cheesy fun has a silly opening lots of blood splashes and TONS of goofy characters but this is also quite well made and decently directed but the script has quite a few problems in it and the story isn't all that great and has quite a few logic lapses the acting is okay Robert Englund is pretty good here and he just always seems to creep me out no matter what role he plays i LOVE him! Frayne Rosanoff is decent but spurts out some lame dialog at times but overall he comes through William Zabka is good here and is quite likable (one of the few)here unlike that other idiot police officer that worked with him in this flick but i will get to that later Casper Van Dien is okay here and didn't impress me that much Dana Baron does not have much to do here other than scream yell argue and look hot she does that very well Sean Whalen is not an actor! he is one of the worst actors i have ever seen in my life i wouldn't be surprised if he was an idiot in real life! cameo by Jenny McCarthy there is a laughable moment when Lisa threatens the snake with a shampoo bottle, and a rubber ducky overall a cheesy flick but pretty entertaining you could do worse recommended for a night of cheap thrills **1/2 out of 5

This is no doubt the worst film I have ever seen. You must be very, very, very, very, very stupid in order to like this film. I apologize if that sounds cruel, but it is the truth. PYTHON is an ANACONDA rip-off all the way! If the damn snake is supposed to be so big, they how in the hell could the residents of the town not see the thing slithering around? The acting sucks horridly, bad editing, and the special effects are worse than they were back in the 1920s. Let's just be thankful that no one has died yet from watching this sucky movie. I think Casper Van Dien is a great actor, but here, his cheesy, unplacable accent sounds terrible. I have never in my life seen such a stupid movie. The nudity is placed in the film for the sole purpose of having it in the film. And, another stupid thing is that fire cannot kill the snake but acid can. I think fire is worse than acid...? And, another question, what kind of film is this supposed to be? If it is an ANACONDA rip-off, then you would assume that it would be an action-adventure film. But, here on the IMDb, it is listed as a horror film. I am still a little fuzzy on that one. Now, I usually rate my movies out of a five star rating. But I am not sure what I should give PYTHON. I don't think a 0 would do it either. So, my final one-line rating: "Come with me to another film unless you want to die." PYTHON is so bad that it doesn't even get a rating.

An airplane carrying a huge snake crashes in a forest nearby Ruby town, where two lesbian lovers are camping. The python eats both women and leaves their remains destroyed by its acid. The animal moves to the town, threatening the population and leaving the local sheriff and his team astonished. Meanwhile, Dr. Anton Rudolph (Robert Englund), who was developing a weapon based on the acid of the python, discloses to agent Bart Parker (Casper Van Dien) how powerful the reptile is. "Python" is a terrible movie, indeed pure trash: the story is very silly, with many flaws and the dialogs are ridiculous. However, there are reasonable special effects and somehow the movie becomes funny and entertains. The name of Robert Englund is the greatest attraction of this flick. If the viewer liked "Anaconda", he or she will certainly enjoy "Python". My vote is four. Title (Brazil): "Python" Note: On 25 June 2023. I saw this film again.

Python starts in the sky over the Californian town of Ruby where during a violent thunderstorm a cargo plane crashes into the nearby woods... Roberta (Kathleen Lambert) & Lisa (LoriDawn Messuri) are having lesbian sex in their tent in the very same woods when they are attacked by something large & very unfriendly. Lisa's mutilated & burnt remains are found the next day, Sheriff Griffin Wade (Gary Grubbs) & his Deputies Greg Larson (William Zabka) & Lewis Ross (Sean Whalen) are on the case. Top on the list of suspects is John Cooper (Frayne Rosanoff) who works for Perfecto Plating, a company that uses strong chemicals acids. Meanwhile agent Parker (Casper Van Dien) quizzes the sinister Dr. Anton Rudolph (Robert Englund) about what was on the plane, Rudolph says that a huge 60 foot long Python was aboard & is worth millions but at the same time absolutely lethal. More residents of Ruby become victims of the giant Python it's up to John & his girlfriend Kristin (Dana Barron) to clear his name & stop the Python... Directed by Richard Clabaugh Python is one seriously terrible film. The script by Chris Neal, Garrison Hershberger & Paul Bogh is poor & I can't believe it took three people to write this. To it's credit it starts off OK with the Python kept in the background munching it's way through various cast members but once we pass the 30 odd minute mark it sinks faster than a lead balloon. The character's are awful & highly annoying once the film settles down & focuses on them especially Lewis the comedy relief Deputy, the special effects are terrible & the Python barely features & seems almost a secondary consideration at times, the plotting & story are stupid & dumb to the extreme like when the Python stops a garage door from opening with it's tail I mean do Python's have a good working knowledge of garage door mechanism's? Also at the end when John & Krstin find an underground bunker to shelter in but don't close the door behind themselves? There are just too many things wrong with Python to go into detail about, not the worst creature feature out there but no too far from it. On a positive note it moves along at a fair pace & the scene with Jenny McCarthy is actually very funny, hopefully this was intentional. Director Clabaugh on the DVD commentary track doesn't have particularly good things to say about Python due to the lack of time & money like the fact that the giant Python obviously couldn't fit in that small garage but they simply couldn't find or afford to build a bigger one! As a whole it's a pretty bad film from start to finish although the first half an hour isn't too bad compared to the rest of it. The only gore is when someone is decapitated & there are some partially digested skeletal remains. There are a couple of instances of nudity but nothing to get too excited about. The budget must have been low as the effects are poor, the Python is used sparingly & the whole thing looks & feels cheap. You can tell Python was made-for-TV & not very well made at that. The acting isn't up to much while Van Dien is terrible & looks ridiculous with that moustache! Python has no real entertainment value & isn't worth wasting your time with. Definitely one to avoid.

