Global warming has not made it easy on the human race. This futuristic world has left very little of the planet not flooded by melting glaciers. The Earth's future looks mighty grim and there is just small bands of humans left to survive massive, ravenous mutated alpha sharks that patrol the oceans as an organized mass of chomping menace. Survivors are desperate and dependent on reversing global weather patterns. And believe it, sharks are the hungriest species. Low budget, cheesy sci-fi for a lazy hour and a half. Mark Atkins co-writes and directs a cast featuring: Stephanie Beran, Brandon Auret, Christia Visser, Daniel Barnett, Lauren Joseph, Lindsay Sullivan and John B. Swart.

Endearing and fun movie. The acting was ok, there was 5 females characters with depth and almost no romance at all. There is a lot of love and care in that movie. I loved it.

Not to be taken lightly the basic message of this movie. Forget the so called bad acting, the fact is we as humans are not as powerful as we are led to believe. Consequences are coming and they are coming fast. In whatever form it may take.

This is an Asylum/SyFy rated TV-14 movie. Most of you can stop reading at that point. The world is covered by water and due to a lack of food in the ocean, sharks are jumping 10 feet into the air to eat people. They are also traveling together controlled by an alpha female. Now here is where the plot gets tricky. In order to save the planet they need to launch a CO2 scrubber into the atmosphere and need an underwater volcano eruption to do it. (I think I was making a sandwich when they explained why.) They have a tight launch window because hitting the atmosphere may be otherwise impossible. Nothing like combining the second worst Kevin Costner film on the planet with Asylum sharks. We get to see the statue of liberty underwater during the opening credits and not the last scene like that ape picture. Asylum never lets science and facts get in the way of a bad film. Indeed, just about everything they did, you couldn't do and if all the icecaps melted, you would still have plenty of dry land and at that point, it you removed the CO2 from the atmosphere, the water wouldn't recede. We did get many close-ups of Stephanie Beran's foot (or perhaps that was a naked foot double) and I am still trying to figure out the fake accent of Angie Teodora Dick. Was she celebrating Talk Like a Pirate Day? It's bad. If you love a film you can laugh at and not with, be my guest.

My fiance found this one Hulu I believe and thankfully we could watch it for free because I would have wasted money on this cause it is bad enough I wasted time. Though that is not fair, as it was very entertaining to make fun of this film, but riffing this film is like shooting fish in a barrel, just not much of a challenge. The sharks look horrid, like a screen saver coming across the screen and they don't even attempt to make them look real when they are jumping, you have people with accents that are barely audible and what made this one particularly bad was all the talking! I am like, don't cheapen yourself further by acting like this is some high end pretentious movie then throw super jumping sharks into the mix! The story, the world is completely covered in water due to the ice caps melting and the fact that the people who made this film actually think that could cover the entire earth. Well we have this city called junk city population 72 getting attacked by the sharks right from the start with only one survivor...a girl who one would think is important, but really kind of pointless. Well another city with a population of over 400, though it looks like the same city and looks like it has less people and a scientific center join forces to combat the sharks! Not really, the strange leader of the one city speaks in what I finally figured must be a horrid Cajun accent tries to fight the sharks, and then there is just a whole lot of plans being formed that make no sense as white Ice T, hipster Bill Nye, pointless girl, fat comedy relief guy, surf board girl, Nye's girlfriend and Glen Close come together to talk a lot and once in a while fight stupid jumping sharks. The actors and actresses in this film are just embarrassing. Honestly, had I gotten this script I would have said "hell no". They play it off so seriously and that somehow makes this all worse! When you see the sharks attack at the beginning this is not a film you are going to take seriously, but that is how it is played off. Not only seriously, but deadly seriously! Cajun lady had me laughing as her plan to fight the sharks was to stab them and have her guy friend then kick them...it worked better than that volcano plan! So no, this film is bad to the highest degree. SyFy, used to be the SciFi channel and it was a great station. They would play animes, Godzilla films, horror films and they even had MST3K for awhile. Then they went to rather high end television shows and the occasional good home brewed movies. Now they seem to make their living doing mainly horrible shark movies, they should stop being the SyFy channel and just turn into the SharkFy station!

Given that this is a TV movie you might expect it not to be the best written or acted movie, or have the best effects. And you would be right. In fact your expectations might be exceeded. This movie has atrocious effects, bad acting and a convoluted story. It might have been written by someone who watched Waterworld, Jaws and Deep Blue Sea and had the idea to combine some of the elements of the these films as badly as possible. It also has a roaring/growling shark. The movie takes place in a world where 98% of the surface of the earth is water covered and sharks are being led by an alpha shark that controls them through electrical impulses. At the same time there are human survivors with South African Accents living on floating platforms trying to fight the sharks using an electro magnetic pulse weapon whilst simultaneously attempting to launch some sort of rocket into the atmosphere in order to prevent the planet from heating up any more than it already has. Apparently if they do this the water levels will recede. Why you may ask? Only the movie scientist and the super shark might know the answer to that. OK I might be exaggerating, the super shark has no clue to what is going on and in this respect it is similar to the viewer of this movie. In the end some characters get eaten by the sharks and he super shark is blown up on a boat after it launches itself on the boat in a move very similar to the one executed by the shark in Jaws. Will they never learn.... In conclusion, this movie is downright terrible and should not be seen unless you want to remind yourself why you should watch something better.

Planet of the Sharks is a science fiction horror film that aired on the Syfy channel in 2016. It tells the story of an earth submerged in water, the earth's land disappears and sinks because sea water rises, nearly 98% percent of the planet is submerged in water, and causes shark sharks to thrive . This film is not too bad, it's still worth watching, although there are still many flaws like the very fake set, the CGI effect is bad

Boring... I wasn't sure what to expect when I started watching this film. Good thing my expectations were low. This film isn't really bad...I've seen much worse...but if you're looking for scares, or to be seriously freaked out like with JAWS, you'll be let down. The mayor or whatever she was of the town called, Salvation, was ridiculous looking and looked like a cross between a role playing gaming character and Tina Turner in Beyond Thunderdome. Just not good...at least not as anything scary...it's just too ridiculous and the sharks way too fake. Even for CGI.
