The movie Postal is probably as important as Bowling for Columbine or even An Inconvenient Truth. Based on a little-known video game of the same name, it aims a little bit higher than director's Uwe Boll previous video game adaptations. Forget what the media has already said about the movie (without even seeing it) and go see this movie very open-minded. You'll need to be, because this movie goes places no one as ever dared to go. And that's for the best. Part of an ever-growing list of crass comedies (American Pie, Van Wilder, etc.), the humor used in this satire is rooted deep in bad taste and on a few occasions reaches the point of uncomfortable (children getting shot). It is alarmingly violent, contains the foulest language possible, parodies almost every religion and even ridicules the concept of racism by treating all humanity as racists. It is by far the utmost politically incorrect movie I ever saw. And there resides all its charm. Going to such extremes is indisputably going to deserve an NC-17 rating, therefore exposing the MPAA rating system as one of so many corrupt "government-approved" organizations. By unapologetically bashing every race, religion, political affiliation, social and financial classes, the movie and its writer-director, Uwe Boll in surprising form, confronts the viewer to re-evaluate all of our preconceived ideas and values. One of its direst victims is the media itself, condemning it for most of our society's problems. Using the same clichés and excessive violence it is denouncing, it's quite unsettling that we need those in order to let the film (and its fiery message) grab our attention. Definitely food for thought. Although it is far for pitch-perfect (except for the spectacular performance by star Zack Ward who is) and probably ten minutes too long, Postal is laugh out loud funny, the biggest riot since the afore-mentioned Team America. The latter was much more subtle but not much has changed in our society since. It will undoubtedly take a few more of these in-your-face, question-everything, status-quo-shattering movies to leave a mark on people as a whole, but it's one less to go. That's what I call a success, no matter how small it is.

Now we all know Uwe Boll's track record when it comes to movies, but even more so when it's applied to video games. However, in the case of Postal I have to say I was rather surprised because the movie possessed this subtle flair of the game. While watching it I felt it was trying its hardest to be as true to the game as it could. It has sick and pointlessly funny humor both political and sexual, and it has a ridiculous plot that feels like something right out of the game. Perhaps the one thing Boll does well in Postal is the bumbling collection of Muslim terrorists who are apathetic about the whole "Jihad" thing and they are quite funny to watch as they goof around. I guess what makes Postal the movie special is the collection of little silly Easter egg-esquire instances that will just make you chuckle. Like the Postal game, the movie deserves its due because it is a novelty among movies. Regardless, it's Boll's "best" work.

I watched this movie at a Sneak Preview screening and I'm glad I didn't pay for it. This movie is just disgusting. Its full of dick and fart jokes and takes no pride in the action sequences(such as the shootout in "Little Germany"). I made a little list of things I enjoyed in the movie.. and a lot of which I didn't agree of. 1. Dave Foley's *. 2. The fart jokes. 3. The Poop jokes. 4. The Dude was a *. 5. No Gary Coleman. 6. The Talibans 7. Again making fun of Bush.. WE GET IT HE'S AN IDIOT.. move on. 8. The Dude has blonde hair. 9. The Plot. 10. The killing of minors 11. Uwe Boll was in it. 12. Most of the cast were just outrages and out there. Now the (few) good ones 1. The Dude uses a cat as a silencer like in the game. 2. Lots of action. 3. Crotchy made a return (and a cameo of the maker of Postal) 4. Uhm.. I didn't have to pay for it. 5. There are a few "what the ef" moments Boll did it again. He made another crappy game into movie adaption. Kudos to you, Mr Boll. 2/10

>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>> >>>>>>> With their no holds bar cruel offensive humor, sure enough to offended anyone, you would sure think this would be a laugh riot! ............wrong. Worest movie since Open water. Don't be to surprised if you completely miss this movie upon release date as I'm sure it wont do very good at all at the box office. This movie had a lot of Potential but fell to little to short. No enough character development, awkward actors and The upside of this movie was nudity. Boobs. Amazing. If I had to see this movie again, I myself would go POSTAl. <<<<<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<

If you like humor beyond any rules and respect you'll like this film. This is one of the most entertaining films I ever saw. No one remains untouched when Uwe Bolls spoofs G.W.B., Osama, hippies, corporate slaves, Germans, handicapped persons, beautiful girls and many more. I really love that this film doesn't care about anything but entertaining me! This film was proclaimed to be anti-American, but that's just a part of the truth, because the story is anti-everything. Whether you're an esoteric freak or just a normal office slave, you'll be offended. Don't take it to serious, Uwe Boll is also offending himself, and gets what he deserves in the eyes of the ones who hate him.

