Nell wakes up in a plain bare room with no memory of how or why she's there. Enter the voice of Travis in the room adjacent. They form a tentative connection due to terrible circumstances. Nell has flashes of some sort of memories. They are of course trying to escape. The ending leaves the viewer flat. The acting is okay, but not great, but that could be a bad director too. I think there's too much dead screentime with nothing happening. There's plot points that are never fully explained. Don't waste your time if you want to watch something really good. But if you're bored and just want to check it out, then it's not too bad.

"Open Up" is about a young woman named Nell (KateLynn E. Newberry) who wakes up in a strange room with no explanation as to why she is there nor recollection as to how she got there. As she works out trying to escape, she hears another captive, Travis (Lanny Joon), and builds a plan to get them both out. First, the plus: Great cinematography! The camera work is top-notch, and the special effects (of which are few, but impressive for the budget) are worked in nicely. For the negative: Nell's character is unconvincing throughout the entire film. There doesn't seem to be much emotion or suspense, which leaves much to be desired. The ending has a nice twist, and it does wrap up the plot fairly soundly, but after the reveal, it seems rushed. Might be worth a once over, as this troupe has been done before, but it retains a certain unique aspect. Don't expect too much, however.

I didn't mind the twist, but even so, this movie had zero action or suspense. You're just watching a pretty woman (who can't act to save her life) trying to escape a room while a LED clock counts down and a bunch of random lights and sounds go off. There wasn't really any explanation as to how these "modules" get past the testing phase, nor was there a backstory on what caused the company to be formed. You could make a Twilight Zone episode out of this, but without my above suggestions, there's not enough here for a full length movie. The camera work and lighting were the only positive attributes.

Also known as O9en Up, this was directed by Tyler Lee Allen and written by Michael Ferree. It's all about Nell (KateLynn E. Newberry), who has just woken up trapped inside of a room with no memory of who she is or even how she got there. There's also a man next door to Nell in the same situation. While she doesn't trust him, their conversations lead ot her realizing not only who but what she is. Also featuring Lanny Joon and David Solomon Abrams, this film is a claustrophobic one, keeping its characters confined for most of the movie. The footage outside the prison looks great as does the cell scenes, which says to me this team got the most out of its budget and delivered a movie that looks way better than what they spent.

Watched this movie because my friend Katelynn Newberry was in it. Katelynn keeps you engaged the entire time in a movie that could have very easily become boring fast had the right actress not been chosen. The editing was superb as well as the cinematography. I am curious if they built the set or where they found that set. I could tell a lot of work was put into making the set functional. Well worth the watch in my opinion! The soundtrack and sound editing was also superb. The perfect music was chosen to keep you on the edge of your seat. And not once did a sound byte seem out of place. Bravo to everyone involved!

Enough said. Horrible boring couldn't last 10 minutes before trying to google what highschool chump got daddy's money to make a play film. Amateur hour. No story. Annoying characters. More enjoyable to watch paint dry.

98% of this entire movie is set in one completely bare room with one "actress" and the voice of a guy in "another room". I use the word actress hesitantly, because that girl could not act her way out of a paper bag. Nobody in real life reacts the way that she does to situations. The whole movie was as boring as watching grass grow. I mean, unless you are the kind of person who likes sitting down and watching two people talk about nothing for an hour and a half... The last ten minutes or so have a LITTLE action - as in something happens - but not much. The ending really does not tie in with the rest of the movie unless you do some interesting mental gymnastics. I won't give away any spoilers but I will tell you that there is an opening scene that is meant to lead you down one trail... don't fall for it. Tl:dr; DON'T BOTHER!