This movie ROCKS! What more could you ask for? Robert Englund dressed as Panama Jack for some reason. Random sex scene in a tent. A crazy mutant killer snake chasing a truck. The proverbial shower scene - the towel NEVER falls off! Jenny Mcarthy as a skanky (oddly old looking) real estate agent. It's priceless! It ranks right up there with "The Snake King" and "Dagon" (which by the way is about mutant killer fish people). If you LOVE cheese this is the movie for you! And if you haven't had enough check out "The Snake King" with Stephen Baldwin in all of his acting glory! Python Rules! This has to be ten lines long so I'll finish this by giving praise to another excessively cheesy movie: "Cherry Falls" Oh, yeah: Jay Mohr as a psycho cross dressing serial killer and Brittany Murphy asking her boyfriend to bite her toes!

Spoiler!! First off, I made the mistake of getting this film because Robert Englund was one of the headliners in it, that and the DVD was only $3.95 (worst $3.95 I ever spent in my life by the way). To be honest though, if you want to see Robert Englund act in something where he is not Freddy Krueger, I would recommend watching that episode of Jamie Foxx where he is an art thief, as that is much better than this pile of crap. Ok, for starters the snake itself looks extremely fake. The CGI job that was done on this was very subpar at best. There is little to no gore in this "horror" film either, except for skeletons with burned away flesh, a special effect they could have done for about $29.95. Additionally, there isnt much nudity either, except one pair of naked breasts in the beginning, big whoop. Secondly, the plot absolutely sucks. There is so much backstory that means absolutely nothing to the movie itself. I thought this film was about a huge snake that was biomedically engineered to be a killing machine. Instead, for about half of the film they focus on 2 guys and 2 girls and their relationships, as well as the cop that had his girl stolen from by the other guy. They develop that way too much for this film, as this isnt a romantic story, but a horror film people! Thirdly, there is no consistency to the film at all. In the beginning, the snake shoots acidic venom at people to melt their skin away and kill them, but by the end of the film the snake seems to forget how to do that, which makes it much easier for the heros to kill it, and I thought this snake was supposed to be engineered to be smart too? Give me a break. Oh that and a dozen military special OPs can't kill it, but 4 or 5 wusses can kill it without any military training whatsoever. It amazes me that they can use bombs with such ease without the training for it. Fourthly and most importantly, the acting is horrible. I think they must have been going for a comedy for this film, because each person's acting makes you laugh its so cheesy. The relationships arent believable, their fear isnt believable, and certainly that fight sequence that two of the main characters do looked very fake and non-dangerous. I have been in worse scraps in middle school than the fight they show in this movie. The only bright spot I have to say for the film though is the one sheriff's deputy that was extremely funny. He must have been a tribute to Andy Griffith Show's Barney Fife, because he actually looked like him and acted like him. But alas, the snake kills him. Once he was killed I knew all the entertainment value for this film was lost (as if it had much to start with). I did get a laugh out of the lesbian sequence in the beginning of the film, and some of the jokes about the bisexual girl Lisa (who was in the beginning sequence), but that was about it for entertainment. If you have never cheered for the villain or monster in horror films before, you will now. Trust me, if you ever watch this film you will cheer for the snake to kill them all and mercifully end this thing early, and not in 100 mins either!

I don't know about you guys, but this is the worst snake movie I have ever seen. It has a lot of bad acting and even a worse script! We rented the movie and watched it at home and I wish we didn't. It was a complete waste of time!

I wonder on which planet the makers were staying around the time "Anaconda" flopped... That movie clearly proved like no other that it's a bad idea to make a horror film about a giant terrorizing snake, but at least it had a fairly interesting cast and a neat jungle-setting. "Python"...has absolutely nothing going for it. The premise once again handles about a twisted doctor who saw a potentially great military weapon in the hunting & defense mechanisms of this snake-species, so he created an exaggeratedly large and ferocious mutant specimen. The 'animal' naturally escapes during transport and our doctor allows it to devour an entire remote community, rather than to destroy his unique discovery. "Python" is a rapidly paced and weakly scripted attempt to cash in on the popular revival of the creature-features, but even the least demanding horror fans will consider it a waste of time. The giant snake looks incredibly ridiculous and the make-up effects couldn't be cheesier. The typical hillbillies-gags aren't funny and the forced happy-ending really looks pathetic. The cast is stuffed with have-been B-actors, like Casper Van Dien (here's a guy who should really consider a career change), Robert Englund, Sean Whalen and Will Wheaton. There also is a cameo for Jenny McCarthy as a sex-hungry rich girl...Now that must have been a difficult casting choice. Avoid watching"Python" at all costs, unless you're planning to get really drunk first.