I saw this at frightfest 2007 on the Sunday WITH UWE BOLLin attendance. Yes it's offensive, YES it's could be seen as a big two finger salute to everyone, and YES it IS FUNNY! Anyone who takes this TOO SERIOUSLY really needs to just step back and take a breath. Yeah the whole '9/11' element is alittle bad taste. (hell MY PARENTS were out there the day it happened and we never heard from them for three days!!) But you gotta just not let it cloud your judgement. This is up there with the send up greats like AIRPLANE 1 + 2, HOT SHOTS 1 + 2, NAKED GUN etc... Yeah it crosses the line once or twice, but just leave your morals at the door for an hour and a half and just let go and have fun!!! SEED on the other hand.....

I gave this movie a ten because of all the negatives review, people don't want to admit it, but it's true, Uwe Boll has made a good movie, and it's really funny. There was Q&A with Boll after the screening and I gained a lot of respect for him after hearing how much work he puts into his films and how humble he is about all the harsh-bashing he gets. Made quite a good impression. Also he touched on some good ideas about challenging taboos and pushing the boundraies of bad taste. In someways this movie reminds me of early John Waters. Give the movie a try before you put it to death, you might not think it's halirious, or you might be offended, but you'll defintly see that this isn't the same old Uwe Boll. Postal made me laugh, why ask for more. Go and see it.

After I saw Postal, I got a chance to see Uwe Boll himself in a Q&A session. He's actually pretty amusing in real life and I think he channeled that when writing Postal. This was the first movie of his I've ever seen and... I actually had a lot of fun. Take a few friends with you when you go, and you'll probably leave in a good mood too. It's not without some flaws, it does stutter here and there and Mr Boll takes a few great jokes and doesn't quite build up and then punchline them properly, but there's enough hits here to make up for it. The cast is excellent (Dave Foley and Zach Ward steal the show but there are some great cameos). The VERY last shot of the movie is strangely beautiful. You'll have to see it to see what I mean. In the end there's something very good-natured about how this movie with decapitations and explosions and suicide bombers and gunfights tries to make you laugh. It was happy to roll around in its own silliness and for that, I loved it.

I saw the premiere of this movie yesterday at the Fantasia Film festival in Montreal and I laughed my ass off! I really had a good time with this movie that makes fun of everything that scares other directors. Finally!!!! If you like George Carlin humor, you'll like this movie. A lesson in freedom of speech and free thinking for all those numbed directors in Hollywood with their drowsy movies with the predictable ending. Though it had some flaws in the script and some drags, on the whole it's a good movie. Go and see this movie, don't expect it to be a Master piece, think second degree humor and have fun! An open mind is not a fractured skull!

Disclaimer: Let me start by saying that I was neither drunk nor high when I watched this movie. I watched it stone cold sober, alone, in my living room. Amazingly I just gave an Uwe Boll film 8 stars, I know, I can't believe it myself. If I were twelve years old and still read MAD Magazine I'd probably have given it ten stars. There are plenty of "zany" pop culture riffing movies out there, (Meet the Spartans, Super Hero Movie, Date Movie, etc.) but the difference here is Postal works. I laughed throughout the entire movie, with the exception of about seven jokes which didn't make sense or just didn't work. But it doesn't matter that these seven jokes failed because the movie is an endless stream of jokes, sight gags, bikini clad cult members, machine gun battles, and bad taste in the vein of John Waters/Troma Films earliest efforts. It's too bad Uwe Boll got himself involved in a petty internet pi**ing contest over this film. I think had he just been modest, kept his mouth shut, and let the film speak for itself it may have been a minor success. The old Hollywood saying about there being "no such thing as bad publicity" doesn't work for you when all you get is BAD PUBLICITY. That said, the only real problems with the film are the low budget production values and a few of the minor performances, but even those problems just add to the humor of this film. The plot actually made sense. The actors played it straight without being too zany too often. And the jokes, although in bad taste and definitely not for everybody, were never so mean spirited that I was turned off by them. I think Uwe Boll knew what he was doing with this picture. The satire and parodies worked well, and there were even a few jokes that made me want to cheer. I know, crazy huh?
