Spoilers Alert..... Bakwaaaas.... This is what everybody had to say after watching this crap movie made by Karan Johar. This guy he knows how to fool people and loot money from viewers by making such horrible movie. What a shame. The movie is so dull and boring that one can ask for a cushion to sleep. Good movies earn less and such thrash like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil earn more. If directors like Karan Johar feels that making movies is to earn money and only money than one should stop watching such people's movie. This movie had senseless dialogues and rubbish story in fact no story. Ranbir Kapoor is a total showoff, Anushka Sharma is overacting and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had nothing to offer in her short role. The movie is too lengthy and a huge disappointment one could get on a festive season. The director mixed his own parts of movies like Kal Ho Na Ho to create a masterpiece but it turned out to be a super crap and one can say that Ae Picture Deekhna Hai Mushkil. The only thing gave me a joy was Sir Shah Rukh Khan's Cameo who looked stunning rest all was forgetful. The ticket prices are also very high one can understand why! Well if you wish to sleep inside the theater then you can enter without any hesitation.... Happy Diwali

Rockstar delivered KJo style!! Bollywood directors like KJo should NOT even think of casting talents like RK, AK and ARB, what a waste! Should stick to likes of Dhawans for cheesy bu**s**t.
Total Fu***d up khichdi of Rockstar and bits of other typical bollywood cinema, would also find glimpses of Love Aajkal.
Also whats the fascination with reference to international locations. Same stuff shot in Bombay or Delhi won't make iota of difference to movie and lines I am born in England.. what era you are living in K Jo? every other IT guy (generally who can afford multiplex cinema in India) has been the UK/ US. London is full of desis so it's not even cool anymore dude!
Performances are brilliant however direction is a total mess!! RK has so much to offer but bolly only offering him typed roles.
AVOID

I loved Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Kal Ho Naa Ho & My Name Is Khan. But then there were Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Student of the Year & Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Headache.
The first half of the film has nothing happening. The director is rich & so are the characters. So they roam around lip-synching famous Hindi film songs and dialogues, somewhere foreshadowing the arriving of SRK. You meet at a party and start kissing - that's Hollywood. You meet someone in a different country and start speaking Hindi at your very first conversation - that's BS. The first half is all about these two idiots running around different places. The second half takes pace but then again, from the story POV, there is nothing new. Nothing. It's a shame that some celebrities are praising the film (maybe to be in the good books of the director). Yes, some of the songs are good & the lyrics are beautiful too. But nothing else is. What is the use of going to New York or any other place and staying in a room to write your next screenplay when it turns out to be so distasteful? Anushka and Ranbir are good in their parts. Ash is wasted & made to show how beautiful she still is rather than how good she can act. It's a shame that the lead actors who can act brilliantly have to act in such films with bad plot lines.
The film gave me such a headache that I had to go to a bookstore to calm myself down.

It is unfortunate that even today, film makers like Karan Johar (who consider themselves very innovative and artistic) still dish out the same old dragged, pedestrian, senseless, shallow and tortuous movies while expecting the audience to pay a premium price for watching it!
The only thing "mushkil" about this horrendous movie is sitting through it...
Just like eating stale, tasteless food in a fine dining restaurant doesn't make it delicious, similarly shooting a nonsensical movie in good locales with beautiful cast doesn't make it worth a watch.
Not sure why Karan Johar had to spend Rs90 Cr to make a pathetic piece like ADHM. Even a drunk monkey with a pen could have come with a better, meaningful story.

