I've seen quite a few Shudder-produced films and for the most part, without sugar coating it, they've been a load of old tripe.
This one seemed like an interesting concept, if only to see how they could make quicksand seem like a credible and entertaining threat. As it transpires... they didn't.
The plot surrounding the titular quicksand isn't anywhere near as thick as the mud the couple inevitably get stuck in (that's right, in a film called quicksand, it isn't even quicksand they get stuck in, but mud) with them on the verge of divorce.
The pair go on a hiking trip, get robbed, bolt headfirst into a bog and get stuck. Well, the wife does and the husband has to dive in to save her when she goes under, something that doesn't happen again in the film, even when they pass out or panic, begging the question why it happened in the first place.
The couple end up having deep and meaningful conversations while up to their neck in mud and corpses, in between fighting off threats like ants and snakes.
It's the snake that creates the most bizarre moment of the picture though. Despite being petrified of them, AND it already biting her husband, the wife decides she needs the snakes body to escape. Now, in order to lure it closer to her... she throws various objects at it.
Rather than flee in the opposite direction, as nearly all animals would do when a random flashlight smashes down just next to them, the snake takes it upon itself to find out who threw it and even has the wherewithal to sneak up on her when doing so.
It was at this point I zoned out, and nothing I saw after it could convince me this film was worth watching.
Another shudder 'classic'.

I had to stop watching this silly movie at the exact moment the main character hit the car jacker in the head with the piece of wood and fell to the ground. He yelled "Run"!, instead of keeping on hitting him in the head till he was dead..When I heard of the movie quicksand I said oh good. It should have a lot of action and suspense. Nope Not this movie. I found that a lot of the circumstances were very unrealistic for real life. The acting is somewhat forced. The other character actors are barely watchable. Except for 1 or 2 incidents in the movie that were fairly well acted but poor lighting.

A couple who are going to get divorce soon went for trekking in forest area...
But unfortunately they fell down in quicksand and try to survive in it...
They found another body in same hole and got rifle and bad as well...
And at one stage snake bite them and they suffered more than before...
Finally both are escaped from it and get together...
Normal survival movie and there is no special in it...
One time watchable movie...

The movie Quicksand has a 4.3 on IMDb, and people call it boring, the acting wooden, and lacking tension... funny, I completely disagree. I liked the actors, empathized with them, and didn't find it boring or wooden or lacking tension.

Sad to say... a laugh is not what I was aiming for trying to watch this.
The type of snake is constrictor and non-venemous... as another reviewer even stated... live bearing LOL
As if that wasn't enough... the wife supposedly knocked an egg loose? If it is the type of snake to lay eggs and protect... they don't leave them.
A VISIBLE clot in his neck and she is going to cut it out? Soooo much there and that isn't even the dialogue.
Want a laugh? Maybe watch but I am not interested in another film by this director/writer...
Please research before you write this kind of... drivel... and "never heard of someone dying in quicksand," really?
It doesn't do real snakes any favors.
As others have said... horrible inconsistencies about how far things are and the shape/size of the quicksand pit.
And how clean they both are when out? Oooh man... his boots look fresh off the shelf when they stretcher carry him to the ambulance. What?

So I watched this with a friend who had a wisdom tooth removed this week and had a considerably better time during that dentist trip than watching this film.
We absolutely love a rubbish film but this went too far. TOO FAR!
All I could think about was how comfortable they looked standing up in the apparent quicksand, plus why does the woman look stoned all the time, and how much more condescending can the man get?
All in all, an actual genuine waste of time. Which is coming from a lover of terrible films. I dont even have more words but I'm being forced to find some for this review/warning.
Oh yes, a final thought is how are people's faces so clean coming out of that mud? Seriously.

Omg, this movie is so boring it's just surrounded by dialogue and doesn't have a lot of transitions or no horror thriller. I like the female lead like in the movie: "hush, alone2020". The distinct strength of strong girls attracted me. As for Sofia's part, I found her to be stubborn, easily panicking, which made me quite bored and uninteresting. The scene of falling into the hole is not natural. And her boyfriend part makes me feel that he's just as annoying as Sofia herself and he's not very handsome, I hate him when he tries to be optimistic in the beginning but ends up becoming pessimistic. Intention to commit suicide. I didn't feel anything at the end, it looked nothing special, but it didn't help me breathe a sigh of relief after watching a dramatic movie. Ok enough said.

As stated before a movie about two people stuck in mud is well... boring
let me sum it up for yall so you dont have to sit through a 1 hour and 25 minutes movie
the womans personality can be simmered down to hot feisty latina mother cuz shes a woman
the man is an alcoholic distant father
the snake/mother/rope/villan has undoubtly the most character development in this movie
and thats saying a lot since its a well snake...
its so inconsistent with the elements, the man got poisined and within lets say an hour he almost dies. He faints and so does the woman, why does she faint? We have no clue
in the ending of the movie it suddenly turns night out of nowhere to create a sad attempt to immitate time in this sick stupid joke of a move
imo watch grass grow or water evaporate and youll get about the same :)

Well, who would have figured that getting stuck in quicksand would be so unfathomably boring?
When I sat down to watch this 2023 thriller from writer Matt Pitts and director Andres Beltran, I had never actually heard about the movie. But I will say that the synopsis for the movie was interesting enough. However, I scrolled through some of the reviews here on IMDb, and it wasn't all praise and admiration for the movie.
Yet, I opted to watch "Quicksand" on the account of the taste of the reviewers that I had read differed from mine. But I have to say that writer Matt Pitts put together a very bland and boring script for director Andres Beltran to bring to life on the screen.
I must admit that I never felt that the Sofia (played by Carolina Gaitan) and Josh (played by Allan Hawco) characters were ever in any real danger in the movie. And it seemed like they could just have turned around and easily pulled themselves out of the mire. It just never came off as being a dangerous situation and the wooden acting and cringeworthy dialogue just didn't help to convince me.
The movie has a very small cast ensemble, which means that there was all the more pressure laying on the few performers on the cast list. Sadly, however, they just weren't given any chance to carry the movie, because the script, the dialogue and the character gallery had the appeal of sitting down to watch grass growing. Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in "Quicksand".
I didn't stick around to finish watching the movie, because at the 56 minute marker, I was just bored to tears. And I had even dozed off once throughout the course of those 56 excrutiatingly long minutes. And believe you me, when i say that I am never returning to finish watching the rest of "Quicksand".
My rating of "Quicksand" lands on a two out of ten stars.
