Big ideas are attempted in this somewhat odd and occasionally original take on the viral zombie outbreak. Whilst i would say the first half is close and tense the second half descends into comically absurd action. There is good acting but I was really annoyed by the character of the Dr. and the 'kill is kiss' line.

This movie was a fantastic netflix find! Rather than make the error many low budget horror movies do and attempt to make a cheaper version of a big budget horror movie these filmmakers did the right thing, they made the absolute best movie they could given the budget they had. The story itself is very interesting and should keep you interested enough to keep you engaged. The acting was fantastic and the directing was nearly flawless. A special note has to be made of the cinematography this movie is visually engaging and interesting throughout and the camera work is fantastic. In my opinion this may be one of the best movies ever shot on a Red. The cast, crew and filmmakers all deserve a lot of credit for doing an amazing job with the type of material that often is nothing more than a major let down. I would rank this as one of the best horror movies I have seen in recent years.

I am disappointed and incapacitated by this so bad movie. It is unclear, not explained, not finished, and has so insane and desperate story. It made me feel very bad and tired. Like bunch of amateurs or mental hospital patients are talking some nonsense in this movie. Not even one word is comprehensive or make any sense. Not about pandemic but about some weird dimension, spirituality, philosophy that I doubt even highest spiritual authorities would ever understand. Good try, but it ended up very bad. End is worse than beginning, which at least looked somewhat normal. Also there is violence and religious discrimination in this movie.

Okay, so a Radio DJ and staff are holed up in a radio station while their outside world is tearing itself apart. We hear a lot of what is going on but cannot see most of it, and that is what makes this film brilliant. You have to watch it until the end. This is not a typical way of telling a story, and it is a nice change! I like the fact that I could listen to this just as easily as watch it and still get the same effect.
Acting, sound, camera work are all top notch.
If you want to be freaked out by your imagination, this film is for you. If you want lots of blood and guts, then watch something else.

How many times have you heard about a virus which infects people through a language or speech and that also English? This Canadian flick takes zombie genre to an altogether new altitude. No second thoughts about it. But the movie has its share of flaws and it has loads.... After watching the first 30 Min's you'd wonder if you are watching the right movie or no. The opening 30 Min's of the film sucks big time. With all the talkative radio jockey crap taking the story nowhere. But kudos to the screenplay writer for writing such a water tight script and ably supported by some brilliant acting by Stephen McHattie & Lisa Houle. All in all a decent indie horror for a one time watch. Refreshing and original but a bit overrated.

Pontypool is cockney rhythming slang for "What a fool" which is what you would have to be to watch this movie.
It cost 1.5 million dollars to make and one can only assume they spent that on the snow machine because there sure wasn't anything else they could have spent it on. Boring sets, wooden acting, pointless plot, "know-all" doctor (who turns out to be a nincompoop), all I wanted to do was see the zombies finish them all off. I'm not sure if that ever happened because I bombed out of the film at an hour and five minutes, which was a huge test of my patience by the way and didn't cost me any finger nails, I can assure you!
If you really haven't got anything better to do than to watch this then all I can say is that you must be - single!
Good night!
