Sure, the movie is terrible, but I'm even more confounded by the description:
"Forced to pay off his debt to the murderous Caribbean crime lord, Tariq, instead, the American scuba-diver and treasure hunter, Jackson Slate, wakes up from its deep hibernation a massive, T-Rex-like sauroid off the coast of Belize."
I dare anyone to diagram that sentence.

I have never seen this movie but don't let that be a reason to invalidate this review.
As a valid movie watcher i can already tel the potential this movie holds, a cinematic masterpiece just waiting to be watched by the right multi-millionaire to make a second equally vivid movie.
As i can already tell the cgi is beyond believable and the acting could not be better executed. All in all this gift from god is more than worthy of an Oscar.
Thank you for your time

Poseidon Rex is a horror film directed by Mark L. Lester.
While searching for lost treasure, deep sea divers unleash a monster that causes havoc and destruction not only in sea but also on land.
Before writing about the film i would like to warn the viewers to avoid this film as this film seems to be a very cheap copy of Jurassic Park and Piranha.
The plot of the film is bad and execution is equally disappointing. The acting is just poor and VFX are utterly disappointing.
Please avoid the film.

Maybe not use flash light flickers for gun shooting then get some cgi help. Also The Godzilla movies from 1950s is better than this trash.

Corin Nemec was originally the lead actor in this movie, but the former Parker Lewis Can't Lose star was critically injured when a Belizean Coast Guard boat ran into a semi-submerged barge while transporting the crew to set. His leg was decimated and it took multiple blood transfusions to save his life.
Instead, we get Brian Krause, who was once Charles Brady in Sleepwalkers.
He plays Jackson Slate, who has been forced by a local crime lord to dive deep for treasure buried beneath the seas of Belize. He ends up freeing a giant dinosaur who is soon snacking on divers and henchmen with equal aplomb.
There's a great puppet scene with a hatched baby dinosaur, as well as the big bad final boss getting blasted with a bazooka. It's schlocky science fiction with bikinis and jetskis, but honestly, as horrible as the real world is today, this is a pretty decent escape that only lasts 79 minutes.

Poseidon Rex is one of those movies where you can tell that you shouldn't be expecting much from it. Even when that was taken into account, from a personal perspective it was still a load of rubbish that only has some nice scenery and underwater shots going for it. The creature, who is basically a half-dinosaur and half sea-monster, is another entry in the long line of terrible-looking SyFy creatures. There is a complete lack of fluidity in movement, texture or anything convincing in the design, and the it isn't menacing either with its "towering" presence most likely made possible by stilts. The scenes in which it appears in suffer from being hurriedly edited(in fact the whole movie looks rushed and murky-looking) and from having too much unintentional humour rather than genuine tension. The dialogue is at best trite and stilted, with the "snappy" banter marred by excessive cheesiness and wooden line delivery(the worst of them are absolute howlers). The story is very unexciting- with a fair amount of filler than could have been trimmed down or cut- and predictable stuff, anybody can smell the ending a mile off and any action comes across as heavy-handed and with overuse of fire-power. The characters are poorly developed and cardboard, they are just there and you don't know why, and some of them do some stupid things that make them even less easy to root for. The acting is very poor, with Brian Krause's lead performance lacking any kind of charisma(reading of a very last-minute replacement, Corin Nemec would have been a much better choice if it weren't for his terrible accident) while on the other side of the spectrum the obligatory stereotypical villain is played in a "hamming-it-up" style that's pretty embarrassing at times to watch. In conclusion, not the worst there is but it did come across personally as a rubbish movie- regardless of how low my expectations were- that should should be left uncovered. 2/10 Bethany Cox

**No spoilers ahead**
Let's be honest, nobody in their right mind would actually look at a title such as POSEIDON REX and expect a well developed movie with a good plot. Instead, what it so gracefully presents is a watchable laughfest.
I'm not gonna talk about character development or worldbuilding because there is none. Everyone is completely superficial with a single trait defining them, maybe 2 if you are generous with what you consider a trait.
What I am going to talk about is the massive swimming dinosaur, which makes my inner child extremely happy. The idea of having the most famous dinosaur swim is every 10 year old child's dream, probably because the plot came from the mind of such a child. There are two main problems with the large reptile. First, while the model is very cool, it's terribly inserted into every scene, almost looking like it was cut and pasted with no light adjustment or anything. The second problem is... it honestly doesn't have enough screen time. It appears to kill people, but we don't see how it lives and how it interacts with the world, the latter being agregious since there's only one scene of it actually destroying a wall (the boats are never really destroyed on screen, you have to know they are).
Overall, only watch when you need to relax and watch something you'll talk to your friends about how bad it is. The 5 stars are just because it made me laugh like I haven't in a long time.

OK its not like I expected a lot. I mean its a giant monster movie so my expectations were low. But as others have said outside of the tropical location for most of the movie it didn't have a lot of pluses.
Let's see here: 1. Although the movie characters constantly shoot at the monster with automatic weapons the CGI monster never shows a speck of blood or sign of a single wound until the end. They even hit the monster with a harpoon then have to untie the rope from the boat to keep the monster from pulling them under. Yet later the harpoon and rope are gone. Once again no blood or wound.
2. They blaze away forever with said automatic weapons and the clips NEVER run out of ammo. Which is a good thing because they almost never even HAVE any extra ammo except on the coast guard boat.
3. When they dive they find a wooden boat that is supposed to date back to the days when the Spanish looted the Mayans. Said boat had absolutely no coral growing on it. Now even if the explosion uncovered the boat it wouldn't have blown ALL the coral off it.
4. The monster seems to be of variable size. I guess that could be a matter of point of view but the fact that it swims so well in the ocean but has no flippers and yet walks/runs of land just like its a land creature vice a water creature is unusual. It ALSO seems to walk on the bottom of the ocean and leave footprints.
5. While the bends are mentioned while they are getting ready to dive later in the movie, at the beginning of the movie they set off explosives that would have certainly killed all the divers from the shock wave or if not the bends would have killed them. One of the first group of divers is found floating on the surface alive. I guess he came up in stages to prevent the bends while unconscious.
6. So they go to an abandoned military base. In theory its been abandoned for decades. Never mind in the tropics it would be so overgrown it would be unfindable, they not only find it they are able to get an old junk heap of a generator to work so they have electric power to use an ancient radio so they can call for help.
7. And this abandoned military base had a stocked armory and a working airplane and MOST of this stuff didn't even really look dusty or dirty.
8. The monster is able to lift the front of its body out of the water far enough to smash down and sink at LEAST 5 boats. You see floating items after-wards but the boats themselves all sink like rocks ie the boats don't shatter and leave parts of the boat on the surface just coolers and such.
So in summary while these type movies require you to suspend belief this one had so many plot holes it was almost unwatchable. Then there was the horrible acting. :o)
