"Read it and Weep" is about a freshman girl who turns in her diary on accident, and thus, it is put in the paper and then later it is published into a book. Later, it becomes a best-seller and everyone just so happens to start reading exactly when her book comes out. The thing is, with this movie, it's like watching the other millions about teenage life. And this one is incorrect as well. The characters lack structure and they're very stereotypical. Throughout the movie, she is stalked by 'the populars', a gang of 3-4 annoying girls who thrive on making her life a living hell. The leader is bent on ruining her life, especially when she finds out it was her diary and not just a story. All during the movie, her friends are activists and are trying to stop animal cruelty with rabbits. The point of it all is, the movie just isn't realistic. It's not even one of those movies that aren't realistic but are fun to watch. If you want to watch something similar to this, I recommend "Harriet The Spy"

This movie shows the trials and tribulations of high school and how completely awful it is when you talk or in this case write about "the truth". Jamie Bartlett tries to find her way through her freshman year unnoticed but when her private and personal journal gets published into a book by accident things get a little "different". Read it and Weep is a nice movie that shows that sometimes movies can be just as great as the book! The book was, of course, better but Disney did a great job molding it into an Original Movie. The book "How My Private Personal Journal Became a Bestseller" is awesome. To get more of the vibe for the movie I suggest you read the book first though. All in all, in my opinion,I LOVED IT!

Read it and Weep, is just a pathetic attempt by Disney to grab the same audience that they did with High School Musical. High School Musical was great it grabbed everyone and made them focus on the realization of high school drama. Disney you did it already, why try again. Not only that but why are you endorsing crazy behavior. I am serious Jamie is crazy, she is seeing and talking to IS-WHO ISN'T REAL BY THE WAY. Yep it was a flop. I hope they don't make it into a DVD, talk about a waste of money. No offense to the actors, you guys did great, but everything about the whole film sort of stunk. But I wish Disney the best of luck with High School Musical 2. Though it may also flop.

I personally liked it, but it definitely was not the best movie I have ever seen. It was cool how the 2 sisters got to work on the same production with each other. I was pretty sure that Marco looked like an Asian cartoon character, there was just something about him. Connor was not the best looking guy for this movie, but I'm sure that they got him for the whole "Underdog finally gets the girl story." One thing that I don't understand is why Marco, which looked to be a Junior, would go out with Jamie, a Freshman. Guys of this time do not do that. Also, in the very end of the movie, after the whale got destroyed, and while Jamie and Connor came back inside, the whale was in perfect shape. Hmmmmmmm. Not that hard to notice. Definitely could've been a lot better.

as a teen, i loved this movie. when i first saw the commercials and previews on Disney channel i thought it's one of those stupid Disney channel movies. after searching the movie in IMDb i read the plot and thought it is a pretty confusing movie, considering the fact that Disney channel left a lot of important facts about the movie, which would help to get more viewers. overall i watched the movie on premiere day and thought it was absolutely amazing, a little predictable, but still amazing. i really thought Kay and Danielle panabaker did an amazing job, and Kay's character was real different than the character she played in 'life is ruff'. i personally thought Danielle should have played Jamie, but either panabakers work. i really liked the plot, the music, and the whole script. just be yourself **

This movie makes "Life is Ruff" look good. Seriously, it was about the corniest Disney Channel Movie of the century. What i really didn't understand was how Danielle Panabaker was one of the "stars" when all she did was pop up randomly in the movie and spit out a few lines like "don't do it" and "what do you think your doing?" I mean there were so many better actors to give credit to, for example, Jason Dolley (One word. Hot.) did a decent acting job, as well as many other members of the cast. Overall, it was a terrible movie with a few good things scattered about. For example, the sea-weed filled whale at the end was a creative and unpredictable touch to an otherwise "been-there, predicted-that" movie....although Sawyer's reaction to having seaweed dumped on her was way over-dramatic....i thought she was going to sink to her knees and screech, "I'M MELTING, I'M MELTING" And, as a commenter previously mentioned, the scenes had no flow or structure. Climax? none. Lesson? Nada. Rising/falling action? zip.

Oh boy, first off, this isn't a drama or a serious movie like some reviewers critique it like. Please, common. Being that it's pretty clean and held my kids attention for almost two hours, it's pretty good. My kids are too young to catch all the wrong things in this picture, and there were many. The plot overall is decent. Kids are really into reading nowadays(believe it or not), so this flick caught their attention. OK, it was hyped up all month too on the Disney channel. Many of the young actors had little experience and really did a nice job. To me, a sign of a good actor is someone who doesn't act like they're trying not to act. Think about it. The Panabaker sisters did a great job. The youngest had a load of work and carried the film. Sawyer played a good witch. I always love high school movies or shows, I guess they bring you back. This is definitely a 9th grader flick though. I'm happy Disney finally kept all the sex, gay, and all the other trash stuff out of this movie. I didn't mind all the Sybil type stuff. The age of the characters was all wrong. The beautiful Mom was way too young for the Dad, and no way was old enough to be the Mom of the older brother. The token black in an all white school. The stupid PETA type stuff wasn't needed. It OK though. flamio

I thought it was okay, it just didn't flow. I don't really get the point of it, if there is any. I really didn't like the scene where she is dressing herself for the dance, it seemed so out of place. I honestly found the talking to herself out loud thing kind of disturbing. She freakin acted like she held Is's arm and dragged her across the dance floor. On national television she was talking out loud to her. How dumb is that? I think it would have been better if she had just thought the thoughts to herself. What is up with her thinking by turning off her computer that it would leave Is behind? I think they should have just left out Is talking to her, the scenes where she was showing what she would do if she was Is were fine. It was freaky Is talking to her all the time. Her showing up at the dance is stupid. Oh and don't get me started on all the typical stories. We have the 'mean' brother coming through in the end of the story. Then the pizza parlor story, of course it ended up not closing. The guy best friend being in love with his best friend but her being 'in love' with the most popular guy. Hmmm, Lizzie McGuire? It was quite predictable. I also didn't get how easily she fell for Connor over a poem. :S Out of the blue she just kissed him because she realized he wrote a poem for her. The dance was quite stupid too. Oh yeah we have the animal rights best friend of course. The best friends feeling neglected after the main friend becomes famous. Also, how would teachers allow the whole school to be booing her? I hate how she can just come up with this huge speech all of a sudden and everyone forgives her. It is just a really poorly laid out movie, with no climax, or point. Character wise a lot of the actors were great. Jaimie- I thought the actress did a good job portraying her, it was just a dumb character to have to portray Is- gah that was the absolute stupidest character ever, but the actress did a good job Harmony & Lindsay- great actresses Connor- he is cute, good actor Lenny- holy crackers he is amazing, i looove that song he sang, i hate that one song he was listening to though...the outside of the crowd or something Sawyer- over the top, i hate the way she talks, it is annoying...i agree with one commenter about when the seaweed was dumped on her she looked like she was going to scream i'm melting Yes, my comment is kind of scattered and has no order, but hey, it goes with the theme of the movie right?
