i saw this twice in theaters, i loved this movie the first time i saw it, the story is genius, the blood is realistically disturbing, the loud sounds made it truly terrifying even when you were expecting something scary to happen, the acting was so believable it was creepy, (espacialy from Jennifer Carpenter) this is truly one of the best horror films i've ever seen, see and be terrified, cause its so much fun, the movie starts out nice and not scary, then when they get quarantined it gets scary, fun, and just flat out awesome, i give this film a 10/10 because there's nothing bad about except the fact that its so short, i recommend this film to anyone who likes getting scared cause its really scary.

This movie is based off the 2007 Spanish movie named "Rec". Quaratine is definitely a Hollywoodfied if you will version of the original. In "Rec" the camera work was not near as bad as Quaratine and the passion of the acting was MUCH better. Even with Jennifer Carpenter as the lead actress whom I believe is a great talent, especially for the horror/suspense genre, it is my opinion that this movie just wasn't written sufficiently to show her talent here. The end of the movie is where one can see the largest difference within the movie as well... overall Quaratine with its highly nauseating camera work and mediocre acting was a great disappointment. If the plot of this movie intrigues you I say stick with the original "Rec" as you will not be disappointed.

i've been wanting to see this for a few months now... and i was not disappointed at all,, this one was worth the wait, this movie i believe was done in the style of Blair Witch Project. i loved that steady hand cam very nice touch, what i guess i liked so much was the not knowing what was wrong with the people,, i mean you see a rat,, then they say maybe infected dog,, the building get's shutdown tight,, police , fire, then comes theCDC. they quarantine the entire building, nobody in or out,, the government is interested in saving the survivors,, they are waiting for , them to die, the whole apartment building is infected. what i also liked abuot this film is that is fresh faces,, all relatively unknown actors and actresses,, with stars you tend to get way over the top over-dramatic performances. this is a nice neat little perfect film that is one heck of a ride, and that i would recommend to anyone.

The only reason it wasn't a waste of more than half an hour is, I hit Eject. I rarely do this - it really says more than anything else how poor this is.
Basically, it's a stock zombie movie. I don't understand the appeal of zombie movies, given that once someone has woken up one morning and said "Hey, I know, lets do a zombie movie!" that's the last new idea they have. After that, it seems you can just crank the handle and turn out a standard-plot zombie movie and the studio will cut you a cheque and kiss your boots.
PS - if you like zombie movies, you'll probably like this one too.

Half way through, the movie turned into a competition of the dead biting the alive. No logical, continuous story line after that at all, if there's any from the beginning. Camera works' not so good. If you have motion sickness, please be sure to take pills before watching. The camera man might have been on drugs. Overall, the director's take made the movie not possible to grab the audience attention through half of its running time. I regretted that I have checked it out from the store and will refuse to watch any kind of sequel or similar movies to it. It's a horrible remake Rec. Anyway, stay away from it or simply "seal it."

Rec was Blair witch set in an apartment block with zombies. The horror in Rec was down to highly skilled movie crafting. The plot, script, direction and acting were great. It was a visceral horror movie.
All this movie had to do was copy that well. But it copied it badly. In Rec there were some stunning moments. This movie copied those moments, but the timing was wrong, the set-up was wrong. It was actually interesting how bad this copy was, it has given me an even higher appreciation of the original.
Also the actors in this movie were generic hollywood types. All very dull.
The lead actress seemed like she was trying to act scared. In fact, all the acting in this remake was unconvincing. How could they fail? They knew what to do before filming!
I did quite enjoy the banter at the start, which was the only engaging part of the entire movie.

Okay, I understand that everyone has their own personal preferences on movies, but this movie completely sucked. It was way too drawn out, not scary. I wish I had walked outta it. My friends and I all agreed at the end that it stunk. The only good part was when the last girl (the reporter) was finally dragged away. I never even knew this was a remake, but maybe they should've stuck with the original and left the USA outta it. Bottomline, I wish I never saw it, it's too drawn out, I mean come on, the beginning before the actual call seemed to take forever. It was like GET ON WITH IT ALREADY! The story line, what the heck was going on. How did the "rabies" get there and mutate like that? Are we supposed to use our imagination? I hate having to think about "scary" movies to figure out what the heck was going on.
