Shooting Heroin

Every drug dealer as well as addicts need to see this. This movie is a definite eye opener from all points of view. One of my good friends overdosed on what he thought was heroin but turned out to be fentanyl. I really wish he could have saw this movie.

One of the most amateurish movies ever made. I can't believe all the fake reviewers. Don't waste your time.

I love how this movie manages to tackle a series topic but still feels like entertainment. I'm a sucker for a good story with a classic anti-hero who's fun to root for even as you cringe at his mistakes. Especially one who actually shows growth by the end. As for the moral premise: I love how the film acknowledges the frustration and anguish we feel around the opioid and other drug crisis, but also convicts us of the fact that the line between victim and perpetrator is blurry - there's no clear enemy to blame - and love must overcome fear and anger if we're going to save lives.

In 1967 Henry Fonda starred in Welcome to Hard Times, a Western. He plays a mid-mannered man driven to violence to confront one evil bad man terrorizing the town he lives in. The movie wasn't a big hit. I remember watching it and being left with a feeling of dread, not boredom. Forward to 2020 and a tough well done movie. SHOOTING HEROIN left me with a feeling of frustration on the overwhelming opioid epidemic in America. Took a lot of guts to make this movie. There isn't a action hero involved in gratuitous violence overcoming some super-villain. SHOOTING HEROIN shows the viewer the feeling of hopelessness in small town, due to teenagers overdosing on heroin. One guy takes matters in to his own hands to rid the town of drug dealers. Skillfully acted by Adam Powell, he drew me into his world of loss and vendetta. The actor that delivers a memorable performance is Garry Pastore, as Officer Jerry. He's the one town cop that resists the urge to confront the drug dealers outside the constraints of the law. Pastore portrays a good friend trying to help a friend, to the frustrated town cop who has to confront townspeople bent on violence. Pastore won best supporting actor at the Hell's Kitchen NYC Film Festival. His last line in the move is something like, "Doing what I always do. Protect my town." No spoilers here, but I'd like to see Pastore in a followup movie to SHOOTING HEROIN. It's a great movie tackling a complex subject. I've watched it twice and will watch it again.

Wow. I've never been so fooled by a high IMDB score. I should have read the reviews too. Every minute you spend watching this movie is a minute you'll wish you had back. It starts out very slow - and never picks up. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen but it just plodded along. And in the few cases where something did happen - such as when a civilian set up a roadblock to stop cars and search them - I could not suspend my disbelief. The writers managed to make every character into a shallow, boring caricature of a person. Even the lady who lost two sons to opiate overdoses was barely sympathetic and quickly became tiresome. Giving it 2 stars to be generous.

This is not a lighthearted movie, but it's a movie that will definitely touch your heart. You will feel the pain, suffering, despair that goes along with this horrible epidemic. You will also experience the love and emotions that are shared through families and loved ones. Definitely watch this from beginning till the end of the credits. You may learn a little of what users and their families go through. If you are not among those that are suffering, trying to understand is part of what might help them

A bunch of brainless, alcohol-guzzling, tobacco smoking, meat eating, car driving rednecks get together to 'stamp out' heroin use. The hypocrisy is palpable. The acting and directing are terrible. The movie is dreadful. It's enough to make you want to take drugs.

There are endless movies out there that appeal to the masses who just want to zone out and not have to confront uncomfortable subjects. Shooting Heroin is for those who want to take something away from a movie and perhaps cause them to contemplate serious issues of our society. It is a movie that captivates you early on and pulls your sentiments one way and then another. Without giving anything away, this movie shows one small town's reaction to the opioid epidemic that has engulfed their town and the emotional rollercoaster that carries them through deep darkness and toward the light. Summary: Perfect if you're looking for a "Real" movie not just gratutious entertainment!

This film covers a very serious topic, and doesn't gloss over the harsh reality of the world of addiction. It offers a message of hope but no easy answers. Absolutely amazing ending and superb acting.

I was waiting for something to happen but nothing does a total waste of time!
