I had high hopes for the movie after watching "Greater", which I LOVED! This movie had many things wrong with it...from a really bad wig for the younger representation of the main character, to a lot of over- acting and really strange and unnecessary scenes. There were awkward attempts at humor and my husband and I were pretty disappointed that we spent the money to see it. I do like the idea of one changing their life and outlook and that the movie has moments where faith in God is a focus...that's why I gave it a 4. I really wouldn't recommend the movie though.

In a year of many bad movies (USA Today reported the year 2017 was one of the worst years for movies in 75 years), this was one of the year's best. This movie received very little hype and fanfare compared to many box office "turkeys" of that year did. It seems as though the theaters did not have very high expectations for this movie, considering the little promoting they did and release date they gave it. This was grossly underrated. I think the acting was really great. The actors worked great as a team to make a really heartfelt movie that is entertaining to watch. There are a lot of sports movies out there, but something about these guys dunking the ball just really hit home for me. I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys sports and like great dramatic films with a lot of heart. I cried in the end of it cause its not just as most the movies that ends with wining or so cause it wasn't a team story it's a story of friendship and respect at a critical time when the lead character's mom died....it was very touching and sad..... I don't want to say much about it but its really one good movie full of feelings and challenge to so don't you miss that one.. This movie is a very memorable movie, because it is so fun. It makes you feel good down inside, and it's an all around good movie. This should be nominated for a few Academy Awards. It would deserved it, but it won't. The title doesn't fit the pompous Academy. I would watch this movie again as it helped me believe that sports can have a deeper meaning than just winning or losing. Not only does this movie provide great acting, directing, and story but it also provides people today with a great message. Though race issues appear to be dwindling from the extent that they were during the time of this movie, a lot can be learned about the history of race issues and how the world has changed from 40 years ago with the help of this movie. The movie also contains a great message about humility. While Michael Diggs does have to deal with the problems of being black in a world out to arrest innocent black men, he stills manages to learn about hardships beyond race through players and others through a little bit of humility. I LOVED THAT. Seldom do movies come, which not only entertain us,but also teach us some values & lessons.This movie is just 1 amongst those!!! I believe that everyone should see the movie, because it doesn't appeal to just one type of individual. It's for Families, sports fans, couples etc. One of the best movies ever made. I read that little woman critic's review and laughed. You could tell she didn't have a clue about the world outside her little bubble. Oh how rare it is to find an inspirational movie such as this. Something people don't make anymore. This will have you welling up with tears of joy at seeing all people getting together for the better. I loved it when the kids got together. This is a must watch for anyone who is having a bad day and needs some cheering up. :) 10/10 Quality: 10/10 Entertainment: 10/10 Replayable: 10/10 Just watch it!!

i watched this movie 24 hours ago and am STILL thinking about it. I loved it! i had never heard of this movie until it was advertised on T.V. you don't wanna mis this movie, trust me i went to the cinema without knowing what great film a was about to see. I saw it with some friends who said that the film got quite good ratings. I saw it and understood just a little bit after that they were right. this is a real heart warming story that should leave everyone feeling good at the end, recommended for everyone. a movie that has the American dream written all over, but it works anyway, and it shows what is the best thing about us, it's a strong movie, and it's gonna make you drop a lil tear, unless you're ice cold, but it sure is a winner movie and it shows how winner mentality can unite people, even in times where movies have dismissed God. in the past several years, there has been an influx in the US box offices of sports movies, particularly footballl. These movies often carry cliché messages and dull character interactions. slamma jama, is exactly the opposite of these drab movies. this is an entertaining movie about an important topic. It is really great to see that a movie can show an important, and still current, issue and still be entertaining. This is mostly due to a nice plot and story, well thought through, that don't shy away from hard interesting situations and the very good performances from the entire cast. i feel that the emotion put out by the actors created and held the audience's attention as they battled through hardship after hardship. Overall, this movie ranks an ten out of ten for realism and entertainment. the use of music is also very good, both the music in the movie and that from "outside". All in all, interesting cast, good acting, story and directing and an interesting topic if it is at all possible, please go out and see this film. It doesn't matter how old you are. People of any age can enjoy it. The story is interesting, it doesn't get too serious and the acting is top notch. even the film's final credits hold audience attention. watch the film, then watch it again. You *will* remember and cherish this film for years to come.

What a wonderful concept and a film that should be seen by everyone....bought this on amazon and wept like a little baby....very touching....uplifting....it really does make you 'soar' at the end....kudos to everyone who made this film....may the prince of peace bless you mightily people!

This film is made so well that it gets my blood pumping, the dunk scenes, and personal dialogue is incredible. You leave this film on a high. We all need a modern day hero & Michael Diggs is one of them. Even the ESPN critic Stephen Smith endorsed this film from what I heard; I heard him on the radio supporting it; This one will leave you with tears and happiness. This was such an inspirational film. Shame on those critics. They don't have an ounce of humanity in them. The confirm what we already know about them. Again, this is a fantastic fist-pumper of a movie with action, drama, humor, tragedy, and thought-provoking ideas about finding yourself.

Yes, I would admit that this movie is not THE greatest basketball movie of all time. I suppose Hoosiers would get that title. The only real pet-peave I had is that the basketball players such as Jammer, Diggs, and others are not exactly Shakespearean actors. Of course, their athletic ability is perfect for their parts and the movie covers their acting deficiencies enough with plenty of playing scenes including numerous dunks by all of these dunk specialists. Overall this goes down as one of my favourite basketball movies simply because it tells it like it is – even if it does have it's weaknesses. The acting was good, but the story line was great: faith part was sincere and extraordinary. Chris Staples holds this together as much as possible. There are many cameos. It's overloaded and some of it is unnecessary. I strongly recommend you watch this movie, it's one of the best basketball movies ever.

10+ So happy my hubby and I saw this before the rest of the nation! SO HERE'S MY TWO SENSE: The basketball choreography was very gripping and the slam dunks were amazing. A fantastic movie and one that has a message to look up to! Very well written and directed. I found it was well done in the fact that it was professional but more importantly it meets people where they are at and brings forth challenges to be more like God in our lives! The acting was great, the plot generally unpredictable. It catches you by surprise (which holds your attention well). God bless all the producers for bringing forth such a movie that has high standards and is a good contrast against the low moral standards of movies today. IT REALLY IS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!

I'm rarely at a loss for words.....This movie is POWERFUL and life changing. As the other reviewer pointed out, you must see it to the end to really get the full meaning. It is rare to have the lights come on after a movie has ended and people staying through the end credits and also seeing tears streaming down people's faces. Once this film was over, I was one of them. I'll be seeing Slamma Jama again, to pick up on some things that went by too quickly the first time. God bless the actors and crew for this contribution to humanity. Do yourself a tremendous favor and go see this film. You won't regret it.
