Ayushman's movies are generally entertaining, so is this one but there are many absurd and totally unrealistic scenes in this movie which eventually make it an unrelatable and forced entertainer. It has some feel good moments in the 1st half where the humble beginnings of the couple's romance are shown but from about half way onwards the movie starts going down hill really fast with some complete bullsh!t concepts such as the couple trying to have $ex in a room while both their extended families are waiting outside to see the outcome etc, it doesn't even happen in the Western countries, let alone in a spiritual place such as Haridwar, India.
So, its such stupid storytelling which will put off any logical viewer. The movie does, however, portray some very interesting life situations such as the virtue of patience and loyalty; what true love really means; erectile dysfunction as a sensitive medical issue etc. On the topic of ED, the director has missed a good opportunity to give a good message to the youth of India. In one scene the hero is offered a cigarette by his regular chai-wala, indicating that he smokes and smoking is a strong contributor of causing ED in men. Director could've included this fact in a decent scene between the patient (hero) and a proper doctor instead of the veterinarian, as shown in the film. Thus, it is an ok film overall but it could've been made much more intelligently and smarter rather than the slapstick drama it presented in an effort create forced comedy.

SMS is a boutique movie that includes comedy, performances, and message. The cast has delivered a great outcome in regards of acting as per director's desires. Ayushmann and Bhumi look elegant. The dialogues of the film are awesome with the added advantage of cinematography and scenes.
Bhumi has emerged as an actress and Ayushmann is dashing as always. The life of a common Indian family is defined superbly.
It can be said a must watch -an entertaining movie.

OK. So a "new" topic has been discussed by this movie. Appreciate it. But that doesn't mean it's enough to make it worth a watch. It falls way short of making an impact and comes out an underwhelming ordinary tale, that you should rather skip.
The performances by lead actors are very good. Specially Bhumi has come out to be very mature and impressive. Ayushman too shows why he is still regarded as one of the most talented actors in Bollywood. The dialogue deliveries, facial expressionless, timing etc are on the mark. The small side jokes are funny enough to make audience laugh, that is fine. Also it feels heart warming to see actors from "YouTube" on big screen. Much to be applauded about this movie.
But... this movie suffers from missing(or weak)a central theme. There is severe absence of a solid "core" around which a movie should be made. Yes the protagonist suffers from a small dysfunction, but it doesn't cause a big conflict in the relationship he is about to have with her future wife. In fact his future wife is shown to be very supportive. The problem main actor suffers from isn't that serious that it justifies a big feature film on it. A short film would have the best the treatment for such topic. Basically filmmakers have tried to make a trivial idea interesting, added some funny jokes but have clearly fallen short by a long stretch. We as an audience need something more concrete.
Again Bollywood portrays lack of depth in it's products. Till the time this improves it will be very hard for me to look forward to Hindi movies every Friday. I will rather download World cinema from torrents.

Expected very high as the start of the movie and the first act were really good but as the story progresses it feels lengthy unecessary and stretched. The rating I put is based on the jokes and punchlines of the film.

The film is about the sexual problem of Mudit (Ayushman). This is a sweet love story and also a new concept. Suggu (Bhumi) does not leave Mudit even after knowing his problem and decides to live with him. Leaving the part, which contains some adult contents (Actually they are not adult contents, already about 1 million citizens of India are facing this problem), the film was about pure love and the support of the partner.

Bollywood is famous for masala films. But now talking about examples of rare films, SMS is one of them.
The plot revolves around Mudit Sharma (Ayushmann Khurrana) a young, middle class working boy who falls in love with Sugandha (Bhumi Pednekar), but because of his shy attitude he never confronts his feelings thus he sends her a proposal on a matrimonial website. After a little here and there both fall in love with each other. Now things take a turn when Sugandha discovers that Mudit is suffering from impotence. What happens next is a series of laughter and giggling that makes you entertain throughout the film.
Ayushmann's performance as a shy guy is really impressive. He has always portrayed his acting skills well in all of his films. His love interest in the film that is played by Bhumi, must say that she also deserves appreciation for role.
The film is not a satirical comedy, it actually depicts how do men in India react after they realize that they are suffering from impotence and how shy they feel while discussing these topics in front of their close one's. In one of the scenes Khurrana explains Bhumi his problem with the help of a biscuit which really seems to be an innovative way of telling someone your personal problems.
Hitesh Kewalya has written a delightful screenplay, with loads of humorous dialogues and a few emotional scenes. So the writing goes well with the film. He has written the script in such a way that without having a single dirty joke or just talking about the problem freely is missing and that is what is loved.
R. S. Prasanna, the captain of the ship has a good style of narrating the film and unfolding the story of the film. So, we can say that that director has become successful in making a masterpiece.
Thus, SMS will make you cry out of laughter and show you something that needs to be paid attention.

For me to choose between those brainless comedies and a comedy like this one, on any day I would choose this one. The movie highlights story of love birds where male suffers from impotency and still they get married. It happens all because of confidence from female lead and great response from male lead.
It is as if yesterday I was explaining my friend Viagra sustains erection and does not put one. To be frank I don't know the truth, but after googling I know it is used for the cases dealing with erectile dysfunction (impotency). For being a man of Science, it would have not mattered to me additional ten minutes in that direction. Yes it would have put light on some curiosity even if end would have been the same.
It's a humorous treat friends, general audience would like it too. Spend your penny, you won't be disappointed.
