I read some of the reviews for this movie before watching and saw that the ratings were low and nobody had anything good to say about the movie but thought to myself surely it can't be that bad, but it really was and I have watched some bad horror movies but this took the cake, it wasn't even bad in a good way like some horrors are it was just bland and boring and a waste of time. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone.

It's on netflix unfortunately and when something is on netflix i rarely read reviews before, I'm too comfortable. But jeez I wish I did because there is nothing good to say about the movie. Funnily enough I jumped from other two lame horror movies before settling with watching this one because the concept seemed interesting. But don't be fooled. It's executed so poorly that it's simply not worth it. Lots of mistakes too, like the lighter that one time is "out" but later works, the tea candle that somehow lasts way longer than the thick candles did, the fact that it took like 2 min for the demon thingy to come take the person out of the pentagram but they could not just quickly run out to get the candles and then hurry back in the circle, the demon wasn't apparently interested in taking the pink highlights girl, etc. And the dialogue.... I had to fast forward through the last dialogue between siblings because it was boring and you didn't care about the characters the whole movie anyway. From the beginning I found the group to be extremely annoying and disliked them all. Solid 1. Abrupt and predictable ending. Long pointless intro. You feel like nothing really happened in the movie, barely any tension, decision making, twists, suspenseful moments or existential crisis moments. Nothing. Nothing deep nothing exciting nothing funny nothing interesting nothing that would make you feel something. Looked like some film school end of semester project made by someone who just wanted to get it over with and go home for Christmas. Netflix, discard this movie, it's trash.

The most entertaining thing about this movie is watching 30-something British people pretending to be American teenagers. Otherwise it's just 4 unengaging idiots messing aimlessly about. What if the sactifice scene from "the convent" was played straight and stretched out into an entire movie? The demon effects are lame, the plotholes are enormous, and none of these smartphone owning "teenagers" ever think of googling anything. A giant waste of time and dignity.

Well it's currently on netflix and i've watched everything else so I went for this, it was recommended to me. To begin with you could tell it was low budget movie but I have watched plenty of horrors with no budget so I do not hold that against it. The script is awful, the actual plot required better writing to be good, but there was nothing, apart from some plot holes but who cares when it's so bad. There's nothing scary about this, no atmosphere, no tension, no creepiness, nothing. I guess you could call it a horror due to having a pentagram on the floor, and reusing the exact same animation of a demon twice, but that's an insult to the horror genre. Honestly, I love horror movies and even some bad ones, but this is so below being bad, it has no redeeming features, not one.

When the CGI came up I actually laughed then realised this isn't a spoof. Must be desperate to want to "act" in this film.

This film fails on the directing, cinematography, editing, script, story, lighting, fx and acting. It's the most inane film I've ever unfortunately watched. This film is obviously a first for all depts mentioned above. Some films are not worthy of the name.. this film should be deleted from all archives, so that another film can be made and hopefully live up to the name "Pentagram". Lol.

Granted, the title of the movie and the fact that it is a horror movie was more than sufficient to make me sit down and watch the 2019 movie "Pentagram" from writer and director Steve Lawson. When it was blatantly proclaimed that the movie was based on real events, that is where I first started to doubt this movie. And I managed to endure 31 minutes of "Pentagram" before I called it quits. Why? Solely because the storyline bored me senseless. It was an abysmal and downright stupid storyline, and it didn't help much with having to suffer through a movie of four people trapped within the confines of a pentagram, unless they wanted to be mauled by a shroud of bad CGI. This movie was just doomed from the very beginning. The storyline was so weak and pointless that it utterly failed to captivate me. And it didn't really help much that the movie was bearing a sense of overwhelming low-budget sensation. As for the acting, well, let's just say that people were struggling with the script, plot and storyline, and they were given so very little to work with. I am rating "Pentagram" a mere two out of ten stars, and I can honestly say that this is not a movie that I will be returning to finish watching. It was just downright ridiculous and boring. If you enjoy horror movies, there is an abundance of far more interesting choices readily available out there.

For those saying this at least has an original idea, it doesn't. It's a very poor imitation of The Devil Rides Out. Most of the acting is decent enough, especially the addict. I don't even mind the fixed location. A well-written version of this could make a great play. Unfortunately the tension within the group is only loosely touched upon. The tension is non-existent. Trying to get something out of reach? Clothing is the obvious (and not 'genius') option. One full candle short? Cut one or two existing candles in half and light the wick. The demon is meh, but made worse by just repeating the same footage whenever it appears. As for the ending? The mark was removed from her arm after her brother read the ritual. Why not display some of these magical powers this demon apparently promised? It would have been something at least.

Four young adults are headed to California to get Holly (Chloe Farnworth) treatment for Heroin. They pay their way there by robbing restaurants on the side roads, the ones that Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta don't patron. On the getaway, the waitress shoots a hole in the radiator (from behind?) as our foursome get stuck on the road near an old house. Once inside the house, circumstances get them cursed and stuck inside a pentagram with white candles and not the traditional black candles. (Chalk and candles were the consumable props in this low budget film.) In order to get out of the circle, they will need to recite a ritual followed by a simple blood sacrifice to Asmodeus, a 1950's special effect demon. Alexis Rodney provided us the obligatory secondary antagonist as they figure out whom to kill. This is a simple basic story which mostly takes place in one room without flashbacks to break things up. Guide: F-word. No sex. No nudity.
