In her twisted mind, Cassandra Joy ("Cassie") somehow believes that if she can be like the successful Summer Ray in her popular workout studio, then she can become the perfect woman.
"Obsessed to Death" was a slow-moving, routine, and superficial film about the nature of obsession. At first, Cassie is out for revenge because Summer is dating Cassie's former boyfriend, Austin. But Cassie's broader goal is to imitate Summer in every facet of her life.
There was not much background given on Cassie. We know that she is from Kenosha, Wisconsin, where she murdered the wife of a college professor, apparently out of jealousy. Cassie's childhood friend Izzy provides a brief outline of a deeply troubled past.
The main question that the audience seeks to understand is: What makes Cassie tick? It becomes clear that Cassie wishes to emulate Summer in the belief that Summer is the perfect woman.
But one detail emerges in the film that shatters Cassie's ideal. After Cassie murders Summer's boyfriend, Summer reveals to the detective that "Summer Ray" is only a stage name and that her real name is Summer Parker. There was a nice directorial touch that focused on Cassie's shocked reaction in learning the truth about her friend's phony identity.
In other words, Cassie was chasing an illusion, an idealized image concocted in her own mind of another ambitious climber putting on a facade. So, in the end, due to her insecurity and her lack of a strong personal identity, Cassie accomplishes nothing but bringing misery into other people's lives.

When I decided to watch this movie I did not expected much. Acting was ok, except some scenes were cringe. Can movies stop adding 3some scenes to attract attention and bank more money lol. At times it was predictable. And makes u wonder why to check cameras. If someone goes missing. So overall issa good watch.

Typically with movies like this you don't expect much but I cannot lie, ending this one I felt satisfied and shocked. From the acting to the storyline it was very well executed. I would have to say there's a review before mine that everything they said I agree with. Especially Summers apt I need the location asap because it was really nice.
Good job with this one.

Cassie Childs (Holland Roden, MTVs Teen Wolf) has lost her boyfriend Austin (Colton Royce) to fitness guru Summer Ray (Kathryn Kohut, Spare Parts) and instead of just getting over it, she starts stalking her and trying to get involved in her online spin classes at Levitate.
Despite every single person in her life warning her that Cassie is insane, Summer lets her more and more into her life. If things turn out to be Single White Female riding a Peloton, but let's forgive it, because this movie -- like so many Tubi exclusives -- goes for it. Like, if Austin has known all along that Cassie is so mentally unbalanced, why would he let her get so close to his girlfriend and even have a threeway with them and oh yeah, I just answered my own question.
Director Stefan Brogen has also directed the new Holly Hobbie show that's streaming, as well as several Degrassi series, which makes sense because he played Archie "Snake" Simpson on that show. It was written by Jessica Landry and Rowan Wheeler.
Who knew that getting ahead in fitness meant poisoning so many smoothies and killing so many people? I was also going to ask why so many of Tubi's Lifetime movies had scenes where the heroine and eventually villain have threeways together, but I think that it's 2022, people miss Cinemax After Dark and yes, I just answered my own question again.

This was an entertaining film. I was not expecting much and I turned out to be pleasantly surprised. The acting was better quality than a lifetime movie. Very relevant to our world today. I do have one (1) question... Where is Summer's apartment located?!?! LoVE it!!!

How obsessed can one person be? It is tough to understand why some people do the things they do. Mental health being a key here - and not being able to see that. Although to be fair, there are some people here, who are on her case and are able to see her for what she actually is! One of them with not just a good radar when it comes to sexuality but also sanity - no pun intended.
There are certain scenes that you may cringe at - you may feel that the good girl here may be a bit too gullible ... and you may have an issue that our main character is as mas as one can be. Still well played and for a predictable thriller such as this is ... well made too. Not many surprises here - but apart from the well done in every department, the ending and that look is priceless ... and almost worth the 7 I gave the movie alone ...