This is a fresh review. Probably one of the freshest reviews you are going to read today. While reading this review please keep in mind I am huge fan of Ranbir Kapoor.
This is Ranbir's 2nd worst film. If you don't know what is his 1st, it's obviously ROY! Imtiaz Ali should file a case of plagiarism on Karan Johar for copying the entire 1st half of the movie from "Rockstar". The 2nd half of the movie is an amalgamation of Karan Johar's filmography till now. I am sorry but I cannot review this movie without giving away spoilers.
The 1st half is breezy and truth be told, it is funny. Even though the situation in which Ranbir and Anushka meet is the biggest lie that Bollywood is trying to sell to Indians. The day one of my friends tell me this has happened to them I am gonna re-watch every Bolly movie which has that premise. Ranbir sparkles and brings back the funny side of him which he brilliantly showcased in "Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani". NOW, before the intermission the usual gimmick, one falls in love and one doesn't, heartbreak, BUT, in the next half hour the exact thing happens. THE. EXACT. THING. A movie which has 2 heartbreaks within a duration of one hour, punctured by 2 songs to show heartbreak and pain is just plain sad. I mean, it doesn't evoke the emotion of sadness for the characters. I feel sad for the present generation of actors and actresses who have to act through this script.
The four cameos which are of Lisa Hayden, Fawad, Aishwarya and Shah Rukh should have left lasting impressions, I think that's what cameos should do, but except Shah Rukh's character the other cameos are just over- used clichés. Lisa Hayden does play it alright but you get a character like that in every love-story which is of a bimbo. It is almost like the character of Bruna Abdullah in the movie "I hate luv storys". There she was over-played and over sexualized. Here she was just under played. Just because Fawad has the charm of his youth he is watchable but Aishwarya just doesn't have it. It feels like she is reading a book and that too in one bloody tone.
I think nothing can be said about the script because it is just bland. Nothing new, nothing different. The dialogues between Anushka and Ranbir in the 1st half is still natural. There was absolutely no chemistry between Ranbir and Aishwarya. Poetic lines are thrown at us left, right and center and they have no weight because there has been no character building. Ranbir's Ayan suffers from tonal differences. There is no transition from just a casual liking to a heart- wrenching love. Even before he starts singing "Channa Mereya" there is a peppy song where he is seen making cute expressions and all of a sudden he becomes Jordan and even if Karan Johar had copied Rockstar for his 1st half scene by scene, it would have been forgivable but as he adds his own flavor it just becomes unwatchable.
Karan Johar, please leave the director's chair because even in 2016 if you are making the same masala movie then there is no hope. You are better off as a producer. Ranbir, please start making intelligent choices in films. Go for indie films with new directors and avoid Karan Johar in the future. You have too much talent to waste it in these kind of movies.
To the people reading this, just leave it or watch the 1st half and walk out, have lunch, have a soft-drink and just never ever watch the 2nd half of the movie. Oh did I mention Anushka dies of cancer? Yeah, see how the title reads every Bollywood movie? I was not lying.

Okay, I see lots of negative reviews and not trying to justify them because this story is something very few guys like myself have experienced in real life. When you genuinely fall in love with someone and want to bring the World to them, but they end up choosing someone else. And no matter how much you tell your heart to move-on and wish them well, it's almost impossible to get rid of those feelings.
This story personally hits home to me, because I suffered this pain, I went through it, It wasn't just an infatuation, I didn't want anything in return, just wanted her love and be in her life, but it wasn't meant to be. Even moving on and dating faaar more beautiful women wouldn't live up to what we had which was so special.
OK I agree, the cancer angle was not necessary, that kind of started giving Kal ho na ho/rockstar vibes. So yes, the ending should've been executed better, but other than that it was great.
Songs were absolutely brilliant, the lyrics were fantastic. Arjit nailed it. Once again, this movie isn't for you guys who are either old generation, fulfilled in your love lives/happily married etc. This movie is particularly for those of you who loved someone genuinely but lost them to someone else leaving it one sided love. This pain is very real and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy!

With 4 chart buster numbers this movie had created buzz enough for movie buffs like me to watch it FDFS, but what turned out was a big disappointment. First things first, Karan Johar is no Anurag Basu who can dish out a mature love story in a subtle and just manner. There has to be candyfloss and glitz and that was kind of expected. But you cannot just turn your story and introduce twists for the sake of it. Ranbir in the first half acts as if he has not received his payment, though he kills it around Channa Meraya song. Anushka is a charm to watch. Aish with her limited talents is nice on eyes. And Fawad? Well, where was he?
The biggest problem is the weak story and direction, specially the last 30 minutes were too heavy to bear out.
Seriously disappointed, though I will keep listening to the chart buster numbers for a long time to come

As a technician director Mr. Karan Johar, work is good but as a creative person nothing is good. There is very convenient and out dated story. Screenplay offers only a few just worth smile scenes in first half. Basic drawback in this seemingly love story movie is there is no love. Makers point of view of love is just few kissing scenes and looks a like love making scene. They didn't feel need of exploring or establishing love with new perspective. First half approach of love and film is ahead of time and second half belongs to gone era in dialogues as second female lead is a 'Shayera' but behaviors and dresses wise again ultra modern, who doesn't blink for a second to be intimate with a person just in second meet!! There is not a single clear cut character. Initially first pair is established very rich but then there was no any further need of this thing. All characters are confused. Even pre climax cause is very stale and looks funny rather than projecting any high octane emotions but actors shed tears now and then with loud gesture. Open end climax in a love story is just unbearable. You remain seated and think what was it? Performance wise Ranbir Kapoor is good. Anushka Sgarma is impressive. Aishwaraya Rai Bachchan is fine. Music wise " Achchha Chalta Hun Dua Mein Yaad Rakhna' is well placed, written and composed, credit goes to Music director Preetam and lyricist Amitabh Bhattachrya.
