling hills and landscapes. Loved the shot of the Walton's 5-10 store on Main Street in downtown Bentonville - the original store owned by Sam Walton of the Walmart retail dynasty. Cool! Despite the local charm, the movie was lukewarm on charm. I agree with much that's already been said - the hair of the female lead should have been pulled back away from her face & secured so not to hang down as she cleaned. I also get soooo tired of female leads in mystery movies who never follow orders & have to be rescued from her own actions often endangering others. The ending was clever - for those still watching - is there a sequel in the wings?
