Such movies should be encouraged and people from tamilnadu must unite to fight against such injustice shown towards them by other state people. People from Tamilnadu should get educated and also elect correct government which supports them. Also in Tamilnadu reservation and priority should be given to tamil people. Moreover keralites deprive tamil people of their rights in all sectors especially border places like coimbatore, kanyakumari, nagercoil, pollachi are all affected. Tamil people should be United from now onwards and stop atrocities like this against their fellow tamilians. Tamilians should stop being emotional and give importance to tamil language and support tamil people outside tamilnadu. Other language people are United whereas tamilians are not. It's a lesson to be learnt to save and develop ourselves.

"Rebel, boasts solid direction and commendable acting performances that kept me engaged. However, the film leaves a negative impression on Keralites due to its portrayal, which may not accurately represent the community. Whether based on a true story or not, if the depiction is accurate, it's disappointing. Acting-wise, the movie falls into the "okay" category, with unnecessary sentiment elements that detract from its impact. It's a one-time watch, but the ending feels inappropriate, leaving viewers wanting more closure. Despite expectations for more scenes featuring the talented Mamita Baiju, the movie fails to deliver on that front, lacking promising moments.

The film is based on true events that he had heard about a rebel student in Munnar, happening during the 1980s. Good cinematography. Speaking of the cast, all actors do their parts well, even though GV Prakash Kumar misses the mark when it comes to a crucial breakdown scene. Mamitha Baiju is good in whatever little role she has been given. Like her last film Premalu, there's also a professor character played by Karunas in Rebel, who plays a key role in the narrative. The characterization of the professor is truly sublime, probably the best in this film.
Directed by debutante Nikesh RS, has put a great effort.

Not worth the time - the premise was interesting, actors were good - but direction, screenplay, script and editing all an atter failure!
There is very little redeemable thing I could think of after watching this! It was that bad!
Mamitha's character arc was just plain stupid - there is no layer or depth to any character - not even the hero let alone the villians!
Attention to detail was totally wrong - the attire, hair style, setting, dialogues all seems to be mixed across multiple eras from 70s all the way upto late 90s! Basically clumsy execution !
Had the fight sequences (especially the last fight - which was boring and unnecessarily dragged) could have been cut and expanded the characters better.
There are possibilities in the story thread - GV Prakash tried valiantly - but there is nothing for him to save - since direction, screenplay and editing left him high and dry.

GV Prakash Kumar, with all his typical range of expressions, fits the part. His physicality actually helps the movie, as he never really becomes a larger-than-life hero & does carry the whole movie on his shoulder...
Mamitha Baiju, as the female lead, is mostly an on-looker who never really causes any trouble to the narrative...
The structure of this movie by Nikesh RS is extremely basic. Instead of fleshing out the story with a layered study of discrimination, Nikesh just throws a Kerala story-like imagination into this film. It is completely okay to have a fictional setting in movies. But when you are doing that in a story that talks about real places, a level of conviction is required... The movie actually simplifies the complex nature of the conflict into a mere hate campaign...
We all have seen a segment of the population, who shows hate towards a category of people based on their caste or language. Films addressing such political and sensitive topics are indeed a necessity, as art has that political layer to its credit. But when you monsterize everyone from a region in order to create a mass hero, the gross generalization is something that is extremely problematic...resulting in creation of unnecessary hatred...
There is no Malayali character with a positive role in the film.
The movie has a cliched format of storytelling and is melodramatic.
There are no lighter moments anywhere because it is a serious story.
Poor writing makes it predictable. Director Nikesh RS fails in the execution...
Overall Rebel keeps all the political fronts on the wrong side and focuses only on the political friction or the injustice done to the TSP.

Excellent movie plot. Reality/Facts depicted beautifully. The purpose of this movie is definitely not to create any animosity between Malayalis or Tamils. But the movie spoke the truth of how the minority Tamils by treated by SOME ignorant heartless people in Munnar. Till now the minority tamils are facing discrimination and exploitation by huge corporations and people. Hopefully the current generation can create a change ! Maybe the minority tamils can be better treated by giving a place of their own? Maybe the women can be treated equally in terms of gender instead of looking at them as cheap labour in Munnar Tea estates ? No one is a slave for anyone -The main message of this movie.
Please watch the documentary ' Mannu - Sprouts of Endurance' for a better understanding of the issue discussed in the movie.

What kind of fool will write and direct such a movie...please show some conscience to not generalize your story as it may cause hatred especially in this new generation era..it will only spread hatred between Tamil and kerala people..Your story telling is too narrow and biased .Such substandard stories and films are a waste of time and money ..your sheer brilliance of absurbity is evident in each frame...Dare to take such endeavour not from your hallucinations but from a neat perspective, that which won't hurt the sentiments of the masses..deliver it in a general way and not biased .. This area won't suit you brother and you deserve more flop movies if you have such kinda evil mindset...utter waste movie ,obliged to be in waste bin.

Good story and screenplay. One of the best efforts from GV Prakash. Cast and crew is the big backbone of this story. Shows the real face of politics in one word dialogue after interval. Hats off to the team. Please do watch. Kindly ignore the negative comments. Violence is shown but without that we can able to travel in this movie. Over all I liked the movie. I don't know why this movie does not get too much support in theatres. If promotions are made then it could be the blockbuster also. Thanks rebel team for making a good story. All please do watch. Overall rating for this movie is 8 out of 10.
