I get it, Hollywood hates Republicans. But the gratuitous slams against Republican party seemed contrived and nauseating. Would've been an enjoyable movie otherwise. Hollywood please stop. Do you always have to interject politics?! Other than the political overtone, I did think there were some good parts and some funny parts to it. I felt the ending had a good message. I do think that they made the male character a little ignorant, but I guess again another message was trying to be relayed by the writers, who seem to again interject their political and social viewpoint,. With movies like this, we should suspend our beliefs and just enjoy.

Jacks someone I've known about since he came in the scene, he's done some ok work like fresh meat, jungle cruise and even Clifford was a decent kids movie but he's not a good enough actor to be a lead, although it's his genuine voice, he's so wooden and fake and unnatural he's just really not funny or enjoyable to watch. This wasn't a good showing.
The other girl who I remember being raved about after fault in our stars has gone on to mediocrity, odd film was ok but overall most of her stuff has been below average. I know she had a nose job as her looks were questioned but she's another who's not a great lead, only recently Jennifer Lawrence stole the show In a rom com so it's definitely about ability and writing.
The script was so boring, I don't really get what they wanted to say? If robots get sentient and emotional we make them humans? Ridiculous. Are we surprised two cliches about men and women as characters meet in a lazy 2000s rom com way.
This film with this idea and this cast could've been a solid 8/10 but it went a stupid direction, decided to be unfunny and cast really poor extras, like 2 actors and some drama students. Weird.
Like many Amazon exclusives/sky exclusives that don't get main releases they're just utter rubbish considering what you pay. Only Netflix seems to have good original movies, Disney second.

I strongly believe that this little gem will, in time, become a new cult classic along with the likes of 'Idiocracy" or "The Room" or "Donnie Darko". It's perfect in its own way. I did not give it a 10 because of standard average cinematography. New Mexico comes out pretty but nothing in the framing of the image made me think "wow". From a certain point of view, it suited the movie that cinematography was "inconspicuous", there is so much going on all the time that there was no need for additional elements. As a passionate fan of Jeep, I loved the parts where a Gladiator is an active member of the cast. The main praise I have for this movie is that it brings points across in comedic terms, as a social satire and as a rom com without talking down to the audience, without lecturing. I absolutely adore the lead actors and really liked the character played by Paul Rust.

I personally cannot stand jack nor his humour (I'm British too) and this is the most painful movie. Not just because he is in it, but because it's not funny and boring as hell.
It's not only very UNfunny, but it's painful with not 1 but 2 Jacks in this! Won't say more as not going to spoil it if you do watch it.
If you like comedy movies with out any humour that are more boring than anything, then this is the movie for you.
If you like comedy movies to be funny and don't want to be bored senseless, this isn't for you. More so if you don't like jack whitehall!
The writing is poor and the comedy is even worse.
I only leave reviews if I feel it's needed.

Robots replace illegals (which are all deported) to do all the low end jobs in the U. S. A wonderful concept that will hopefully come to pass, making this movie a nice view of the future and a great comedy at the same time. The characters were hilarious in their bad behavior.
I gave this a ten out of ten because I'd love to see more movies that have this take on reality. And I really did think it was a 10/10 because it was so refreshing to see these kinds of concepts in movies again. It almost reminded me of an 80's scifi movie like Cherry 2000. Even though it's a comedy it has that vibe to it. Would watch again!

Interesting premise ruined by stupid politics and poor execution. This could have actually been interesting IF they didn't glaze the whole film with the same old tired Hollywood politics.
The actors were lame and the bad acting didn't help The lead guy was just so uneventful and wooden. Then the constant score being played throughout, usually and always done to mask an underlying bad stale boring film.
Set aside all those things, the main problem is that the robots weren't convincing as robots. They looked cheap, like the film itself. It looked like a low budget film.
It is REALLY hard to find a half way decent film nowadays. So having something like this with a good and unique premise blow it so hard, it's really frustrating.

No idea who convinced Shailene Woolley to make this stinker, but they should be ashamed. Maybe it was just the inane political silliness that drew her in... In any event, her talents were on full display, and utterly wasted in a lame attempt at a funny morality tale.
Maybe the moral of this story should be aimed at the elites who like to lecture the rest of us. There's a certain danger in taking for granted the people around you, particularly those close to you who may be cogs in the personal mechanism of your life. I think the filmmakers wanted to take a jab at conservatives, but accomplished a story about how ugly the wealthy elites can be when their morality is actually examined.

What we have here seems like a silly sci-fi romcom, it even works as such. But upon closer inspection you'll realize most of the jokes are aimed not at the characters on screen but rather at us, the viewers. The characters themselves are well written and well performed cartoons with single characteristic driving each of them, not with a fully developed character, they should have if they're to pass as relatable humans. Which means - what we're watching is in-fact a satire not a romcom. But since satire is often confused with comedy and comedy does sell better, it does make sense to disguise it as a silly rom-com.
Do have a closer look, you'll see the point is our never-ending quest for leisurely carefree living with as little regard as possible to anyone but us. So what would happen if we did get robots to do all our dirty jobs. What if we could build them to look exactly like us. Yes that would be illegal but when did the law stop anyone with enough money from breaching it. So this "what's if", is the starting point of this very clever movie. I won't tell you any more on the plot. Ill only mention the single major fault of this movie - a forced ending meant to suite its rom-com disguise. I'd rate it much higher without this forced end. Still, it's a fun clever movie worth your time.
