HORRIBLE to have the girls cat get run over in the first six minutes! HORRIBLE!! I don't care if that is how she meets the ugly boy everyone wants - WHAT THE HECK KIND OF FAMILY MOVIE DOES THAT??? Especially after the girls mother dies inn the first 3 minutes?? The acting is pretty horrible too - maybe the aunt and uncle are supposed to be horrible but I've seen better acting in high school plays.

This is a really terrible movie! Do not waist your time. So poorly made and almost as poorly written. This looks like a bunch of amateurs somehow found money to make a movie, but had no idea how to do it.

This movie is about a serious subject and has perfectly blended drama with real world solutions. Kids can actually learn from this if they are in need! Loved it!!

This movie portrays a very idealized alternate reality. There's no connection to how a child subjected to severe emotional abuse would behave or respond to any of the situations that come up in the movie. It's a fantasy movie about abuse and rescuing the abused. Beyond the fact that the acting is terrible and the script is terrible, it's misleading to suggest the ease at which the abused child recovered, and that is a huge disservice to all of the children that have actually experienced severe emotional abuse.

I probably will never watch this movie again but I'd pass it on to any teenager I know who feels their dreams will never come true - or that good feelings and a good heart are wasted. We live in cynical times but some stories can move you to tears with a good message. This is not a Cinderella story but there are 'evil' stepparents and stepsiblings even if they are the result of a guardianship relationship and not remarriage. The story is a reminder that people can die and do die, sometimes leaving behind small children. What happens after that can be sad and unfair. I found myself tearing up quite a few times when the main character, Indie, spoke her feelings. The writer(s) did an excellent job writing the words that a teenager might speak. Not your usual teen, though - I think at Indy's age, I was a mess when it came to articulating thoughts and feelings! I recommend this film to anyone who can empathize with the serious troubles of a teenager. Warning: the teenage boys in this movie are well-behaved and respectful. Maybe that will remind some viewers of a fantasy. But I've suspected for some time that such boys do exist. Time to show it.

This was surprisingly good for a hallmark movie. Do not be fooled by the poster and the summary, this isn't your typical indentured servant girl with a teenage romance. Sure some of the dialogue is corny but what do you expect? It's a Hallmark movie. What I really appreciate though, is the fact that they took time to develop the element of friendship between Indy and Bryant. He wasn't just her prince, he was also her fairy godmother. Most Cinderella adaptations I've watched just focused on her hardships and her romance at the big nice ball, but this movie delivered a more fleshed out prince in the form of Bryant. In particular, I really liked how they highlighted the difference between him and Max, and I enjoyed looking out for Indy's reactions to both of them. Cinderella's character was true to the original. You find out how kind and patient she is through her actions in the movie. Obviously, the acting could have been better but it didn't bother me that much. The surprising thing was they actually touched on the abuse in Cinderella and treated it very seriously in this modern retelling e.g. the signs, the different types, the process of handling it, so if you're not comfortable with that sort of thing and want more of a fairytale romance, then I suggest you watch another adaptation. But personally, I thought it was handled sensibly. Overall, I think it's nice that they've managed to make a heartwarming movie about family and friendship, and some romance to finish things off. The beginning is quite corny but if you stick around, it gets better.

This is the typical Cinderella story but so much more real! The abuse Indy endures is actually recognised and addressed unlike other versions I have seen! Such a refreshing and real life version of the classic story.
