...that pays lip service to the original movie...which in turn was a somewhat weak adaptation of the original King short story. As such, the focus is on the gore rather than the peripheral back-plot of why the ghost/demons are stalking the protagonist. It's a merely adequate horror movie, but don't go into it looking for a glimmer of the Master's work.

As you may already be aware of that I am a fan of the first movie, but I got to admit that this second installment is even better then the first in several ways. First, the demon punks are even cooler then the zombie punks. Alexis Arquette who plays Tony Reno knows how to have fun while being evil, that's always cool. The demonic effects are cool. Now my complaint, they talk about how Jon kills the three punks electrocuting them, they even show it in the trailer, but why did they cut it out of the movie? I for a party of one think that is kind of important to the plot, that would be like cutting the train wreck from the first movie. Maybe they can put it back in some anniversary edition DVD or something. If you're reading this and own a DVD company, you might want to consider it. But other then that, I give Sometimes they come back again 9 STARS.

Jon Porter(Michael Gross)returns to his old hometown for his mother's funeral and is haunted by evil teenagers that were responsible for his sister's death 30 years earlier. He must get rid of the ghostly demons to protect his teenage daughter Michelle(Hilary Swank). Based on the conjuring of Stephen King and directed by Adam Grossman. My favorite scene is when Jon must cut off his own thumb in ritual to bringing a halt to the haunting. F/X are better than average in this hackneyed story.I found Alexis Arquette totally annoying. Also in the cast: Jennifer Aspen, Glen Beaudin and Jennifer Elise Cox. You may find this better than expected; although not out of the ordinary.

Not a bad shocker. The actors seemed to have a lot of fun making their characters quirky and interesting. Unfortunately much of the movie focuses on killing off these engaging characters. But I'm a sucker for stories that are rooted in the past, as this one is. Flashbacks gradually reveal the backstory and reflect increasing tension into the storyline of the present. This was a slickly made film with some pretty creepy moments. I'd recommend it if you liked the original.

Successful shrink, Jon Porter (Michael Gross of Family Ties and Tremors fame) is unexpectedly called back to his childhood home after his mother dies of mysterious causes with the intentions of paying his respects, selling the house and getting the hell out of dodge with his daughter (Hillary Swank who I'm sure doesn't keep this film on her resumé) but an assortment of ghostly teenagers have different plans. So much squandered talent between Swank, Gross, and the fat kid from The Sandlot trapped in an awful script that makes the first film (of which this only shares a title and tenacious source material with) look like fillet mignonette to this ones week-old hamburger that someone fished out of a particularly pungent dumpster. Bad acting, horrible special effects, and just all-around godawful. Skip it. My Grade: D- Eye Candy: Leslie Danon and Jennifer Aspen get briefly topless

This is one of the best horror movies I've ever seen. It may have been direct to video, but it was theater worthy. It has everything a great horror movie needs: a great plot, the wonderful and chilling music, the great acting, the amazing death sequences, and the villain Tony Reno (Alexis Arquette) gives the movie life. It deserves higher than viewers give it. If it were up to me, i'd put it in the top 250. The first film is good, but it was too happy for me. The third is good, but really should have been a stand alone film. This is a more accurate version of King's story, including a ritual from the story that never made it into the first film. If you want a good horror film, watch this. You'll be happy you did.

SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK should not be compared to the original, which really has nothing to do with this except for the mention of a name. There is horror in this film because the evil ones are cruel, efficient and powerful. It is true horror. My only criticism is a valid one, I believe. The main evil character looks too much like Jerry Seinfeld to scare me, although he is so evil a character you may forget that for an instant. There is enough here to really scare you on a dark night. Try it.
