A real stinker with a nonsense plot, terrible acting, not enough nudity, and an attempt at a dream within a dream ending that just doesn't work. Almost nothing redeeming to this snooze fest and stay away from the director's cut which adds almost 7 minutes of pointless garbage to an already terrible movie!

Crystal "Wings" Benard is Courtney, the little sister of the first film's "new girl next door* has recurring dreams of another Massacre, but decides to go to another slumber party anyway. What can I say? The original proved that woman shouldn't make slasher films, and this one only reaffirms my belief ten-fold. I don't care that the film's stupid, as a lot of my favorite slashers are stupid. But I do care when the film is this insipid and unentertaining. It has the lamest "metal" killer this side of the swishy Tony Fields as Sammi Curr in"Trick or Treat", and the worst singing since...well since I last flipped on MTV. This one comes from Debrah Brock, the 'genius' who would later give as "Rock and Roll high School Forever".
My Grade: F
Eye Candy: Only Juliette Cummins gets topless, see had a better * scene in "Friday the 13: A new beginning", and that's the ONLY semi-good thing I'll EVER EVER say about that turd of a film.

I'm angry with myself for watching the whole movie. The first movie was at least fun but this was beyond stupid. The acting was so bad, I don't know how Crystal Bernard ever got another acting job after this movie. Pure garbage, don't waste your time.

This is my good deed for the day.
DO NOT watch "Slumber Party Massacre II". I'm begging you, do anything else but. If it's a nice day, go and take a walk. Bad day? Stay in and read a good book, watch TV, build a model car. ANYTHING.
This movie is bad. Way bad. Beyond the valley of the bad. Bad to the bone, marrow and nucleus. There is absolutely not one single reason for this movie to have been made, exist, certainly none for watching it now and definitely none for watching it later.
The girls can't act (par for the course in this genre), the policemen who show up are named Kruger and Voorhies (excuse me - ha, ha, ha.) and the killer is a textbook example of creating one of the worst killers in history.
He's a bad hybrid of Jason, The Fonz and Elvis. Complete with a Gibson outfitted by Black and Decker, he drills his victims as he plays a bad song on his guitar o'death, cracks a one-liner any jaded horror movie fan would turn their nose up at, then disappears. Whoever this actor, Atanas Ilitch, is, I hope he thought better of his acting prospects after this movie and either dropped out of show business or changed his name and started choosing projects better.
Bernard stars as one of the hapless girls and the less said of this ex-"Wings" star's involvement in a slice-and-dice feature, the better.
And can ANYONE, anyone on this planet we call Earth, explain the ending? Anyone, who isn't on heavy medication? If you think you can, maybe you should because no matter how you slice this one, it's still baloney.
No stars. It's a "Massacre", all right. This one killed 75 minutes stone cold dead.

This review is only about the last twenty minutes of the film (aka: THE GREATEST MOMENT IN CINEMA!). Granted, the first fifty minutes is just like any other film, but that is before the killer shows up. If they wanted to create some sort of sympathy for the characters they shouldn't have made the killer the coolest guy on the whole f***ing planet! Atanas Ilitch single-handedly makes this my favorite movie of all time. Sure he kills the annoying characters, but he does it with style. Everyone uses a butcher's knife or a chainsaw. Who else uses a demonic drill guitar? How many slashers dance before giving the thirty-year-old-teens an extra body cavity? Only Atanas Ilitch: The Driller Killer. BUY THIS MOVIE!

Has there ever been a movie that would have been hurt by having a plot? I point to Slumber Party Massacre II. Who was the killer? Where did he come from? Why was he killing them? Where can I get a guitar like that? Why did he continually do the intro to "wipe-out?" Was it all a dream? Or was it a memory of a dream of a hallucination of a dream? Does the director want me to believe that break-dancing is frightening? Why didn't the girl with large breasts get naked? Why did the ugly girl get naked at all? Why the blow-up doll? Why did they build up the romance of the girl from Wings (the sitcom, not the parade of stock footage from the Discovery channel which was much more entertaining) and Rob Lowe's little brother , only for him to be the first to get drilled? Was the killer made out of oily rags? What was happening at all in this movie!
Frankly, I don't care. A lucid plot would have been a dead weight on this movie, dragging it down and holding it back from becoming the paragon of movie making that it is. All movies should be written and directed while drunk and filmed over a weekend in a housing development while the foreman was in the port-a-jon. A rocker with a drill on his guitar! Breakdancing! Blow-up dolls! Unlike the killer, I got satisfaction!

Slumber Party Massacre II (1987)
* 1/2 (out of 4)
Courtney, the youngest survivor of the first film, finds herself being haunted by dreams of a mysterious killer who is stalking her sister who just happens to be in an insane asylum. The teen decides to getaway for a weekend with her friends but soon their slumber party turns into a bloodbath as yet another killer with a drill shows up. SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE II is best remembered for being one of the worst horror movies ever made and it easily lives up to that reputation but at the same time it's quite an original piece as there aren't many films that use a 50s rock and roller as a killer and give him a guitar with a drill on the end as a weapon. There's really nothing "good" about this film as everything is what you'd expect out of a direct-to-video release from this era. In fact, there's very little to connect this film to the first one, although they make it clear about Courtney being one of the survivors from the first film. Writer-director Brock does very little to try and build on anything from the first film and in the end it really comes off as if she was forced to connect the films in any way possible so that she could use footage from the first film here to add up some gore. The gore in the film is pretty much lacking and the most graphic scenes are clips from the first movie. The murder weapon here is just downright silly and you can't help but ask logical questions like how on Earth is the drill able to work. I'm not sure whose idea it was to put a drill on a guitar but it's certainly one of the dumbest weapons in horror history. Another really bad thing is the music, which we sadly get quite a bit of. There are several songs in the film but they're horrible and even worse are the songs that the girls sing throughout. The film runs 77-minutes and not much really happens until the fifty-minute mark and that's when the film goes into overdrive to make sure all the characters are killed off. The film is all over the place so it's hard to keep up with what's going on and it appears that the kids are all killed off without much thought. The majority of the running time has Courtney having dreams or seeing various strange things including one scene where a frozen chicken attacks her! The most notorious scene has one of her friend's face explode due to an extra large pimple. The performances are all pretty bad with Crystal Bernard really coming off silly and it's easy to see why she refuses to admit that she was ever in the movie. As horrid as this film there's still no question that it's mildly entertaining just because of how bad it is. I can't imagine anyone not watching this thing with their jaw not on the floor and in shock just waiting to see what happens next. The movie is one of the strangest and most bizarre films from its era and that's saying quite a bit considering how weird movies were hitting video shelves back in the day.
