tbh this part two was a disappointment. I prefer the part 1 . Apart from the unnecessary display of these gods and their traditions, I see nothing in this sequel. the only fight scene was the one at the end of the movie which was 1000/100 apart from that. This part 2 wasn't well scripted.

Tony Jaa is back in his first directorial effort (co-directing to be more specific) and the man delivers everything you would expect from a solid martial arts flick, and then some more.
The spiritual sequel to Ong Bak is quite an ambitious film, showing a wide diversity of fighting styles, using ancient thai history as the background. Jaa has certainly done his homework, because the movie has a strong old school HK vibe, but with a crude and gritty look. The plot is pretty much your standard martial arts/shaw bros 101 premise: hero takes revenge of his fallen comrades/family and so on, he begins as a weak victim to transform into a kick-ass machine. Nothing that any respectable MA movie aficionado haven't seen before, but the movie does it right and believable enough to engage the viewer. Not a complex story, but the motivations of the characters are convincing enough to move things on.
The fight sequences are effective, never repetitive and quite intense. I mean, if you can't enjoy a movie that has everything from crocodile fights to ninjas, samurais, elephants, people fighting like crows and leopards, a guy that throws daggers and another guy that uses explosives then you might want to report back to mother ship, because the goods of this planet are just too much for you. The abrupt ending, while anti-climatic, doesn't kill the mood of the film.
Far better from what anyone could expect, no idea why this go trashed by some people. Is no classic but it's a perfectly decent time waster. Which is more from what it can be say about other movies stuffing multiplexes these days.

The attempt on an epic piece of martial art movie ends up as an epic piece of trash, the only thing matters is a few fight scene that you can eventually watch on youtube.
IMO Jaa tries to make a shortcut to his ambition on becoming the same caliber as Jackie Chan, to write and direct his own movie. The result is a disaster. Scenes are overly dramatized it's annoying, insignificant scenes and characters, and the plot, though have potential, was an utter failure in execution. Ong Bak and Tom Yum Goong didn't have much of story but at least they were so simple they make no real damage to the whole movie.
I wish I'd just go for the DVD; at least I can skip those annoying parts, which is quite a lot, and go straight to the fight scenes, which is getting sour to my taste because brutality just can't maintain its charm.

This followup to the hit Ong Bak has nothing to do with the original Ong Bak, and it seems like the producers were simply trying to cash in on the name, but boy- why did they have to? This movie stands upto itself on its own. Tight editing, lots of superb fight sequences, lots of innovative battle techniques, minimal storyline meaning minimal time wasted on anything but the raw action that we are there to see; all makes it a great movie impossible to miss. You get glued to your seat and wont even blink. Somebody wrote he was bored, which I tried hard to understand- but couldn't. Man, action movies don't get bigger or better than this. Its like Gladiator meets Apocalypto meets Rambo, only better. Raw gut wrenching intensity makes it a pleasure to watch. Don't miss this.

Can't wait until this is on Blu-Ray.
In this great sequel Tony Jaa uses so many weapons, gets in a lot of fights for the cause, is trained as he grows up! (This is very unlike the first, where he mostly used Fists, Elbows, Knees, Head)
If Tony Jaa can be considered 'slow' in this movie I would think it would be in the interest of capturing his motions better on film. Just as Bruce Lee could move so much faster but had to slow down to show us just what he was doing! Also there are times when his is being trained in the movie and it is a test, that is why he his movements are more abrupt.
Some people (who may be bored or easily distracted) might think the plot is weak. This is not so if you pay attention. Others might think that listening to the Thai language it annoying and so on. I disagree, it is a very unique sounding language and I tend to watch it with English Subtitles, although I'm sure you can just change the Audio to English or some other language which suits you better.
This is a highly anticipated sequel to an AMAZING movie. But don't expect the plot to mesh or be in any way similar to the 1st.
SEE ALSO: ONG BAK The Thai Warrior. One of the coolest films, be it the opening sequence or many fight scenes later in the movie...
If this seems strange it's because I was trying not to spoil anything.
P.S. Best movie in a while.

I have much expectations of this new Ong Bak 2, but I can't believe I would end up struggling to sit through the whole entire movie from falling sleep. The story line is so-so, and his fighting is so predictable and worse still is when Tony is using Chinese Kung Fu in his fight. I can clearly tell that he is emulating Jet Li and other martial artists in Hong Kong to prove that he can do it equally well if not better. Is not bad what he can do but is not original. His move is still too slow to be a champion martial artist and all the fighting opponents are orchestrated just to let him beat up nicely, too fake a fight. And in the entire movie, I can't remember if he talks at all, the young actor performs much better than him. In all, Tony has great acrobatic skills and some martial arts skills but no way he can be compared to those versatile martial artists like Jacky Chan, Bruce Lee, Summo Hung, Yuen Biao, Jet Li and many others. He can handle Muay Thai well, but please leave Chinese Kung Fu alone, he is just not good at it. And this Ong Bak 2 is completely not relevant to Ong Bak 1, is so confusingly titled. I am sure Ong Bak 3 will be next, hope to see some improvements then.

Again, unsure of what another Asian mixed martial arts film, I heard a few good things and heard about the budget on this film and thought I had to watch it. Ultimately, I found this film an action packed mixed martial arts film with a good story line, costumes and characters. A definite watch for mixed martial arts fans in the world.
I rated this an 8 because of the strong elements that present a good film. Good cinematography, good story, and of course Jaa's strong/impressive martial arts sequences. This film was well shot.
Eventually, I noticed this movie is aimed at the mixed martial arts world and not just a particular following. Jaa exercises his expertise in the action sequences representing Kung Fu, Karate, Jujitsu, Muy Tai boxing, Japanese Sword Play and much more, really making it a variety of martial arts displayed in this film that should be good for audiences around the world and MMA fans alike.
This movie is violent but the representation of their country through the perfect dance and music is also very enjoyable. I would recommend this film to anyone who like MMA, martial arts, south east asia, thailand, cambodia, etc. I was pleasantly surprised by the characters and stories and simply blown away by the martial arts sequences.
