You don't get films like this from Hollywood. Its like a slow burn, but not so slow burn, edge of your seat kind of intelligent and quietly unapologetic unassailable unassuming drama. Fabulous script. Eyes peeled to the screen.
Do not watch if you are seeking high octane explosive stimulation. I am going straight to the other two in the Worricker Trilogy (Turks and Caicos & Salting the Battlefield)

I enjoyed this film despite the (to my ear) at times poorly written dialogue. It was just the right level of intrigue and drama, well acted and good to watch. Perfect mid-week viewing.

I really don't understand the hype around this movie. It's an all star cast, with rave critic reviews, but it's just terrible. The script is embarrassing, to the point where I thought the whole thing was just a big joke; it's pretentious to the extreme, and makes an effort to come across as intelligent and sophisticated, but it just comes across as desperate and pretentious. The storyline, character development are kept deliberately vague, in an effort to make a cloak and dagger, bureaucratic spy thriller but it just comes out as incomprehensible, desperate, unintentionally Kafkaesque slop.
Also, why is a long term, supposedly intelligent and wise intelligence officer sleeping with his new Syrian neighbour young enough be his daughter? This bizarre relationship is never explained, even within the contentious interpretation of what passes for explanation in this movie.
One of the most overrated, self indulgent pieces of pretentious trash I have ever seen. A hard pass.

British wit, good dialogues (speak less but say more). Really good acting and nice cinematography.. Good slow thriller after long time..

Truly outstanding, as one would expect of David Hare as writer and director.
Gripping, masterful, claustrophobic. Top level performances from a talented cast.
Tour de force.

This movie is a drama about the British intelligence service. It's a product of the British left.........as in: the Americans run torture centers...the bad guys are the US and Israel. Ah yeah the US has torture sites throughout the world. The women run everything except the head of the government is a guy. They like to act hardboiled but recoil like snakes and cry sexual harassment. The main character's daughter got knocked up on purpose...she's not married....her Mother explained that this is the 21st century.
I realize the BBC is composed of unionized government bureaucrats. They would never go along with Harry Palmer. I like to see what the BBC would do with a movie about Kim Philby;;;;;;Probably turn him into a British hero. The last thing that's scary is with an ever growing population of Moslems...soon to become the majority....they think the terrorism battle is won....I hope the viewers don't buy that one.

Barely a movie. Nothing happened, no twists, no events, no story. Not sure how it's getting 8s and 9s from so many. 3 at most. Although the actors were good.
Can't give a spoiler, and there was nothing to spoil.

MI5 discovers a political scandal in Britain. As the boss of MI5 dies (natural causes), everybody involved tries to cover his ass. Furthermore, a girl tries to learn the truth about her brothers killing by Israelis.
Bill Nighy is perfect as cool old dog. The kiss was unnecessary and implausible.
