As sad and sappy as this movie is I LOVE IT! This movie will bring you tears if you have a heart. It's a good solid down to earth story that many people can identify with - maybe that's why it is a favorite classic among many people.
The movie/book Old Yeller reminds me of another good movie/book entitled "Where the Red Fern Grows" which is along similar lines as Old Yeller - A sad story of a boy and his dog(s).
Old Yeller is definitely worth watching even if you are not a fan of Disney films. And a good one to watch with your kids.

Disney's 1957 live action classic "Old Yeller" takes place a very long time ago out in the empty country. The couple notable characters include a dog (a yellow lab? Not so sure), and a boy, and together, they end up in an adventure so fantastic it'll make your heart skip a beat as well as make you smile!!!!!
What I like about this movie: It's a dog movie. Yeah, I love dogs; I'm a dog person, and I like all the dog movies from this to the Dalmatians movies as well as Air Bud and more. I also like all the lessons one can learn from this movie; it's old Disney, and these movies are always very comforting.
"Old Yeller" is a must see! Go see it!!!!! I know it; I love it!!!!!
