Let me start by saying, I was really looking forward to watching this movie knowing a about this from the days when Rallying was the be all of Motorsport, and as a pretty big fan of the the sport back in those heady days.
Sadly this movie falls short in so many areas, it doesn't draw the viewer in and make them feel how special this era of Rallying really was, and what bugs me about movie makers and this one in particular, they have 3 languages in this movie well 4 if you include English, and there is not one subtitle so the viewer cannot understand the intricate details of what the engineers are talking about at the factory, or indeed the characters, in German, French and Italian, and maybe it doesn't matter to the non car buff, and perhaps this movie wasn't really made for us Rallying or car fans, but then what a waste of time, could have been so much more.
Overall I was disappointed with the movie, it could have been so much better and for a Rally fan much more immersive, the acting was pretty poor as well. 3/10 from me I'm afraid, I gave up after 50 minutes of disappointment.

As petrolhead, racing driver and journalist I always like cars and racing stories. But we are in era when films are made just to be made, and this one is the same. If you wan't viewers, you have to add drama, if you want drama, you need to make story up. It is great year for rallying, movie actualy contains some facts, but it has bad timing, bad directing, bad characters, poor acting and skips important events. When at the end for dramatic purposes somehow include 1985 Corsica event with fake driver, movie has it. There are better told documentaries, like Clarkson's. Movie to forget, unfortunately.

Without big hollywood film tycoon budgets pushing your economical spine into something that is caracterized as ''seeworthy'', and completely roadworthy film for the squemiest of WRC enthusiasts, its just to declare that this rallysport history feature movie lack alot on many areas and that it is made more as an enthusiastic motorholic project than a real good biopic of the sport that also have had norwegian drivers on top of the hill.
It lacks the glamour, its far to panned up on the focals and itsnot well edited, close to incoherent on the storybook too, and the lack of real blockbusting actors makes this story feel as cheap as everything was back then in the good ol' days.
Theyve managed to scrape the european veteranautomobileclubs inventory of rally and contemporary cars, so it may share a bliss together with the oldest part of the audience in the cinema.
The grumpy old man have never cared much for engines and speed, therefore i expected far more than this product.so just a small recommend for the average joe.

Equals total fiction. And yes, at the end of the film the filmmakers admit as much, but as someone who is intimately familiar with the events surrounding the creation and racing of the Legendary Lancia 037, this film does it a grave disservice.
There is neither enough tension in the film, enough bystanders (indeed, WRC events are packed to the brim with spectators coming from all over the world) or enough of the cars themselves but more importantly, there simply isn't enough detail about the courses.
The history of the '83 WRC is rather glossed over in favour of interpersonal drama which was carried off in a rather hamfisted way.
The director and writing team had so much nailbiting material to work with and their results were just....mediocre. Watch the documentaries on YouTube instead.

Not a well told story. Poorly written and poorly directed. If you don't know the story go and save yourself an hour and a half and watch Jeremy Clarkson's documentary on Youtube which is way more exciting than this movie which to be honest doesn't make much sense half the time.
Sometimes sports movies are overdramatic and corny especially made in Hollywood but this time I was actually was missing Hollywood and all the cheesines
At least the movie looks good and if you're a rally or a racing fan in general then you might want to check this one out just for them glorious Group B cars. But set your expectations low.

Watch, take it for it is but as a mediocre enthusiast this was below par. Knowing the story from previews when it was happening(and I was only ten) this is a sad attempt. An opportunity to tell a great story with a little more enthusiasm was lost. This could have been great,a little more investment would have made such a difference. But to take it for what it is,it's okay, but with all tge modern cgi it could've been so much better. I think it trys to take in so much detail from am an era that will be famous in motorsport forever, that it loses context.
Like I said earlier,an opportunity was lost, this could have been made in to a franchise,or at least a four part, with more detail character reference and action. There are true to life documentaries more entertaining than this to be be fair,it is nothing like the Shelby vs Ferrari movie. I'm disappointed, in this day and age a far more entertaining and engaging movie is not too much to ask for.
