Has anyone noticed, the goof in the scene where Isabelle takes Xavier to the lesbian party, it is when they are sniffing coke, or right afterwards, when Isabelle sits on the couch, that exact shot is done twice within a span of 30 seconds. She sits down on the couch, says a one liner with champagne in hand, and then the same take is repeated, I believe this is a goof, or was this done deliberately? Secondly, the goof where Xavier is walking behind the model down the Russian street in slow motion, you can see the lighting is darker on the street then when you see Xavier walking on the same street, either thats a goof or its done deliberately to show that the sun always shines for her, and not for Xavier. Does anyone know?

I don't speak the language so may be misunderstood the beauty of the movie. I loved its prequel, which primarily dealt with the college life of Xavier, the protagonist. This film is more on love-life or rather making the same. The on screen chemistry between the lead ones are appreciable. There were some great imagination at times with the movie sets. Sensational locations that would make you to pause the movie and enjoy for a moment. The main problem with the movie is that its too long and I felt boring. The story gets too impractical as the immigrant characters are free from unemployment. All that they care about is dating and ***. The movie may surely be good or better to younger adult audiences (may be teens or early 20's) but not my cup of drink.

I loved first part and I as really afraid to see the second part comes worse. But I loved second part even a little more then the first one due to brilliant soundtrack and some Russian scenes. being Russian I sometimes do not like scenes of Russian life in western movies since they are full of stereotypes and stubborn Russians. But pictures of Russia and Russian characters in these film look so true and natural that I could not find any single point to criticize. No matter how old you are I strongly recommend to see this movie...the ideal scenario is to look first part when you are about 25 and the second part when you are about 30 - then it will be maximum close to your feelings.

"Les Poupées Russes" is well made, features some playful editing and inventive sequences, and is overall fairly fast-paced and entertaining. Why didn't I like it, then? Well, mostly because the main character is a complete douche-bag. This was a bit of a problem in the previous film as well, but I found it easier to forgive then, since it was less prominent and the character was young and inexperienced. This time, though...
While he's supposed to have aged and gathered some experience, Xavier seems to have gotten even more indecisive and continues to treat the innumerable stunningly beautiful women in his life like crap. So you can't decide whether you want to sleep with Audrey Tautou, Kelly Reilly, or a supermodel? Boo f*cking hoo. Cry me a river, *sshole.

This french film is a sequel of L'Auberge Espagnol, a good film about a bunch of European students sharing a small apartment in Barcelona. There were some problems with that movie, though, that appear upfront in the sequel. Namely, this purports to be a celebration of a new, united Europe, but instead, it celebrates an isolated class, terribly content with itself. It is indeed very strange that in a film about Europe's youth, no third world immigrants appear, none of the characters seems to be unemployed or having employment problems. They seem too content seeing themselves as the people that will rule Europe tomorrow, and if that is true, you must start feeling sorry for that continent, since these people are smug, self-involved, and care very little about the misfortunes of others.

This film is about the love life of Xavier and the reunion of the characters in the Spanish Apartment which is brought about by William's wedding in Russia.
I was expecting more of a continuation of the Spanish Apartment, but instead the film goes in another direction to explore Xavier's failed love life. I should have known, as the characters have all moved on in the five years that passed. The film is fun and entertaining, there are so many laugh out loud jokes that can easily become classic in their own right. The international collage is even more explored in this film. Apart from the international characters, the story takes place in three different countries, and the decorations in the various flats are international as well (such as having Chinese posters). From little points like this, we can see that this film is thoughtfully made. It's a lot of fun to watch it with friends, and we all enjoyed it.

I've just finished watching this movie and thoroughly enjoyed it. On the whole i do think this was much more watchable than the first.
However, as in the first movie (L'Auberge Espagnole), i had little sympathy for the main character, Xavier. To be honest, i was even less sympathetic for him than the first movie as in the first he was young, inexperience and trying to "find himself."
It's possible i completely misunderstood the premise of the movie but it appeared to me that he had no idea what he wanted from a relationship and wouldn't be able to tell a good thing if it sat on his lap and crapped on him!

This is a lovely follow-up on L'Auberge espagnol. Nobody who enjoyed that should miss this. Especially if, like me, you like films that catch you up with characters you'd enjoyed before like Before Sunset/Before Sunrise. I wouldn't call this a sequel in the sense that it's a rehashing of the original film. Rather, it's a continuation or follow-up on the story. Loved it.
If this sounds intriguing to you, it's great. But for the proper full effect, watch L'Auberge first.
In all honesty, I now find myself saddened by the thought that M Klapisch may be done with them now. I hope that, in a few years, we get to see these old friends again. Only this time, get a better distribution company in the US. Unlike L'Auberge espagnol (which I saw at the cinema), if it weren't for Netflix, I wouldn't have known this film existed. I keep making deals with myself that I won't buy any more DVDs because we know they'll be obsolete in a few years, but here's another one I'll buy.

For all of you guys expecting a second "Auberge Espagnole", you're in for some serious disappointment. This might just be the most overrated movie I came across for a long time. Xavier finally tries to get a life five years after his Barcelona adventures. While the actors give a good performance on average, the script could hardly be worse. The difference between l'Auberge Espagnole and the sequel makes a good indicator for how uninteresting life becomes in the real world after school. I have nothing against love movies, but this one is just plain weak (no matter how hot some actors may be). All in all, a movie for teenage girls at best ; And not the smart ones!
