Mel Gibson owned the 90s and early 2000s and Ransom is one of his top five movies. Watching it again today brought back a lot of nostalgia. Gary Sinise and his fine self rounded up a well-cast ensemble.

This film is just so good, the suspense, the acting, the, well everything about it is just so good. Perfect for a video marathon with your mates. I don't really like action films but this is so different it has a gripping story line and the violence IS essential to the film rather then just putting it in for the lads. Really good movie.

Ransom is a very good film which I really enjoyed watching. The film is full of intensity, drama, emotion and grabbing with action. The film was different to any of Mel Gibsons other thrillers such as Lethal Weapon, maybe not as aggressive, violent or powerful as that film but the film definitely was a very good film which wasn't boring at all. The film has some by excellent acting by Mel Gibson, Rene Russo, Brawley Nolte, Gary Sinise, Delroy Lindo, Lili Taylor, Liev Schreiber and Donnie Wahlberg. The acting by Gary Sinise as the malicious and corrupt cop Dt Jimmy Shaker was tense, dramatic and really great to see.

Ransom has some nice twists and turns in the plot-- when the victim becomes the aggressor everything changes. As usual Gary Sinese was exceptional as the cold, calculating bad guy and Gibson as an impassioned father. Rene Russo also is very credible as the wife/mother of a son in danger.... A satisfying film with enough plot to keep the movie moving at a fast pace.

Wow. This was a phenomenal movie that truly deserves applause. The most impressive part of this movie was that the actors and actresses in this movie conveyed their emotion so well, it was almost as though one could feel it himself. Every time that Gibson would have a nervous breakdown, sympathy from the audience would result, rather than a ho-hum feeling. And when everyone hears the gunshots on the telephone, Rene Russo portrays almost exactly what any concerned mother would do and how one would act. The plot, with the father and mother torn between easy, conventional rescue, and hard, crafty tactics, totally blew away what any family would do, but in real life, it is quite plausible that something like that would happen, but only if you're expecting the unexpected. All in all, this movie ranks up in the top of my list, and it gives me more respect for Mel Gibson and Gary Sinise.
