This movie hooked me as soon as it started! If you're looking for a movie to help you nurse your broken heart and gather a little clarity this is it! A feel good movie that makes you realize...sometimes it's not just the ONE thing that ends the relationship.

It's one of those flat-lined movies it doesn't have ups and downs moments it just ends with the same pace that it started with, if you go in expecting some kind of a powerful message I would suggest you tone down your expectations. it's not bad it's just not great, i enjoyed the diversity and the sense of friendship that it had but that's about it.

I don't get what the deal with all these negative reviews is. First of all, it's a Rom Com and for a Rom com, it delivers. It's the best new Rom Com I've seen in a while.
I watched this on Friday night with a few of my girlfriends and we all loved it! We laughed, danced (the soundtrack is amazing!), and we cried. I'm within the age range of the characters and I found it very relatable, which made it that much better.
This movie captured New York in all it's day-to-day glory, which is a bit rare. Movies are great at catching the fantasy of NYC but I find it's rare to see what living here is really like. I love how they capture the New Yorker without making New York it's own character (hopefully that makes sense?).
I do not agree with a few reviews that say that the representation of different races and ethnicities in the film are simply tokenism. No. I've waited too long to see more minority representation in this genre for someone to come and rain on that parade. This is what most friendships look like in this city- no question about it. It would've seemed weird if all the girls were one race or ethnicity in this very diverse city.
I loved Gina in this role. She knocked it out of the park. First time I ever saw her was on Jane the Virgin, then in Miss Bala, and I love how well lived-in her characters feel in each role. I can't wait to see more of her.
As for the love story, I loved it. I loved how messy it was. I love how it strayed away from a typical ending. It just worked so very well.
Do I wish it had been a bit longer? Yes, but not for a different ending, just for a bit more of all of it. I think the drug use was a bit excessive (especially the molly). I haven't seen this much weed in a movie since Friday or Pineapple Express (or maybe I'm not watching the right movies, lol). I don't mind seeing them smoke, it was just way too much. These are the only reasons why I knocked off a star.
