Just like the predicted Rapture of 2012 (as prophesied by Ronald Weinland of the apocalypticist COG-PKG), end of the world comedy Rapture Palooza proves to be something of a non-event. Despite a potentially very funny premise, and a promising start (the slo-mo credits sequence is surprisingly stylish), the film is extremely hit and miss, with the majority of gags being misses. Much of the humour relies on smut and profanity, which I have no problem with, but when I fail to find a * joke funny, we definitely have a problem! To make matters worse, the whole production has an air of cheapness about it, particularly the special effects scenes which look like someone knocked them out quickly in After Effects on their iMac (I suspect this may not be far from the truth). Overall, this is very much like that other terrible rapture themed comedy of 2013, This Is The End, only none of its stars are anywhere near as obnoxious as Seth Rogen. 3/10, plus an extra point for getting Anna Kendrick into that white dress (which distracted me slightly from the dire comedy).

I don't know if I'll ever be able to make it all the way through this. It looks like a direct and very unaffectionate mockery. But I noticed that if you look at it long enough, the very things that they are poking fun at begin to take on a creepy and somewhat unsettling connotation. Cursing crows, blood rain, falling fire rocks, zombie apocalypse, etc. Sadly, the movie is not clever enough to overcome its own stupidity, which is to basically look God in the face and stick your tongue out at him in total disrespect. This movie is on the line between poking fun at human arrogance and misplaced fanaticism and making fun of God himself. This is one of those movies you can't unsee once you look at it, and to tell you the truth, I almost wish to God I had never saw a second of it. But being a graduate student of theology, how can I resist? Tragically, parts of this disrespectful farce are almost funny.

the worst and most Anti Cristian film I saw. Avoid it at all costs! don't watch it. it will offend you if you are a believer . it's not funny , just a waste of my time and I totally regret watching it. I just wanted to see where this stupidity would go! my mistake and 1 point is too much! I wish I could put zero but I can't! no acting, no script why did they filmed it? who paid for watching it in the theatres? I am sorry but that's my opinion and the worst thing is that I spend almost 90 minutes of my life for this crap what Is more frustrating is that I have to write a few more lines in order to be able to post !!!!!!

OK so i honestly wouldn't have given this movie a 10 if it wasn't for all the low rating and the reviews bashing it. Probably an 8. But it was hilarious and entertaining the entire way through and parodies the bible in a way no other movie has yet. Part of the humor is how mundane or annoying it makes things that were supposed to be terrifying and apocalyptic. And i get the christians freaking out about how this film is sacrilegious or something, but the rest of you, i mean come on! Do you guys not have a sense of humor? I mean that scene at the end just makes it worth it. I don't want to spoil it but they have a pretty funny depiction of our lord and savior which makes for some pretty hilarious dialogue. And the ending is entirely unexpected and ridiculous, which they point out, is about as ridiculous and nonsensical as the rest of the book of revelations. You can tell rob coddry was involved in the writing cause its got some children's hospital style parody, and a lot of the same cast, only with a bit more intelligent characters. The attitude of the film is basically, well this entire situation sucks and both god and the devil are dicks. which is sort of my view anyway. "blood??? its raining blood? thats not disgusting. what the * is the point of that? there's no point!" ...right though?

When I first heard of this movie, I was very intrigued by the idea and the cast. But I wasn't ready for the disappointment, that I was going to meet. The (poorly written) jokes almost never hit, which is the worst thing, that can happen for a comedy of this kind. The cast did, what they could do with the material, but it just wasn't enough. The awkward scenes between Robinson and Kendrick was just that: awkward. Not funny. And that is a shame, because these are actors, who normally make laugh pretty hard. The highpoint of the movie for me, was Rob Cordry and John Michael Higgins, who stood for a couple of laughs each. 2 stars for the cast, and 2 stars for the concept, is all that I can give.

