I watched this movie today and was dozing off every now and then. This was a complete failure of a movie, they have just included new characters every few minutes with fancy names. The plot is haywire, you will get confused and wonder what exactly is going on. Aishwarya looks beautiful and same can be said about Trisha as well. The male actors have also acted quite well but the main issue with this movie is the screenplay. Did not expect this from mani ratnam. I mean he has also included the quick climax which he has been using in his comedy films in PS 1 as well. Avoid this by any means, maybe watch vikram vedha atleast the story is tried and tested and wont be boring.

Except Aishwarya Rai.. no other performances were good. Movie was quit boring. Visuals was also not so good. Story was simple. We don't get know anything about that period. Thumbs down.. 500 cr waste. They were not able tell enough information about Cholas. If you think our history will be glorified and you get to learn new things then don't watch this movie. How a period drama should not be made can be learnt from this movie. There was so much expectation but all went in vein. I didn't expected this from a South industry but then i came to know it is mani ratnam movie. What can you expect from then.

Very bad screenplay. So much confusions. Took hours to understand who is who. Failed to introduce characters which is the 1st step of movie. Just content is part of history so saying average movie. Or else it would hv counted worst. Actor vikram's character ate the title character ponniyin selvan. The Screenplay should have more focused on the character ponniyin selvan. Dialogues were more confusing failed to show the intentions of every characters. It was like understand by your own. Screenplay and editing made so many mistakes that audiences have to watch the movie again and if they do they will say that they misunderstood things earlier.
