Stumbling upon the 2023 Mexican comedy "Fuga de Reinas" (aka "Queens on the Run") while perusing the available movies on Netflix, of course I opted to sit down and watch the movie, based on the synopsis. I hadn't heard about the movie prior to sitting down to watch it, however. Writer Martha Higareda put together an enjoyable enough script for director Jorge Macaya to bring the screen. "Fuga de Reinas" is a road-trip movie with a bit more to it, and there were a fair amount of funny moments throughout the 96 minutes that the movie ran for, and the character gallery was definitely interesting, and those helped to set "Fuga de Reinas" aside from numerous other road-trip movies. The acting performances in the movie were good. And given my very limited exposure to Mexican cinema, I have to say that I wasn't familiar with a single actress or actor on the cast list. But it should be noted that the performances on the screen were good, and they definitely had some good talents on the cast list. "Fuga de Reinas" is a light-hearted comedy, one that unfortunately came and went without leaving much of a lasting impression on me. Director Jorge Macaya's 2023 movie is good for a single viewing, but there simply isn't enough contents to the script to support more than a single viewing. My rating of "Fuga de Reinas" lands on a five out of ten stars.

This film will be on lists of worst Mexican movies of 2023. It seems like they try to force women's empowerment into a cheesy comedy. The film focuses solely on female lead characters while making all male characters non important. The comedy is juvenile with the typical fart jokes, repetition, and absurd storylines like adding a random rooster. It's disappointing to see Martha Higareda as lead writer of the film. Having followed her podcast I thought she would show more creativity. Instead it seams like Netflix is just filling a quota for Mexican content while they poke fun of serious problems like kidnappings, the drug trade, corruption and poverty.

I didn't want to juge this movie from its beginning, but it just got worse... the movie was way to much and did not have a context that would hook watchers to watch the rest of the movie. This movie doesn't have one still plot line that would carry on to the very end, more so a meaningless event that happed so the main characters can come together to have problems that just don't make any sense throughout the movie the main characters just got thrown a of string problems that some effected them some more then the other but the main problem of this movie was that how bad the problems are and how they just didn't have any sense.

Place all your assumptions aside. If you're secure enough with your masculinity or toxic views of gender roles, sit back and enjoy the movie. Four women are journeying to a vacation spot only to make discoveries. Not everything is as it seems. Each woman brings their insecurities to the road. Who makes you the person you are, you or your other half? The movie does showcase various types of relationships. You are most likely able to relate to one or another. When you wonder what the connection to this or that character a curveball may come your way. At some level, it has similarities to Thelma and Louise without the crime spree and Brad Pitt. The movie deserves was more than 4.7 rating.

I hope you had a zero rating for this, Mexican filmmakers, writers, actors are much more than this, we can't stand to have this zero quality movies anymore, we deserve better. Even entertaining movies can have quality. I wish, I hope some of the filmmakers, actors in Mexico can see this review, it says nothing but it it says a lot with my qualification. Stop doing garbage! If you are funded by IMCINE you are waisting public money, if you made this only with Netflix fund, shame of you Netflix, who sold you that idea?! I can see televisa (yes in low caps, they don't deserve better) legacy on this, cheap content. WTF were you thinking? Let's put the hot topics we suffer today to be in? Shame, shame, shame.

It was super hilarious!! Loved the cast and the story was so exiting. With movies and tv shows, comedy is subjective. Something my friend finds funny I might not and vice versa. Personally, I cackled at certain parts and loved the female solidarity. The movie had a positive message about self love and personal growth and it wasn't just another comedy movie with no plot just to pass time. Spoilers: PFTTT my favorite part was when they zoomed in to the leftover feathers of Kentucky 🐔 and star saying she'll always carry him in her stomach hshsjsjs it was dark bc that chicken was so cute but I cackled. And the part of them tripping with the hippies was so wholesome. The fashion choices were so cool. And the action like vibe at the end with the police officer was so unexpected but exciting. Overall loved it.

I laughed so much from the beginning to the end, all the actors were awesome I tell you I laugh so much it's a must see. I don't want to spoil the movie but you have to watch it. It is hilarious.. awesome job everybody! I had to put it in pause so I can finish laughing and continue watching. A very good storytelling that it makes you think it can happen. It can be from a real story. The actresses they're so funny. And the chicken. Oh my gosh you have to watch it. It's hilarious. It hurt me to see what happened to the convertible car because that's a really nice looking car. The kids actors. They did a great job too. So kudos to everybody.