There have been a lot of ensemble comedies as of late with a few working and others struggling to find their place. The latest Rapture Palooza brings together a great cast including Anna Kendrick, John Francis Daley, Ken Jeong, Thomas Lennon, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, and Tyler Labine to tackle the biblical end of the world, but does it have the story and execution to keep it all together or will it feel like the end of the world trying to get through it? Rapture Palooza follows a young couple who are forced into a battle with the Antichrist amidst a religious apocalypse with only the help of some pot head teens and an undead neighbor obsessed with mowing his lawn. This movie had everything it needed to work and does entertain for the most part, but somewhere along the way things get a bit cluttered. The first half of the movie is pretty entertaining and fast paced setting up this world, but as it moves forward it goes from clever to almost stupid. Craig Robinson who is normally pretty damn funny seems to be phoning it in at one point and then forcing it the next. He still has some great moments, but just doesn't live up to his normal fun. Anna Kendrick does a great job with her character keeping the goofiness to a minimum while seemingly taking this world seriously. The rest of the cast are hit and miss with a lot of their one-liners somewhat out of place, but a decent amount of them work as well. This is one of those films that will probably only entertain a select group which is most likely the only people that will check it out anyway. There are some great funny moments and the film does entertain, just not as much as it could have given a little more polish to the script.

This film is one of a genre that I watch to the end even if what I have seen is rubbish. That is because I am waiting for some redeeming feature. Did not find much if anything to laugh or chuckle about in this film. The story had such potential then got repetitive and boring. Not much information was given as to why Mrs Lewis was sent back from Heaven. Too little of the heaven and hell and why the rapture happened. The anti Christ was played so badly that I was embarrassed. Racial stereotypes can have great comedic value if played well. This was just cringe worthy. The only redeeming feature is Anna Kendrick who played her part very well.

I find that many people who write negative reviews about movies tend to dislike them because they didn't reach their original expectations. This movie is no exception, several previous reviews talk about how it was a disappointment, but what were you expecting? This film was never meant to be a blockbuster hit. It's just controversial fun in every sense of the term. The performances were excellent; I actually only watched the movie for Anna Kendrick, and she definitely didn't disappoint. The movie was just fun and I constantly found myself laughing out loud despite the lack of complexity in the humor. The whole film was just funny, it pretty much just took the mickey out of Christianity and it did it proudly. Would definitely recommend for anyone who doesn't take things too seriously and knows how to have a laugh.

OK it is very low budget. And true it would probably be best seen on a TV rather than in a theater. But it never got boring for me. Some much more expensive Hollywood comedies do. This one was consistently funny. The writing was excellent, the jokes frequent and well written. Anna Kendrick narrates and is the female lead opposite John Francis Daley. Between the two of them they are likable and have plenty of chemistry. The devil is hilarious. Managing to cover every angle of lascivious humor possible. The stoner scenes are also very funny. The final confrontation features another of my favorite comedy actors Ken Jeong doing what he does. Look, what would you prefer, a big budget special effects heavy movie with leaden dialogue and a lot of very lame jokes... or a snappy funny movie made on the cheap with some brilliant people in it. I know which I prefer. ( And it's got Anna Kendrick in it dude.... )

It always amazes me to see the extent of stupidity rampant among anti-religionists full of angst against what do not understand. This is ubiquitous in the States these days, due to patent ignoramus clowns like Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris publishing terribly researched, flaw laden, incredibly badly reasoned books against religion. Dawkins has a Ph.D. in zoology? Really? Well let him stick t o zoology seeing he's utterly incompetent as a philosopher. What has he ever brought to the world in great discoveries as a zoologist? Nothing. So just take one reviewers stance on the negative reviews here: "All the negative reviews come from people who do not like to have their faith in religion questioned." So typical and so ill reasoned, like everything else in atheism. Read those reviews. Do they sound like they're all written by religious types? No. Not at all. The truth is that reviewers like this don't like to have their blind faith in "nothing creating everything" questioned. That's atheism in a nutshell, just ask Hawking, nothing created everything, for no purpose and all is to end in eternal oblivion. Wow, amazing life philosophy that. As everyone else with unbiased brains stated, the movie sucks, period. Get over it! It sucks big eggs from any religious point of view -accept the the atheist religion- or none at all; just some basic common sense and a tiny little smidgen of good judgment. Maybe this is why only disgruntled and angry atheist types, that believe there is only one god in existence, themselves, like this glaring piece of trash. You want a really great example of a really bad example of moving making? Watch this movie, and weep.
