From the beginning of Rec 2 I was really excited to find out more about what had happened after the end of the first movie. Although the first movie was good there were many unanswered questions. Well you'll be pleased to know that many questions have been answered yet now there are new questions leading into the third movie.
I actually liked the second movie just as much as I liked the first as it still feels like it is part of the original storyline. Although there were a couple of ideas that just didn't work but for the sake of the film series I can move past that. I definitely recommend giving these movies a go but only if you intend to watch all of them. Otherwise you will lose out on the full affect of a pretty good horror series.

I applaud the courage of trying something new with the sequel, but it even tarnishes the print left from the original. Entertaining and fun enough, but vastly disapponting.

This is the sequel to the Spanish horror film rec. I thought this movie was good it added a lot of information and was filled with more scary moments but the story line kind of switched the direction it was going which kind of upset me.
This movie takes off 15 minutes after the first one ends. It follows a SWAT team that makes their way into the building to find out what exactly was happening in there.
This movie was good but it was not as good as the first. As you may remember in the first one it made it seem like it was a infection or disease that was causing all this but in this one they switch it to a religious thing which i found unfortunate because the first one was so much more believable.

(46%) One of the less awful found footage movies that has a decent pace to it, and more than its fair share of zombie based terror. It opens quite strongly as it follows a swat group en route to the apartment block from the first movie likened to the raid, and even though here the group's tactics leave a lot to be desired (they go strait to the top floor without cheeking the others which is a great way of getting killed). But once the second chapter comes round following three kids getting up to no good then it starts to loose focus and the movie's camera movements gets too shaky for it to be watchable at times. Besides the repeating use of more or less the same scares, its throwaway nature, and the eye ruining camera movements, this is worth a look for most horror fans, and maybe the best found footage flick I've seen.

Rec 2 picks up where the first left off and it takes place in the same location as the original. At first it's pretty cool, but gets old as fast as you realize Rec 2 is more of the same, shot in the same location, with... more of the same. The story trudges along with no direction aside from the periodic panting and some faint whisper about a magical antidote which can cure people from possession- ...What? An antidote to cure demonic possession?
There are some new gimmicks in the form of different camera viewpoints throughout the movie (since everyone apparently carries a camera), which, to be fair, was kind of cool. I am all for suspending disbelief when watching horror movies, but Rec 2 commits every horror movie cliché in the book with a slightly amusing, albeit predictable conclusion that felt like it could've been tacked onto the last 5 minutes of the first movie.

Barcelona apartments are great.
Stodgy sequel, only heats up in the last quarter - like the first film.
I spent the first half wondering if this was the return of Spanish fascism, with a priest and militarised police as the self-important heroes.
It got more interesting when the kids entered through the tunnel, and I got really interested when the babe reporter from the first film turned up with the night vision.
Again way too much jumpy camera, and way too much repetition of a single word in the dialogue. This time is was Vamos!
Overall this doesn't take me any further than the first episode. And the punk song on the end credits is lame.

Whilst I am hesitant to give any film a perfect 10, (REC)2 filled my evening with so many genuine scares, heart racing excitement and an ending to die for - I feel it would be a dis-service to this fantastic film to rate it any lower.
The same directors from the much loved original are back and wisely, they know this must be much more than (REC) with a SWAT team so a fantastic back story is introduced that throws just what sort of horror movie this is into question. I recommend you do not read any spoilers before watching, I was so pleasantly surprised by the sheer wealth of ideas heres and the near flawless structure and pacing of the movie has to be admired from a technical standpoint.
If you haven't seen the original, you should do so before watching this (even better watch them back to back) - you'll get so much more from it that way. I am surprised at the rating here, (REC)2 is a monumental success and a white knuckle ride few horror movies can compare to.
