Old Strangers offers a modern take on a classic Sci-Fi thriller. In the age of technology, information overload and COVID-19, three friends head out to a remote cabin in the woods to reconnect while finding peace and tranquility. Little do they know, they aren't alone! Now for the spoilers... there's an alien presence that the kids stumble upon while hiking and it infects Danny, one of the main characters. Been done before, right? Well, to me Old Strangers is a lot less about the alien invasion itself and much more about the dynamics among Danny and his two friends Michael and Sarah. Over the course of an hour, we see Danny's infection worsen and his fun-loving personality diminish. By the end of the movie, nothing is left of Danny aside from his outward appearance. The pacing, suspense and build up to its climax is really where this movie shines! It appears that the alien pods have been around for quite some time, slowing and methodically taking over unsuspecting hiker after unsuspecting hiker. Eventually the entire surrounding town will be full of 'body-snatchers' ready to expand their reach. I enjoyed this movie a lot as a one-off, but it really sets the stage for a sequel or series. There are so many possibilities to run with here. What are the aliens ultimate goal? Are they a hive mind? How will governments react? Will the aliens target influencers or people in power to further gain traction?? Solid movie. I'm sure more could have been achieved with a larger budget.

I hope this ushers in a new genre of short movies after the paradigm of quality has shifted from blockbuster movie to the longform series format. The comedy was subtle and wasn't trying too hard. This film balances the life during a pandemic with the imagination of a sci-fi thriller.

I typically have a rule where as I don't watch any movie that gets a fan rating of less than five on Imdb. This movie hovered at 4.9 so I thought it was close enough. Darn. That logic did not pay off. Low production, bad acting (though I did slightly enjoy the character with the frizzy blonde hair sporting the greatest american hero look), slow, meandering, and like watching a video in Slo-mo. Where every frame is torture while you wait for the punchline of why you even filmed in Slo mo. First of all, an alien lifeform that needs a host to do its thing, taking up refuge in the middle of the mountains where only one human comes by every hundred years is not very... Intelligent. Second of all if you touch some strange alien bubble with your bare hand and go out of your way to take off your glove so that your flesh can touch it you pretty much deserve what you get. Third, if you touch the alien bubble and then your finger becomes necrotic within the matter of an hour it's probably best to leave the mountains and go right to the ER. Yes this was among one of the dumbest least pleasurable movies that I ever stood witness to in my 48 years. To be fair though I try to avoid movies with less than a 5.0 rating on IMDb as I've already stated so I guess I was asking for it. Henceforth, I don't have a lot of movies in the less than 5.0 rating Spectrum to compare this to. If I did I'm quite sure it may rate a little higher because there's a lot of dumb crap out there to watch. Thankfully I avoid most of it due to my extreme filtering process. My advice is to filter this one out or watch it when you're really drunk so that you pass out immediately.

Wtf was that ? Has to be the worst movie ever made. Even by Tubis standard. Just a horrible movie. How did this get a 3.2 rating ? Omg.... Avoid at all cost!

Really enjoyed this movie. It mixes elements of horror and sci-fi, has great dialogue, and the directing was excellent. The movie has beautiful cinematography and an awesome score. Coming in just over an hour, it's definitely worth the watch.

Old Strangers is a must watch sci-fi thriller with a modern day twist. It incorporates the thrill and suspense of a classic sci fi movie with the modern day horror of COVID. The movie captures the eerie feel we have all been living in amidst the pandemic lockdowns. Three friends meet up at Big Bear hoping for some long over do in person camaraderie that soon takes a turn for the worst when one of them is "stung" by an unknown creature. The movie is suspenseful and well done. Definitely a must see this winter!

Three friends - Michael, Sarah and Danny - reconnect in a secluded mountain town after going through a long quarantine. Yet while they take a hike, the friends stumble upon something dark and terrible in the deep woods. At just a bit over an hour, Old Strangers doesn't eat up much of your time in its tale of odd things in the wood and friends being changed by what they find. Perhaps it's the times that we're surviving, but the idea of time away with people we've known before, only to have that taken away, seems like the worst of all horror. This movie does a decent job of showing just how bad that would be. I really dug the space shots of this, as it pushes the film toward the otherworldly.

Fans of the grounded sci-fi genre and truly independent films will find much to enjoy in this lean movie with gorgeous cinematography, and a third act that unfolds at breakneck speed.

This movie is about 1 hour. And I though it was too long. Waste of time. Bad story bad actors cheap everything. I'd rather go watch an episode of Xfiles. Each of all those episodes is better than this.
