Right, well I hadn't ever heard about this 2015 Japanese action thriller titled "Tôkyô Mukokuseki Shôjo" (aka "Nowhere Girl") prior to stumbling upon it here late in 2022. And of course I opted to watch it, since I hadn't already seen it.
Now, the movie is listed as an action thriller. Well, that is about as far from the truth as could be. "Tôkyô Mukokuseki Shôjo", from director Mamoru Oshii, is definitely not an action thriller. It is a slow paced, monotonous and pointless drama. That was nothing thrilling about the storyline that writers Kentarô Yamagishi and Kei Yamamura churned out, nor were there actually anything even close to resembling action in this snoozefest of a movie.
I will say that the acting performances in were fair enough, and the actors and actresses could have done so much more if they just had a properly interesting and entertaining script and storyline to work with.
If you enjoy Japanese cinema, you need to do yourself a favor and skip on this movie. It just simply isn't worth the time of day. Some of us suffered through this ordeal of a dumpster fire movie so you don't have to.
My rating of "Tôkyô Mukokuseki Shôjo" lands on a one out of ten stars. It is without a doubt one of the most slow paced, pointless and totally devoid of anything interesting movies that I have suffered through in a long time.
